Sunday Selections #128

Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files.

The meme is now continued by River at Drifting through life.  The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent.  Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to River.

River is away this week, having a long overdue holiday.  She will be back next week.  This week was very, very busy here.  We are preparing for the skinny one's surgery on Monday, and I was demankifying the house for his sister's arrival.  In the middle I had another abortive appointment with the pain management clinic.  After which I demanded a treat.

So we went down to the lake to look at kangaroos.  As always clicking on photos will embiggen them.  You will see some fences in the background.  They are not to keep the kangaroos in, but to keep them out of a construction area.  The first photos are all of the same devoted mama and her joey.

And then rather a lot more photos.  The first is the joey I showed you earlier.

And I did feel soooo much better after this interlude.  So much so that we went back yesterday.

I am likely to be a fly by night blogger next week.  The hospital, the smaller portion and his sister are likely to use all of my time and energy.  I will catch up when I can.

Aren't kangas just lovely. So relaxed when they do. So funny when they scratch their head or stomach. and as for the boxing!
There are, of course, about 20,000 insurance claims each year by drivers who bust their speeding cars by hitting Skippy.
We need those fences around every single country road. That would sure stimulate the damn economy.

  16. Cuteness overload! What is it about roos - they are so lovely, and as you say, calming. One time in the Grampians I stayed in a motel where there were several kangas living on the front lawn, joeys and all. I just wanted to sit on the motel deck and watch them - to heck with going for a hike in the hills!

Dear EC - all the very best for tomorrow and the following days. Look after yourself.

We used to raise orphan baby roos in WA. One, Cleo, used to come into town with my three big dogs in the back of the wagon. All would wait patiently in the car with the back window down while I shopped.
Used to get more than a few glances from passers by, when they would see dog, dog, roo, dog... what the?? Haha!
She went on to be released in the national park and raise her own babies.

  47. Comment # 93 ... oh my, I am slow on the draw. I have to start by asking ... demankifying? It's not in the dictionary :)

So it's back to the hospital for the SK ... I am so sorry. You two have been through so much and it seems to continue on. I hope that all of this will eventually lead to a happy resolution.

I think going to visit the Kangaroos was a wonderful idea, especially since they have Joeys which are reminders to us that life does go on. I had the privilege of holding a Joey once and he was the cutest little guy ever. I am not in favor of captivity, but as a rehaber I know that sometimes that is the only quality of life that an injured animal can be afforded ... back in the wild they wouldn't survive ... so it was wonderful to see your Kangaroos roaming leisurely and free. I sincerely hope this week is going well for both you and the SP (and the SP's sister). You are in my thoughts ...
