Sunday Selections

Sunday Selections, brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, is an ongoing theme where participants post previously unused photos languishing in their files.

Anyone can join in, just post your photos under the Sunday Selections title, link back to Kim, then add your name to her Linky list at Frogpondsrock.

My theme for this week is King Parrots.  There have been a lot visiting us this week, mostly the males.  The males have red heads and the females green.  Though, just to be tricky, a green headed bird with a red beak is a juvenile male.

  3. mybabyjohn/Delores: They are a never ending source of joy and visit us for most of the year. Like most of Oz's native birds, musical they aint.

Karen: Thank you. Sitting in the lounge watching them is a daily time waster.

Bali Ring: Wild they are. I assume that your carrot was a typo. I haven't even seen them in pet shops (thankfully). We have a feeder outside and they come and go as they please.

  5. While on my morning walk through our local footy ground i've noticed a pair Galah's and a flock of Parrots having a feast :-).

  6. River: I suspect that if we were not feeding them we would have much more limited photo opportunities.

Windsmoke: Lovely to see isn't it?

  11. Marshall Stacks: It is a wonderful typo isn't it? Our king parrots are fraidy cats. Even a wood dove is higher in the pecking order. And sometimes sparrows too. Love them though.

ladyfi: They are truly beautiful. Thank you.

  14. Wow! They are such beautiful birds. They have a curved beak like the raptors around here. Do they eat other birds? Do people ever tame them, I wonder?

  15. As a child I used to dream about parrots. I had guinea pigs, but this was not the same :)))

Maybe some day in the future I will buy such a beautiful birdies but meanwhile I spoil my cat :)))

  16. Kim: They are pretty birds. They brighten any and every day.

Kath: He was focusing on me as I focused on him which made me smile lots.

Carolina: With those colours it is hard to see how than can conceal themselves so well.

DJan: Vegetarian all the way. And more than a little cowardly. We have had them eat from our hands, and my youngest brother regularly has them eating from his. I have never seen them for sale though - which pleases me.

KenG: Welcome. We spoil our cats too - how can you not, but the birds are a treat too.

  20. Urgh! Sorry for late comment, i've had your page open for days, but .... life!

They are beautiful birds, and I love the photo of the parrot looking at the camera (#3), it just gives them so much character to see their face (although I really like #2 also).

I think I've said it before, I am really envious of the bird life you manage to attract :)
