Spring has sprung in a big way here. The garden is going gang-busters and more comes out each and every day. With a whole lot more to come.
I am delighting in it. Some of you (and you know who you are) have said gloating. I say revelling, you say gloating, but the beauty remains whatever the phrase. The scent and the colour is incredible.
These photos are from our garden over the last week. And there are rather a lot of them. (click to embiggen)

ReplyDeleteThank you, EC.
dinahmow: For those of us without hayfever (and a heartfelt thank you for desensitising injections) the air around the house is very, very heady at the moment.
DeleteThese are all so spectacular. How fortunate you are to enjoy these botanical treassures.
ReplyDeleteMyrna R.: Gardening is one of my obsessions and you may get bored to sobs with it yet.
DeleteThe pouring over the seed catalog is paying off! So perfectly gorgeous. :)
ReplyDeleteLynn: The garden pornography catalogues AND the blood, sweat and tears are paying dividends.
DeleteAll beautiful, but what is that first flower? It is just magnificent. We are delighting in your gloating.
ReplyDeleteStarting Over, Accepting Changes - Maybe: Thank you. The first (and the second) are camellias. There are five bushes along the front of the house - most of them taller than the house.
DeleteGlorious!!♥♫
ReplyDeleteMarlyn: Thank you so much.
DeleteThe fruits of your labour are breathtakingly beautiful, EC. Thanks so much for taking photos to share with us.
ReplyDeletejenny_o: And there are many more photos too.
DeleteYour garden must be such eye candy at the moment! How beautiful! The colors are wonderful - I wish I could see it in person.
ReplyDeleteCarola Bartz: Thank you.It is a treat at the moment - and every time I go outside I see something else which is about to burst into bloom. And there is much, much more to come.
DeleteYou may well gloat! These are all so gorgeous. That final daffodil, above the tulip, is a new one to me.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!
Alexia: I succumbed to rather a lot of 'special' daffodils this year - and don't regret it for an instant.
DeleteOh gosh, beautiful!! I really enjoyed embiggening them!
ReplyDeleteKaren: I am so glad.
DeleteWOW! Each and every flower is gorgeous! All combined, your yard must be breath-taking, both in sight and scent. Your own personal paradise.
ReplyDeleteSusan: Thank you. There was a lot of blood, sweat and tears involved - but it was worth it. So very worth it.
Deleteoh so lovely, the tulips! amazing.
ReplyDeletelibrarygirl: And there are more tulips coming out every day. And somewhere (I forget just where) there are a dozen green ones yet to come.
DeleteOh oh...the little purple ones....I love them.
ReplyDeleteDelores: I do too.
DeleteDazzling! So happy to see you Jazz and Jewel in such splendor :-)

Cloudia: Jewel snorts the fertiliser as I plant things (crack cocaine for cats). Jazz does limp falls on prize blooms and both of them enjoy the garden at least as much as I do.
DeleteLoved them, especially the camellias!! My mother-in-law used to have about a dozen camellia bushes/trees!!
ReplyDeletefishducky: Strictly speaking I think that camellias are bushes or shrubs, but no-one told ours that and they have reached tree height - which sounds as if it was also true of those at your mama-in-laws home.
DeleteOh yes! So much to delight in.
ReplyDeleteIt's not gloating when you have lovingly created a rich environment for them to grow in such beautiful abundance.
Hard work and toil reaps such glorious rewards - and it's perfectly right to share in the beauty.
Thank you so much for the lovely images of spring :)
Vicki: It possibly is gloating - but I don't care. And the garden (well the front and sides) are open for everyone to see. It is not as if I am hoarding it - except in memories and photos.
DeleteThank you.
Your garden is so amazing! You could charge admission.

Birdie: Thank you - It is a colourful jungle rather than a garden - but I like it that way. Don't think anyone would pay to see it though - which is fine. I don't want to do the extra work that would be needed.
DeleteI could stare at these all day, well into the night even, but that won't get my dinner cooked.
