Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files. Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.
The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life.
Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks),
and I have accepted the mantle.
The
rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent. Post some photos
under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Sorry I still
haven't succeeded in working out how to do a blog hop. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.
I
usually run with a theme. It is definitely winter here now. I am enjoying our cool and lightly frosty mornings and hoping that we get cold enough to freeze bubbles this year.
However I am also looking forward to Spring. When I am well enough I am gardening up a storm, weeding and in conjunction with himself planting (he doesn't weed).
Each month Charlotte (MotherOwl) gives us a colour of the month. This month in honour of her yellow irises survivng the drought in her Frog pond, the colour of June is "Surviving Iris Yellow"
Come Spring I hope to have blazes of yellow again. Like these.
Whatever season you are in, I hope you are enjoying it.

DeleteIt is really hot here now and I love seeing your frost pictures. I hope you are able to photograph frozen bubbles again this year. I always get a kick out of seeing them when it is as hot as Hades here.

DeleteMy favorite flower is the purple one. Your sky line has an interesting pattern of white clouds. The first photo looks like all small clouds are gathering towards a center.

DeleteSo many bulbs! I wonder that you have any space at all to squeeze in more every year. They are beautiful, so well worth the effort. I love seeing your frosty plants while being glad I don't have frost where I am.
ReplyDeleteRiver: We lose some bulbs in summer each year and the smaller bulbs don't take up much room. Joanne Noragon always said the aim was to plant so many that the weeds had no room. I wish. How I wish. And I miss her posts.

DeleteI love - LOVE - your frost photos because I'm rarely up early enough to see frost here (or, if I'm up, it's because I have to go somewhere and I'm in a rush). Also, our frosts are usually killer frosts, and the leaves and blossoms are ruined after one event. I do hope you eventually get some frozen bubble weather. In the meantime, we are having an unusually cool spring but with lots of rain so everything is green and growing fast. Wishing you a week with enough energy and good weather that you can get some or all of those bulbs planted. Take care, dear friend.

DeleteI love frost flowers and often wander round with the camera. Himself doesn't see it until later in the year when we still have frosts around 11am. Or later.

DeleteSo gorgeous! Every time I see a frost-covered plant, I'm reminded of a movie my friend's daughter once persuaded me to watch. It had magic, fairies, and four seasons coexisting side-by-side, and we thoroughly enjoyed it!

I can't wait to see your upcoming frozen bubbles. Yours was the first place I ever saw them (I'm pretty sure though not 100%). I did manage the last day of cold here to snag a few shots. My gosh it was sooooooo fun. So fun. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of bulbs that you are going to plant, and you said there are lots more. It looks like a lot of word. For some weird reason I don't enjoy planting plants (which doesn't prevent me from still doing it), but I sure enjoy the color that I can see in spring coming from all these bulbs. The yellow of the daffodils is such a happy color! I like the pictures with the plant and the frost on them - that is so pretty. I hope that you can freeze bubbles again and we will see it here.

ReplyDeleteCarola Bartz: It is a lot of work. Sadly this week has been packed with appointments (mostly medical) so not a lot has been done in the garden. Next week (fingers crossed). I am not a big fan of planting either but am a fan of the results.
