Sunday Selections, was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing theme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files.
The theme is now continued by River at Drifting through life.
The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent. Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to River.
Like River I generally like to have a theme for my Sunday Selections posts. This week I went back in my files to a folder full of cat photos from 2009. Still Jazz n Jewel, just younger black beasties.

ReplyDeleteMy first cat was a black one (it was bought by my father when I was born), but I haven't had one since - there's been a long line of tabbies and greys, with a couple of gingers... The green eyes mesmerise :)
Alexia: We have had black cats for a while - but also tabbies and white cats. My skinny portion would like another white cat - or perhaps a British Blue. I would like a Maine Coon...

A kitty post! I am in heaven! One of our cats is black as well. He is the best natured cat I have even known. I know from your older posts that this is not always the case, though :)
ReplyDeletejenny_o: I once had, and still mourn, a black cat with an absolutely charming nature. His favourite spot in the world was upside down in my lap, preferably with a mug of tea warming his belly. That said, he was also a very naughty cat and needed his charm.
DeleteI have a big weakness for black cats, and both Jazz n Jewel are rescue cats. While they fell on their feet, I can't imaging life without them.
Definitely partners in crime those two.
ReplyDeleteWindsmoke: It changes with the wind. They often trot around together and then for no apparent reason he will launch an attack. If stopped he attacks me.

DeleteHamper G and I have enjoyed these pictures together, thankyou. She is on a waiting list for an operation to remove some teeth . . . Her reward will be a cat! . . I'm sure he/she will love our "20odd" hamsters!

DeleteYour cats are adorable. I am a hugeeeeeeeeeeeee cat lover myself and I confess I cannot imagine my life, my house without a cat around...preferably two or three :).
ReplyDeleteunikorna: Life without cats is incomplete. I approached the local cat rescue society less than two weeks after the preceding cat had died. Not because I wanted to replace him - they are all irreplaceable, but because I couldn't bear the house without a cat. And a year or so later we went back for seconds.

DeleteAs a big cat lover (kind of desperate since I'm also highly allergic to cats) and especially black cats I truly love your images of these beautiful creatures. They have such personalities! I LOVE the photo of them in the wardrobe - it is so cat!
ReplyDeleteCarola Bartz: The wardrobe is a bit of a sore point. Jewel is unable to open the doors to the wardrobe, so Jazz does it for her. She hops inside and nests and he follows - both of them leaving a patina of black fur on all our clean clothing.

DeleteOh, how lovely. Did you know that black cats are supposed to be the most mellow and friendly? In cats, hair color is not just connected with disposition, but in the case of calicos, with gender (nearly all calicos are female).
ReplyDeleteSnowbrush: I have almost always had black cats and some of them have indeed been mellow, friendly and even loving. Jazz is friendly but neither mellow nor loving where I am concerned. I am bleeding as I type from where he stretched up my leg and flexed.

ReplyDeleteKakka: They may both be rescue cats but we got the better end of the deal. Which I say knowing that some might say that they are seriously spoilt.
DeleteReally? I didn't know marmelade cats were usually male. I've had plenty of calicos in my time and only one black cat. I found that people sometimes were mean to him just because they thought he was a bad luck omen. A good swift kick on their rear taught them better manners. ( I suppose after kicking them, they concluded that black cats were truly bad luck for them.)

I suspect that anyone trying to be mean to Jazz would spill blood. He is not a patient boy. However he is also a coward and visitors to the house have him scuttling away (belly to the ground) and hiding in our wardrobe.