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous.
River: Thank you. I was worrying that I was going to bore people to sobs - and the comments have been lovely. I am very glad that other people also enjoy the garden.
DeleteAs we crawl dehydrated into autumn under the California sun, your beautiful photos fill me with hope. I feel better having seen them. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGeo.: Drought and heat do me in, so I am very, very glad if my garden gives you hope.
DeleteI like the purple ones, the anenomes and the photo below the white tulip. They seem alive, well they are alive, but the photos shout out with their color and vibrant explosions of life.
ReplyDeleteStrayer: The one under the white tulip is a close up of an anenome - a glorious thing. And the garden is a vibrant shout. I am very, very happy with it this season.
DeleteTHANK you for sharing your Springing!
ReplyDeleteSending love and light to your already blossoming world
and the beautiful heart you so kindly share:)
-Jennifer
Jennifer Richardson: Thank you. This season the garden isn't just springing, it is positively bouncing. And filling me with joy.
DeleteIndeed, a excellent collection of the pretty flowers..love your flowers.
ReplyDeleteMastHoliday: Thank you - we love them too.
DeleteSo, so beautiful! It's wonderful to be reminded of springtime as we in the Northern Hemisphere watch fall coming on. I just love your pretty pictures, EC. Thank you! :-)
ReplyDeleteDJan: Autumn is also a very special, and very beautiful time of year. Probably my favourite.
DeleteThe anemones just knock me out -- I don't have anything like that...
ReplyDeleteMinneapolis was 94 degrees on Monday. Today's high? 77. And so begins our descent into below-zero temperatures. :-)
Pearl
Pearl: Anenomes are little charmers aren't they? Given the choice of 94, or below zero I would opt for the cold. Every time. A good excuse for snuggling into bed and drinking hot chocolate too.
DeleteEvery last flower is spectacular! Absolutely gorgeous! You must have worked really hard to achieve all the splendid results.
ReplyDeleteBut I am reminded of Saint Paul, who, in writing about the church in Corinth, said,"I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase." (1 Corinthians 3:6-7)
Still, what a beautiful garden, El!
rhymeswithplague: Thank you. There was indeed rather a lot of blood, sweat and tears before the garden reached this point. As a non believer, I attribute the growth to hard work, science (feeding and nurturing the soil) and better than usual meteorological conditions. However, the beauty is real - wherever it comes from.
DeleteYou make my country look super dull! haha! These are so beautiful! We're approaching our cold months, so everything is crisp and falling off the trees... aka dying. :(
ReplyDeleteYes, gloating... you are gloating because I'm JEALOUS!
Enjoy the beauty!!!!!
Deb: You are about to go into Autumn - my favourite time of year which is equally spectacular. And the friend who has been telling me that I am gloating also enjoys the photos I send her.
DeleteBeautiful flowers, and far nicer to wake up to than what I did this morning. Thank you for sharing, EC.
ReplyDeleteJohn Wiswell: What did you wake up to this morning?
Delete*gasp* NOW I get it, and it is WEIRD. You are heading into spring, but you're a day ahead of us..... *going to my calendar with a calculator*
ReplyDeletelotta joy: The time/season difference does my head in too. Frequently.
DeleteA gorgous, sumptuous display of colur and beauty. You should gloat say I.
ReplyDeleteAll Consuming: With your permission, I will gloat - just a little...
DeleteHi EC What gorgeous selection of pretty flowers, beautiful shot.
ReplyDeleteMargaret Adamson: Thank you.
DeleteAll your hard work is paying off. So much to see. Beautiful! I bet you are so glad to see all this color and cheerfulness after all that you have been through. I am so happy that you are having so much color in your life. Keep posting pictures I love to see them!
ReplyDeleteTeresa: I am very glad to see it. And wander round the garden with a big fat smile on my dial.
DeleteWow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! That should just about express what I feel about those beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteLee: Thank you - they are bright aren't they?
