Words for Wednesday

This meme was started by Delores a long time ago.  Computer issues led her to bow out for a while.  The meme was too much fun to let go, and now Words for Wednesday is provided by a number of people and has become a movable feast.

Essentially the aim is to encourage us to write.  Each week we are given a choice of prompts: which can be words, phrases, music or an image.   What we do with those prompts is up to us:  a short story, prose, a song, a poem, or treating them with ignore...  We can use some or all of the prompts.

Some of us put our creation in comments on the post, and others post on their own blog.  I would really like it if as many people as possible joined into this fun meme, which includes cheering on the other participants.  If you are posting on your own blog - let me know so that I, and other participants, can come along and applaud.

This month the prompts will be posted here.

This weeks prompts are:

  1. invincible
  2. wander
  3. goofy
  4. supreme
  5. purring
  6. pretend

And/or

  1. linen
  2. kick
  3. puny
  4. immense
  5. zoom
  6. sound
The prompts will be here again next month but provided by Margaret Adamson and her friend Sue Fulton.  The prompts will include photographs taken by Margaret's friend Bill.  Cindi has offerred to provide the prompts for January 2018 and will post them on her blog.

After that it is open to offers.  If you are willing/able to provide the prompts please let me know in the comments, specifying which month(s) suit you best.

  1. Washing and ironing the linen can wait. Will wait. Come wander the pathways of my mind.
When the problems of the world seem immense, and I know that my puny self can do nothing I let my imagination run free. Goofy? Perhaps, but it works for me.
As the karma queen I zoom through the skies, breaking the speed of sound and use my super powers to kick evildoers in the butt. On other days I am evil, sophisticated and beautiful, purring at the destruction I can wreak.
I get immense satisfaction from my games. Come join me. Who will you be?

  4. Thank you for this month's words, EC. They've been fun to play with. :)

"I WANDER through the field, lost in my own thoughts, with not a SOUND other than the PURRING of my cat, who never leaves my side, to disturb the peace.

In the solitude of my surroundings it’s easy for me to PRETEND I’m INVINCIBLE...for once in my life a SUPREME being, instead of the usual GOOFY, awkward person I am. I’ve become Super Woman. I can ZOOM through the blue yonder at will saving the world.

My imagination, as always, is wildly out of control. My vivid imagination is the only thing that keeps me going.

If only I could KICK my shyness to the kerb it would make an IMMENSE difference to my PUNY life.

Looking at the ornate invitation, one made from flax fibres, with its LINEN-like appearance and feel, I wonder if I am capable of plucking up the courage to attend the grand affair. Perhaps if I could garner the courage to face the madding crowd it would change my life, for the best, forever."

  6. THe first six: invincible wander goofy supreme purring pretend

The goofy cat, supreme in his omnipotence, purred happily a la couch .... pretending that he had not seen us return from our wander around the woods ... invincible that he would not be turfed off his sofa seat ... as we decided on tea and cake.

    Cheers Hilary

  8. The sound and smell of the fresh linen as I got into bed made me feel special, being rather hot I though later in the night I would kick the side out that was tucked in to help keep my feet cool.
Auntie had certainly gone to immense trouble for my yearly visit.
Grab my iPad to read the news but had to zoom in to look at this punky looking women dressed in black from head to toe, and I wondered why – I’m still wondering why!

    Well I had a go :)

  10. The GOOFY cat liked to WANDER and PRETEND he was INVINCIBLE, certain he reigned SUPREME over his little corner of the world. But at the end of the day the little feline could be found curled up in a ball, PURRING in my lap. Both of us content to sit and rock, watching the sun set and daydreaming of new adventures that dawn would bring.

  15. Hope you're back soon, EC, with your computer issues fixed. In the meantime, I heard a purring sound coming from the linen cupboard. I wandered over, and to my immense surprise, it wasn't a puny cat after all. It was a cicada, of immense size as cicadas go, making a zooming sound. I kicked the door shut in order to get some peace.
