Sunday Selections #801

Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files. Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.

The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life.  Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks), and I have accepted the mantle.

The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent.  Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Sorry I still haven't succeeded in working out how to do a blog hop. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.

I usually run with a theme. This week my theme is  pink and red.

In the garden - which in the absence of promised rain is crispifying fast.

This looks like all the other orchid/Christmas cacti - except it has hot pink stamens.

The 365 day blooming begonia

This mauve pelargonium is the exception to my pink/red theme.  It has rose scented leaves and gives off its oil if you brush against it.

And in the skies.

I know that some of these are blurry and should probably not be shared but the colour was astonishing.

We have a house guest who arrived late on Friday night so I am likely not to be at this toy after the very early morning until the late afternoon today.  My apologies.

I hope your day is wonderful.

  5. Lots of pink and red including the dawn skies. A total lift me up on a rather dismal day here.

  6. Hi EC - just enjoy your guest ... the most important time for you ... and those colours are gorgeous - better than our grey, dark and about to be cold ... but you'd enjoy that bit!! Cheers for now - Hilary

  7. River Fairchild - Oh… a houseguest… sorry and hugs.
I love both the colors in the skies and your beautiful bounty of a garden. Your photos are always a balm, no matter the focus. Thank you always for sharing a glimpse of your space with the rest of us. It’s a lot of work to do so and I appreciate it - and you.
Tell the furry overlords I’m thinking of them and I hope you have a somewhat restful and relaxing week ahead without too many appointments. Hugs always.

    1. River Fairchild: The guest has left - much to the pleasure of the overlords. The garden is a lot of work but is mostly worthwhile. Hugs. And we are finally getting some precious rain.

  11. G'day, EC....the weather has been very inclement up this way in many areas throughout this state. Touch wood, wild weather like we experienced last Christmas night isn't on repeat. The shock of it still affects us all in one way or the other, I think.

I hope you enjoyed your day spent with your visitor, EC...and the enjoyment lasts the week through. My cuddles to Batty and Odie. :)

My maggies and butcherbirds are serenading me loudly and clearly at my front door...or demanding their Sunday treats!!!!

  27. Pink and red - wonderful! Your fancy poppies are marvellous. I hope that you and your garden will get some rain. We have had some rain reently and it does make such a difference in the garden, even at the end of autumn. Everything looks fresher. I hope the new week will be a good one for you.

    1. Carola Bartz: Looks fresher, smells fresher. Years back a woman I met on the bus told me that 'you can mostly keep things alive by watering but for plants to grow they need rain'. I think she was right.
