Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files.
Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.
The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life.
Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks), and I have accepted the mantle.
I usually run with a theme. This week I am reverting to type. Skyscapes, and then a wander through our garden in the (very) early morning.
These photos were taken just after first light over a number of days. The very early morning is one of my favourite times of day.
And of course if I am outside with my camera the garden will trigger my shutter finger as well.
Yes, I know. Yet another photo heavy post. We also squeezed in a kangaroo fix last week. Photos to follow.

DeleteI love the morning as well. The world seems so clean no matter what the jumble is around you. But the nighttime sky is also a joy when there are clouds. I love the redness of clouds just before the sun sets below the horizon. Life is good.

Ann Bennett: I watch the sky with delight at any (and very time of day). That mushroom (known among other things as a Japanese umbrella) is delicate and fragile. I see it early but it is usually gone by lunchtime.

DeleteIn Guyana, we call mushroom "jumbie umbrella" because they grow in the graveyard. And "jumbie" is our word for ghosts.
neena maiya (guyana gyal): I love the name jumbie umbrella. This particular mushroom lasts such a short time (and is gone when the sun is fully up) that the name is entirely appropriate.

My two furry besties wake me each morning around 4.40 to 4.45 am demanding their breakfast...and then they promptly go back to sleep!

Lee: I have been watching the temperatures your way and shuddering. Ours have been very, very variable. A change of more than 20 degrees (C) is not uncommon. Jazz often wakes me before your overlords do and doesn't think that I should go back to sleep.

DeleteThe early bird certainly caught the bird by looking up and not down. I haven’t seen many sunrises recently but did notice the bright moon recently on my midnight trips to the loo. No I didn’t even contemplate it lol

DeleteIt's a spectacular sky in the first and fourth photo. Same morning maybe. Your garden must be so interesting to wander through and that looks like a perfect rose bloom.
ReplyDeleteAndrew: You are right, the first four shots were taken on the same morning. The garden is a work in progress always and I have found that I need to wander round with my camera to notice the beauty rather than the work which is always needed.

ReplyDeleteI can't wait until next year for my own lilies to bloom. I lost several giant lilies to the flood last year. I was very disappointed. Some survived but others didn't.

BEa: Living so close to the beach sounds pretty damn wonderful to me. Those daisies are wonderful aren't they - and new varieties keep coming out to tempt me. And I succumb.

DeleteThe clouds make me think of being a little girl with my sister. We would lie on our backs in the grass and tell each other the shapes we saw in the clouds.

DeleteIf I kneel on the floor, I nearly cry with the pain. The gigantic thing-a-ma-bob in the living room required dusting recently. I had to ask Favorite Young Man to dust the bottom shelf, which he accomplished with aplomb.
