Like River I usually run with a theme. This week? I am looking to the sky. We have had a little blessed rain this week. Not a lot (until yesterday) but it was very, very welcome. And yesterday we got real rain. Drenching rain. And the garden and I are very glad.

DeleteWhen we were children, we used to lie flat on the ground and stare at the sky / clouds moving by. I wonder why we stop doing this as we get older?
DeleteGuyana-Gyal: In my case because of the difficulty of getting up again. Though I did lie on the floor in our National Gallery to look at a Chihuly glass installation. So worth it.

ReplyDeleteHope more rain comes your way. It's hard to comprehend what it must be like in the heat of summer. Here in NZ (where I live at any rate) rainfall is not a problem. We are lucky. Very lucky.
Wendy: Our garden had been crispified in the heat and the dry. This very welcome rain will give us a respite before we head back into the burning days. Sadly we very, very rarely get enough rain. And never in summer.

DeleteA woman I worked with said that in her part of Poland it was too polluted to EVER see a rainbow. Her children had never seen one before they migrated to Oz. I found that sooooo sad.
I love your sunset shots! Tell me the truth, did you go hunt for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow? Did you run into an angry leprechaun when you got there? I got a nuisance report about you from one of them... ;)
ReplyDeleteRiver Fairchild: That leprechaun is a stranger to the truth. I wasn't dressed when I saw the rainbow, so didn't go hunting for gold. If I had there would have been dozens of nuisance/visual pollution reports. Justifed complaints.
DeleteI have never found the end of a rainbow but I will keep looking. There must be a pot of gold at the end.

Maybe it's the stories of the pot of gold at the end or the fact that they only last for a short time. Sunsets also make for amazing photos. Mimsie: Rainbows are a rare treat here too. For most of last week we got very little rain. Brief showers and a LOT of wind. We lost a rose to the wind - it snapped at ground level. A sadness. Yesterday was wonderful, mostly gentle, soaking rain though we got less than half as much as some parts of town. Predicted again today - and not a drop.

Merlesworld: We got the rainbow before we had any meaningful rain. Lots of thunder, lots of wind and a few drops of rain. Until yesterday when we got quite a lot. More was predicted for today - and I would have welcomed it, but it wasn't a happening thing.
