Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files. Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.
The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life. Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks), and I have accepted the mantle.
The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent. Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.
I usually run with a theme. Goodness I lead an exciting life (not). This week I am taking you back to my general practioner's waiting room (and I wish that the other medicos I see had such interesting spots to wait, wait and wait some more, and to the shopping centre around it.
Starting with some more close-ups from that fascinating wallpaper. Every time I go I see more things in it.
And then to the shopping centre itself. As well as the sheep outside the centre which I have showed you before, there are more sculptures in it.

DeleteI would love to have a wall covered in that wall paper! The dingo with the glowing green eyes is not an animal I want to meet. Let's hope its a lookalike sheep dog and not abou to attack the sheep from behind while the beetle watches like its a TV thriller.

DeleteThe wallpaper is great. The animals wearing fur coats are interesting. I'd like to have a wall with that wallpaper--perhaps in my bedroom or even better, my family room. A rug with that pattern might be nice, too.

Lee: I really, really like that wallpaper - and yes I have seen children enjoying it too. I am still struggling but Batty at least is mostly doing better - though he really doesn't like his inhaler.

They are wonderful and have the fantasy element making them just off the edge of the realism cliff. Thank you for always finding things to share with us, even in the midst of your boredom. That wallpaper is fantastic, and it was a brilliant choice for a doctor's waiting room. Very cool all around. (And I love the chainlink sheep - it made me chuckle!)

Bleubeard and Elizabeth: The wallpaper is a delight isn't it? I think the dog is a dingo, one of Australia's few native predators. It does look mean doesn't it? Batty is improving, which is lovely. He really only wheezes on high wind and pollen days now.

ReplyDeleteI have to visit the osteopath on Monday and I am not expecting any interesting wallpaper there! There is so much to look at in the wallpaper at your Doctor's. I agree that the dingo/sheepdog looks a bit fierce - hopefully it is just because he is protecting the sheep. The beetle reminds me of the scarab beetle sculptures, beads and paintings we saw everywhere in Egypt, thirty years ago.

I have wallpapered in the past and sometimes lining up the pattern was a bit of a nightmare, so the one you are showing us must have been a challenge. It certainly is interesting, though. You may be the only person Sue, who sits in the doctor’s waiting room and takes pictures of the walls!

As I said in response to another comment I am a beauty addict and will happily photograph it where I find it. I did get some peculiar looks (both visits) when I was taking photographs of the wallpaper though.

DeleteI am quite taken with that leopard, I love the colours and if only more medical clinics had such enticements to watch. I will never forget my md who had the most incredible large fish tank in his waiting room. Full of tropicals. Everyone was visibly relaxed just looking at it.

Wisewebwoman: I rather like the leopard too. And lots of the other animals depicted there. You are right about fish tanks being soothing - though they are a bugger to keep clean. My dentist has a poster on her ceiling - which helps.
DeleteI find the animals comforting. Most medical offices are dreary and often have a somewhat dystopian atmosphere. Hardly helpful for the nervous patient (me).

DeleteI love all the artwork that is displayed around your city. Every time you show us something new. That wallpaper in the waiting room is fascinating. Here, waiting rooms are awfully boring, but at least some of them have at least delightful photography. Thankfully so far the waiting has never been long (and I always have my Kindle with me).

Next time you are there, picture all of us sitting with you and smiling as we find the parts you photographed :) I love the fanciful takes on regular animals. On the other hand, that canine statue's gleaming eyes make the hair on my neck stand up ... wouldn't want to meet him in the dark, real or not. We have nearly zero public art here. I wonder why.

Batty is doing much better at the moment which is lovely. Our next challenge is to get his weight down.
