Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files.

The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life.
Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks), and I have accepted the mantle.
The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent. Post
some
photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me.
Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.
I
usually run with a theme. This week I am (mostly) reverting to type. I adore skyscapes and clouds and am not going to admit just how many folders of similar photos I have stored on the PC.
As usual most of these photos were taken shortly after dawn.
I wandered into the back garden on that foggy morning and was delighted by spider webs festooned with dew.
I really liked this mobile and wonder just how many times I have wandered under it and missed seeing it.
I hope your week to come is packed with beauty (expected and unexpected).
Your Autumn skyscape photos are beautiful. It's strange looking at the colorful leaves dropping from the trees as our have just turning green. I do love Autumn colors.
ReplyDeleteI don't care much for malls either. I didn't realized that it was a mobile in the skylight. I was looking at it and was wondering if it was painted on the glass until I read the caption.

DeleteA lovely group of photos, EC. Like you, I hate shopping centres, too. I never go near them. It has been many years since I have done so. Our little shopping area up here on the mountain suits me just fine...my supermarket and newsagency! :) Anything else I need that I can't get here on the hill, I purchase online...far less hassles by far that way...for me, anway.

DeleteIt looks so cold in your photos, even with sunshine. I haven't seen spider webs with dew since I was a child, and aren't they so pretty. Nor am I keen on shopping centres but there is often something in the way of public art to find interesting.

DeleteIt seems we are returning to the classic winter weather that I remember when I first moved here: crisp air, cold nights with frost, sunny days and lingering autumn colours. I have been surprised by early jonquils and on a less happy note forgot to protect pots of orchids on one frosty night.

Sue: Canberra does these seasons well doesn't it? Our cymbidiums stay on the veranda (front and back) all year round. So far they haven't objected. We too have early jonquils - and anemones.
DeleteYour sky shots are always terrific, Sue, and serve to remind me how little attention I pay to the sky. I vow to change my ways but it never seems to happen, except when I am far from a city and can marvel at the night sky. It is a sight like no other.

DeleteYour final fall colors are popping while we here pop into summer in a few days. Shopping malls are a bore, but that would be nice to see if one looked up at least. I'm a little afraid of malls. There are so many mass shootings here and malls seem a favorite of the gun crazy psycho mass murderers.

DeleteWe had just enough hot weather this past week to make me welcome that rain that is falling now. Since I've been retired from over 50 years of radio, I generally avoid getting up before 9am. Although covid forced me to adopt a once a week grocery shopping regimen, hitting the store around 7am. I go back to bed when I get home. That has little to do with the excellence of your pictures, and how glad I was to see them.

ReplyDeleteI don't mind malls too much but (cynically) think of the decorations as something the corporate management reluctantly do, as minimally as possible, to keep the shoppers happy. If it's not designed to please the shopper (i.e. make them stay) they wouldn't spend the money on it. Bah humbug, etc. ... However, at least the one in your photo reminds me of tree branches and leaves, and it's very different from what we see here, so that's a plus :)
jenny_o: I saw abstract birds in flight in that mobile and of course I loved it. Most of our mall decorations here are definitely designed to spur the spending urge. We start getting Christmas Decorations in late spring... Hiss and spit.

DeleteI love foggy mornings with the stillness in the air it brings, the intricacies of a cobweb draws me in. It's not easy to take photos so I am impressed with these. Not a fan of shopping malls either but I'm glad you found a pretty to take a photo of. These are all delightful photos!

DeleteThere are some people in the world who hardly ever look up at the sky. It seems hard to believe but when I used to lead walks in the English and Welsh countryside I often had to point out approaching rain to people. I'm glad you're not one of those folks or we'd all have been deprived of some fine photographs.

DeleteThe spider webs came out beautiful, the first one is huge and it must have taken a long time for this master piece to be created. You caught the dew on the second web nicely. Pink and yellow autumn leaves, nature has its own beauty.

DeleteI love that last photo. When we lived in the country the spider webs usually ended up on my face. Seems like I was always walking through them, so I'm not the world's biggest fan. I do admire their beauty though, esp. when droplets of water accentuate.
