Sunday Selections #668

Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files. Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.

The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life.  Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks), and I have accepted the mantle.

The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent.  Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.

I usually run with a theme. This week we are going back to Enlighten.  Many of the buildings in the Parliamentary Triangle were illuminated.  As I so often say, come wander with me. Slowly.

Starting at our National Library.

Then to the Portrait Gallery.

Old Parliament House (which the powers that be would prefer we call the Museum of Australian Democracy). This year the illuminations were a tribute to some of the workers at that building...

Then to Questacon - celebrating science and technology.

Finishing up at our National Library.

There is a lot to see and a lot to experience.  There are plenty of places willing to take your money or you can take as we did the free option and just wander.  And enjoy.

I hope you find light in your week.

...the 80's. I am old enough to remember them. Not willing to go back!

That black shadow taking a selfie... oy vey. What a tribute to modern distraction. Makes ya think.

    1. Sandi: That black shadow is a statue - but it does look like someone taking a selfie doesn't it (and I will probably always look at it that way now).

  4. Hi EC - it must be an inspiring or more than one exhibition (within the Exhibition spaces) ... I'd love to visit to understand more and actually see these amazing designs. Gorgeous - no wonder you love taking as much in as you can - even slowly. Thank you for sharing with us ... cheers Hilary

  6. River Fairchild - Thank you for sharing your wanderings with us! So many things to see in your city. So much color and beauty everywhere, no matter what season it is. I’m sure you have residents who never venture out to see what’s going on. Too bad for them and I’m glad you’re not one of them.
Be kind to yourself as the week progresses and I hope you feel okayish. Hugs to you.

    1. River Fairchild: As you know I am a beauty addict and hunt it out. I don't have far to look either. I am sure that some people do miss out on a lot of things - and indeed we do too. I hope this coming week is indeed okish. More appointments. Sigh. And the week after too.

Take care and rest those feet.

  29. I asked my ACT cousin if she went to Enlighten, and she said no, it was too crowded, but I think that's a shame as it looks so interesting. We should take opportunities to enjoy creativity when they are offered. Oh well.... I have enjoyed going there with you via the photos!

    1. Shammickite: We tend not to go on the weekend for that reason, but mid week the crowds are quite reasonable. I am glad we went. And agree with you about celebrating creativity.
