Sunday Selections #116

Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files.

The meme is now continued by River at Drifting through life.  The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent.  Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to River.

Like River I generally run with a theme. One evening this week the sky seemed to catch fire as the sun went down, resulting in a much more vivid sunset than we usually see.  Joy and bliss.

And such a useful sunset it was too.  I also used it to illustrate my latest post at Vision and Verb.  As some of you know, I am a collaborator there and post with them once every three weeks.  It was such a privilege to be invited, because the other collaborators are SUCH talented women.  If you get the chance, come and visit...

  1. Sometimes it's nicer to simply enjoy, ignoring the scientific reasons for it.

  2. What a gorgeous, molten sky!! Such a gift to be able to see and share. The second and third ones are my favorite, they look so other-worldly! But they are ALL stunning!

    2. LOL, thanks for the exalted title! :-) Our skies should get 90% of the credit, my camera 9.5%, and I'll take what's left merely for making the tiny bit of effort expended to look outside, grab my camera, point it in the right direction and push a button. :-)

This sky of yours gives Wyoming's best a run for the money, believe me!

  4. Oooh, so pretty. Lucky you to have been there to witness it. Lucky us that you shared it!

*Totally* off topic (sorry!), but I can't seem to find your email address to ask directly, am wondering if would mind telling me about Ditropan? Just got some (hooray!) and was curious about how long it took to work for you, and if you take one or two pills daily. Also, any side effects? Many, many thanks!

    1. Ms. CrankyPants: I take Ditropan morning and night - and it has made a very, very big difference. And did so quite quickly - about a week I think. Good luck. Side effect - very, very dry mouth. Not really helped for more than a few minutes by drinking. Dry mouth toothpaste and mouthwash.

  8. Stunning sunset, thank you so much for sharing it. We have so many trees around us that we have to make do with brief glimpses.

  11. That is one spectacular sunset! I looked at the pictures again and again and suddenly the second last one jumped up at e and I wondered why. So I looked and looked again and finally saw that it is that the clouds at the top are a little darker thus setting off that spectacular light to even better advantage.

    Sorry about the analysis.

    1. Arija: It was a much, much more vivid sunset than were usually see, perhaps because it happened shortly after a brief rain storm. And you analysis was fine - thank you.
