Sunday Selections #167

Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files.

The meme is now continued by River at Drifting through life.  The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent.  Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to River.

Like River I usually run with a theme.  This week I am again looking to the sky for inspiration (and beauty).  Dusk and dawn, taken over the last month or so.

I will be slow visiting other blogs and responding to comments left on mine today.  Yesterday I started two full days of training for Lifeline.  In their wisdom the organisers decided that we could cover the material in a day.  We did.  I feel like chewed string and am going to put this post up and go back to bed, and hopefully to sleep.

Pre-dawn to start.  I took this on Friday, delighted to see a star, before it started raining again.  If you click and embiggen there will be a little detail in the sky.

And then a much more colourful dawn ten days ago

And then some sunset shots.  That moody sky had me out the door to do the mad woman with camera dance in seconds flat.  I even postponed wine o'clock.

PS:  I haven't forgotten that I promised video of the corellas indulging in pigeon battery, but they have (naturally) been recalcitrant about performing in front of the camera.  It will happen.  Sooner rather than later I hope.

  1. Oh the progression of photographs is so spectacular together here, love all the colors, these are superb, they'd be lovely enlarged and printed on wrapped canvas. Have you ever done that with your photos. I blew up a couple of mine and one of my Gary's of some old trucks and entered them in a show and Gary won a blue ribbon and sold the photo, Ha

  3. Did you make a wish on that star? I still do that when I see a lone star (but alas, as Colin Firth still hasn't proposed to me, I can't say that it's a particularly successful strategy)

As for the sunrise and sunset photos, I'm just going to go with "WOW". I tried to pick a favourite but found it impossible. I love the golden hours too and after seeing this collection, I wish that I wasn't so lazy that I miss many dawns.

    1. Marie: Of course I wished on that star. How could I not?
And rather a lot of my photos are of dusk and dawn. I have rather a lot of folders with that title. Month by month, year by year.

  8. Another wonderful array of photos, EC. I particularly like the predawn one...there's something quite magical about it.

I hope you managed to go back to bed and caught up with rest and sleep. Don't worry about us....we'll still be here when you wake up! :)

    Have a great week.

Lifeline is a telephone crisis line - and the weekend's training (retraining) was in suicide intervention. Important - and gruelling.

  21. The skies are first glorious then wonderfully moody, I love them.
Two days training crammed into one? No wonder you feel like a piece of chewed string. Had a budget cut did they? Yet the gubmint sees nothing wrong with paying Mr Rann way too much including his rent.
Can't he pay his own rent? He has enough income!

    Replies
    1. River: They cut the training back so those volunteers who also work could have at least part of a weekend. Which I understood - but it was too much for me. And I am so angry about the areas the guvmint feels free to cut, and the people it continues to support. I think they have it round the wrong way.
