Sunday Selections #369

Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files.
 
The meme is now continued by River at Drifting through life.  The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent.  Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to River.  Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen. 
 
Like River I usually run with a theme. My city is in festival mode at the moment and the Enlighten festival started last Friday.  The powers that be have decided in their wisdom to spread it across the city.  We went to the Parliamentary Triangle and were a tad disappointed.  The buildings are still illuminated but there seems to be a lot less quirky fun and whimsy than other years.  Perhaps it has been spread too thin?

Just the same we are glad we went.  And may go back again next week.

Many, many photos were taken.  And quite a lot of them will probably feature here.

We started at the National Gallery.  I do love this orb.  It is a permanent feature and I take a photo of it almost every time I see it.

 The Night Noodle Markets were on again (of course because it is a money spinner).  The queues were long, there was nowhere to sit and the food smelt singed to us.  I did like the illuminated lanterns though.  A lot.

 Unannounced and over virtually before it started there were fireworks at about half-past eight.

The jellyfish was a welcome return to quirkiness.  It changed colour and I believe that there are others in the city somewhere.

While they look a little like wasp nests these were musical installations.  If you waved your hand near them they made a noise.  While lots of people were playing there were no musicians among their ranks... 

Despite the lack of whimsy and quirky fun the area looked very different under coloured lights.  And the atmosphere was cheerful and the crowd happy.  Always a win.

I have missed you in my blog break and over the next little while hope to catch up.  I am still coughing, but much, much less now.  Not only will I live, it doesn't seem like an imposition.
