Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files.
Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.
The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life. Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks), and I have accepted the mantle.
The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent. Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.
I usually run with a theme. This week? Winter mornings. We are finally getting some frosts. It isn't cold enough yet to freeze bubbles but I have hopes. We have had clear mornings, foggy mornings and definitely cool temperatures. I like it, though the other household residents (human and feline) disagree.

DeleteLovely pictures of the frost on leaves. Being a rug hooker, it had me thinking of a pattern, that would look good on a rug.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what kind of lens you are using on your camera, but the picture of the moon with all the landscape details is absolutely incredible. I've never been able to take a great picture of the moon, no matter what I do. Whatever settings you use, it's perfect.

Julia: I find the moon hard to capture too. And some of these photos are MUCH better than others. I find it easier when there is some cloud on the moon.
DeleteIt’s a good job we don’t all like the same thing isn’t it……’pretty’ though it looks I’m wondering if your plants were damaged by the frost. For all my complaining about the cold it’s a long time since we had frost like that down here in Melbourne.

Cathy: We will get (I hope) much harder frosts than these. Frost is a given for much of our winters. And yes, moon shots are challenging. A great white blob in the sky is a frequent result of my attempts.

DeleteI love the moon photos and the frosty filigrees, the trees and their misty backgrounds... no frozen bubbles yet? We had a few frosts in May but at the moment it's pretty much all wind and/or rain.

Alexia: No frozen bubbles yet. It needs to be quite a colder. At the moment the frost melts away not long after first light. We have had no rain to speak of - but definitely wind. And the wind has been blowing over snow.

DeleteI love the moon shots and the frost filigree is beautiful. I'm glad you broke the ice on the water, do the birds still drink when the water is that cold? I'd be tempted to warm it a bit but maybe that's wrong of me. We don't get frosts here until later in the year and I am never up early enough to see any.

I love the frost filigrees! That moon looks cool and shivery, too. We're at the longest day of the year here, and we still haven't had a day over 22C. Mostly we've been in the high teens, overcast and rainy. I'm hoping for a bit of heat for the garden; but after last year's 42C heat dome, I'm afraid to wish too hard! :-)

DeleteI like a good cold winter, not like polar bitter cold but normal cold is a lot better than ghastly humid heat. I like my seasons well demarcated. And I love the pastel painting quality of the early morning skies.
ReplyDeleteEver since the relocation, my blogging schedule has gone for a sixer. I don't like that either, I need a bit of structure and routine and each activity on its appointed day and a day for everything. Just too topsy turvy at present. That freaks me out a bit.

DeleteSo nice to be back and seeing your side of the world. I quite forgot your part is in winter mode cos it seems June is usually linked to summer. The frost on the leaves forms a lovely new pattern to the plant. The full moon is HUGE enough for an excuse to bring out the wolf in humans.
