Like River I generally run with a theme. Yesterday morning we started the day with fog and frost. When the sun started making valiant attempts to break through I wandered out to pick up the papers. There were many, many sparrows greeting the sun with noisy chirps from within the crab-apple tree and at least a little blue sky... An hour later, there was nothing BUT blue sky. Ohh, a very dramatic sky. How wonderful to see those clouds opening up and revealing the blue!

DeleteWhat a lovely frosty morning EC. Your view is much like nine, whichever direction I photograph, I have trees on the sky-line.
ReplyDeleteArija: Another early bird I see. I love the trees, and would like to see more of them. We lost quite a few from the skyline during the bushfires, but some are recovering and others are growing.
DeleteI enlarged them and enjoyed gazing at the pretty birds in the tree, with that sky behind them. And then the clouds, blue sky, silver linings... so lovely. Thank you, dear EC. :-)

I am also sorry I am facing summer. If I had my way it would stay fall or spring all year. But then, we wouldn't appreciate it because there would be no contrasts. Great post EC, as usual ...

Andrea: Thank you. It was a very dramatic start to the day. It started with soft greys and damp and moody feel, and then the sun just started to burst through. Winter is fine - summer not so much.

Gary: I do like the peace of the early morning - one of my most favourite times of day. Thank you - and I hope you get the summer that has passed you by for a few years.
DeleteMy favourite here is the middle one, that streak of blue is full of hope somehow. We're starting off our days with clouds too, but often enough have sunny blue skies by the time I'm dressed.
ReplyDeleteRiver: It was such a quick turn-around. Total cloud cover, with fog which prevented me seeing across the street, then to moody skies, and then to a blazing blue. All in about an hour and a hal.
Deleteit takes a moment to realise taht tehre are trees tehre and then it puts everything into perspective.

Alexia: We usually have clear skies if we have frosts too. I think the fog must have come in just before the dawn when the frost had already settled.
DeleteBeautiful photographs EC and thanks for sharing your early morning with us. We don't have sparrows in W.A. They won't let them cross the Nullarbor; nor do we have blackbirds or mynah birds.
ReplyDeleteYou spoke of fogs and frosts. Many years ago one of our radio announcers said "There will be early frogs and fosts" when doing the weather report. I can remember it still. : )
We actually had frosts in Perth last week but we seldom see them nearer the coast where we live but further inland.
Mimsie: I didn't realise that you didn't have sparrows, blackbirds or the mynahs. I can do without the mynahs since they threaten our natives, but I have a soft spot for both of the others. I would remember 'frogs and fosts' too.

DeleteIt's always intrigued me...with the wide variety of birds we have here where I live, in the 11 years I've been living here, I've not seen one sparrow.

Lee: We have lots of them. Lots and lots and lots. Which is fine by me. Mimsie told me that they don't have sparrows in Perth either.

What a dramatic cloud formation! There's something magical about clouds, not sure what, but I could watch them for hours.
