Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files. Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.
The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life.
Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks),
and I have accepted the mantle.
The
rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent. Post some photos
under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Sorry I still
haven't succeeded in working out how to do a blog hop. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.
I
usually run with a theme. This last week (and next week and the one after) has been busy with mostly medical appointments. Sigh.
So just a few photos this week.
First some bad photos of the Strawberry Moon and a lovely pink but frosty dawn as I headed off to LL - my only non medical appointment for the week.
I have often said that my city is packed with public art. Due to the interminable work on our tram system one piece was moved out of the city to Lake Tuggeranong this week.
I like it's new position.
Here is "Dream Lens for the Future," a sculpture by Keizo Ushio, in its new home on the Lake Tuggeranong foreshore. The
sculptureframes the landscape through its circular form and allows for
close-up interaction.
I love that moon, And the other photos got me thinking of powdered donuts, Boy if only they could be so big, I hope you have a great new week ahead of you.
ReplyDeleteRasmaSandra: Not a fan of donuts - big or small. Have a great week yourself.
DeleteDa mucho juego fotográfico esa interesante escultura.
ReplyDeleteFeliz domingo de descanso.
VENTANA DE FOTO: Thank you - I really like the new position for this sculpture.
DeleteI like the interesting art piece. I wanted to take a picture of the Strawberry moon but I need a better camera at some point in order to get those kinds of pictures. You did well though. Have a nice week.
ReplyDeleteMary Kirkland: I too need a better camera and steady hands to take good shots of the moon.
DeleteHi EC - looks like an ammonite with the potential to be a crocodile ... but what a fascinating sculpture ... so pleased you let us see it. I hope you'll have reasonable news via the various medical appointments - cheers and all the best - Hilary
ReplyDeleteHilary Melton-Butcher: Thank you. Some of the options being canvassed are scary - I do hope the results are not. Thank you.
DeleteThat is a beautiful sculpture. I like how it is located near water, because it remind me of a shell.
ReplyDeleteThat's a stunning strawberry moon. Never heard of strawberry moon before. Sorry your week (and more) is filled with medical appointments. I hope there will be good news on all fronts.
Bleubeard and Elizabeth: I can totally see the shell in Dream Lens. Thank you. We pinched the Strawberry Moon title from your side of the world.
DeleteIt looks well suited to its new home and will doubtless be admired by many.
ReplyDeleteDavid M. Gascoigne: I hope so. I really hope so.
DeleteLaura Eno - I love that sculpture! It carries a sense of serenity for me, though I can’t explain why. Perfect setting for it too. Perhaps the location will be permanent.
ReplyDeleteYour moon shots are lovely. I couldn’t even admire it because of cloud cover.
One foot in front of the other. Trudge on, the apparent motto for our lives lately. Hopefully in the next few weeks you’ll get a break from all the appointments.
Love and hugs to you, and scritches for the overlords.
Laura Eno? Haven't heard from you in a long time!
DeleteLaura Eno: One step in front of the other indeed. On a good day.
DeleteYou are right about the serenity of the statue and the lake side is a beautiful spot for it. I do hope it stays.
Hugs.
What a fitting new home. Dream Lens for the Future feels right at ease by the lake, inviting reflection through its curves while perfectly framing nature’s own art
ReplyDeleteroentare: I think its new home is better than the original home in the city - but I am a sucker for lake views. Your comment is, as always, beautifully expressed.
DeleteThe Lake Tuggeranong foreshore makes a nice setting for 'Dream Lens for the Future,' sculpture.
ReplyDeleteI hope all your medical appointments go well.
All the best Jan
Lowcarb team member ~ Jan: Thank you - on both counts.
DeleteSending you lots and lots of good wishes. That weird round thing is very, very cool.
ReplyDeleteThe Happy Whisk: I think it is great - and thank you.
DeleteYou caught the strawberry patches on the moon. The sculpture is like a lens to a view, and a very nice view across the lake it is.
ReplyDeleteAndrew: Water improves almost every view doesn't it?
DeleteNow imagine the strawberry moon shining through the "Dream Lens for the Future".
ReplyDeleteThe peace of the night, Sue.
Sean Jeating: Now that would be a sight. Sleep well.
DeleteThat statue's amazing.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous: I like it too.
DeleteI like your pink sky and strawberry moon! It's ironic that it's still called the 'strawberry moon' there, where it's the beginning of winter. Here I've just started picking the first strawberries of the season. :-)
ReplyDeleteDiane Henders: We pinch quite a number of names from your side of the world. And all our Easter cards for example show Spring despite the celebration being in our early autumn. Enjoy your strawberries.
DeleteThe moon was lovely, wasn't it.
ReplyDeleteAs for the sculpture, I don't blame you for favoring it, and its new position.
messymimi: The new spot is perfect isn't it?
DeleteThe sculpture looks like something kids would love to climb on and sit in. The moon is a tricky girl, hard to photograph most times.
ReplyDeleteRiver: I expect when the weather warms up again children will climb in and over the sculpture. Which is lovely. And yes, good photos of the moon are rare (from me anyway).
DeleteAlex J. Cavanaugh: An excellent place for it.