DeleteAbsolutely, utterly breath taking. My favorites are the anemones, though they're all so beautiful. I know I've said it before... but you've got a serious green thumb.
ReplyDeleteRaquel Somatra: Thank you, but there are still some plants for which I have a seriously brown thumb. More work required.
DeleteI love all of your pretty poises. Their sweet smell must be delightful as you wander through your beautiful gardens.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the beauty of your gardens.
I hope you and SP are well and happy :)
Pam:): Thank you. The garden delights all of my senses. The skinny one continues to do the hard yards but there is finally a little light at the end of the tunnel.
DeleteYou grow all of these?! I am so impressed. I mean, I have had cacti die in my care due to neglect. And you take such great photos too!
ReplyDeleteRiot Kitty: Yup, we grow them all. A lot of them are bulbs - which are pretty much set and forget gardening. Always a win.
Deleteyou so got my portion of green fingers :-)
ReplyDeleteMark Koopmans: Nope. Green fingers I don't have. Brown often, from grubbing in the ground - but gardening doesn't come naturally. It is hard work - with lots of benefits.
DeleteMagnificent...beautiful...fantastic....running out of suitable adjectives but now I can gloat that I have a friend who has a beautiful garden. : )
ReplyDeleteMimsie: What a lovely thing to say - and I am very happy to share it.
DeleteIt's exciting to see all the spring flowers, such a gorgeous variety. Thank you so much! These certainly bring an early morning smile.
ReplyDeleteDeniseinVA: I am very glad to have given you a smile.
DeleteSTOP GLOATING, WOULD YOU? Haha! If I had your garden, I'd surely gloat/revel, whatever. Plus, feel slightly smug as I passed neighbors' "inferior" gardens. :)
ReplyDeleteMs. CrankyPants: I am indeed still revelling (gloating). Though there are people nearby whose gardens I lust after...
DeleteThose are all beautiful flowers!
ReplyDeleteSherry Ellis: Welcome - and thank you.
DeleteHow utterly lovely!
ReplyDeleteladyfi: Thank you. It has been a good start to Spring.
DeleteHow many types of daffodils did you set out?! They are so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI remember your post about the dangers of garden catalogs. I'd say you faced down the danger well.
Love them all, esp. the anemone.
Susan Kane: We put in literally thousands of bulbs. The daffodils are now (mostly) past their best but the tulips are still coming on, and there are lots more things yet to bloom. Greed and obsession in the garden.
Deleteyou brought a smile to my face....just seeing this beauty!!
ReplyDeleteKim @ Stuff could...: I am so glad. How is your cousin?
DeleteAh yes, your spring, springs. The flower power is demonstration with their dazzling array. And now the first leaves have fallen in Britain.
ReplyDeleteHello from the Northern Hemisphere to the Southern Hemisphere. Happy spring from a happy autumn.
Gary :)
klahanie: Hi Gary. I love Autumn too - and am very glad to hear the Penny is feeling better. So a happy Autumn to you, to the modest internet superstar and to Tristan.
DeleteEC, as we quietly move towards autumn and the tress begin to take on their glorious fall colors seeing you flower images is a wonderful reminder of what spring looks like after our hottest summer on record.
ReplyDeleteSimply lovely.
Nice to know that Spring is just around the corner (of the world)
ReplyDeleteAndrew Maclaren-Scott: Spring has decidedly sprung here.
DeleteOooooh! I am late to the party (must put you in my blog list) but oh my goodness, EC, thank you for the colour and general gorgeousness. I have a bag of daffodils on the garage table that are moaning quietly and I seem to hear your slightly evil laugh each time I pass to get in the car.....
ReplyDeleteGillie: Never too late. Evil laugh? Moi? Yup. And if you are just entering Autumn you have plenty of time to plant those daffodils (and buy more...).
DeleteStunning :)
ReplyDeleteGlorious!
wordsfallfrommyeyes: Thank you. It is a daily treat.