ReplyDeleteGreat place to put it...reminds me of inner tubes and being in the sea for some reason. Have a great day.
ReplyDeletee: It is a lovely place to put it. You wouldn't want to be in that lake at the moment - it would be decidedly chilly.
DeleteLoved the moon pictures, but I must confess I thought much more of donuts than lenses. I will think positive thoughts about your appointments.
ReplyDeleteBill: That is two of you that thought of donuts. Thank you for the positive thoughts.
DeleteInteresting sculpture, nice if the sunset through the hole at a certain time of year, or maybe a rising sun.
ReplyDeleteThe moon is looking a nice colour.
Margaret D: It would be nice to see either a sunset or a dawn through that 'lens'.
DeleteThat dreams lens sculpture is very appealing, and just what the world needs at the moment. I love the way you've taken shots of it from so many different angles
ReplyDeleteKim: Thank you. There is always room for creativity isn't there? And dreams.
Aferradetes, Sue.
sa lluna: Thank you. I do love the moon and try and catch each and every full moon. Someday I will take a photo that satisfies me. You are right about the waiting for doctor's appointments and the results though I am not looking forward to one of the tests this week. I haven't had this one before and hope not to need it again.
DeleteAny and all shots of the moon are welcome in my world! This dream lens is one strong sturdy looking piece of excellent artwork, amazing. Thank you for your kind words on my blog today, especially on this sad weekend for Minnesota. May your week be blessed with sunshine and happy faces!
ReplyDelete21 Wits: My heart aches for the world at the moment. So much pain and suffering. I hope Minnesota can recover and mourn with them. Here's to global sunshine and happy faces.
DeleteDear EC
ReplyDeleteI love to see all the art in your city so thank you for sharing this piece. I am a big fan of circles in all their forms, so this is right up my street. Great moon photos too.
Hope your appointments go well.
Best wishes
Ellie
Ellie Foster: I am so grateful for the public art in my city. So very grateful. Fingers crossed on the medical front - and thank you.
DeleteI thought that sculpture at first was a donut with a worm track through it, indicating its delicious nature. That was before I read your text about it. Or a worm hole, you know, being a trekkie, from way back, fast track vacuum like pathways between universes.
ReplyDeleteStayer: Several people from the US have seen that donut. I didn't, and now I do. And yes, a worm hole could be a wonderful thing.
DeleteThere is always something new to see!
ReplyDeletecontempladoraocidental: New to see, new to celebrate.
DeleteI've "borrowed" a tree picture.
ReplyDeleteMike: Not a problem.
DeleteThe art throughout Australia is beautiful. It makes me wish we had more here! I wish you the best over these next weeks, EC.
ReplyDeleteMarie Smith: As I have often said I am very grateful to the Chief Minister who spread art far and wide in my city - and thank you.
DeleteSomehow, I could not photograph the Strawberry Moon this time.
ReplyDeleteHaddock: I tried - and pretty much failed.
DeleteThe Dream Lens is such a good artistic prop for participation in framing photos. Thanks for traveling out to the scene to snap these pics for sharing.
ReplyDeleteArtmater: Thank you. I think the sculpture's new location lends itself to photographs.
DeleteMy post to join Sunday Selections https://artmater.com/sunday-selections-june-15-2025
ReplyDeleteArtmater: I am heading over to see your Selections now.
DeleteFun sculpure, will it stay there? I cross my fingers for all your "outings"!
ReplyDeleteCharlotte (MotherOwl): Thank you. I have another outing tomorrow - which I dread. I hope the sculpture does stay there.
DeleteI like your visuals, capturing the sky and the art. I am house bound so compared to me, you go out more often than I do. Gigi Hawaii
ReplyDeleteGigi Hawaii: I hope that you will be able to go out a little more. You certainly have more people visit you than we do.
DeleteNice moon photos. I have a few of those but not, alas, the strawberry moon. It's usually too cloudy here in the UK.
ReplyDelete:o)
Cheers
PM
Plastic Mancunian: It is often too cloudy here - though clouds across a full moon can make for some interesting photos.
DeleteI did not see the strawberry moon.. you got some nice pics.
ReplyDeleteHena Tayeb: Thank you.
DeleteThis is such a cool idea! I will definitely try and remember to participate this coming Sunday!
ReplyDeleteJess: Welcome. I hope you will join us this coming week.
DeleteI hope everything is going smoothly. The “Dream Lens for the Future” sculpture looks stunning in its new location it really does frame the landscape beautifully.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a more restful week ahead.
Asep Haryono: Thank you - on both counts.
DeleteNice to look through the lens of the sculpture.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how, but I missed the Strawberry Moon. I would have loved to have seen it.
I hope your doctors visits gave good results, dear friend.
Sandra sandracox.blogspot.com
Sandra Cox: Thank you. Doctor's visits still underway. Hugs.
DeleteNice photos.
ReplyDeleteOrvokki
Orvokki: Thank you.
DeleteKeizo Ushio‘s sculpture is fascinating one. I like it and its location. Pretty sky shots! I hope your doctor visits went well.
ReplyDeleteDEniseinVA: It looks good where it is doesn't it? A nasty scan today, another doctor's visit on Friday.
