Time Out.

For a variety of reasons my body, mind, emotions and circumstances are in cahoots against me at the moment.

I feel stretched taut and stretched thin.  I am taking a break and will be back in the fullness of time.

For those of you doing the A-Z challenge, good luck and have fun.

I have commitments associated with my voluntary work, and  hope to think, heal, read, garden (if and as the body allows) and get some long overdue tasks out the way.

I have turned comments off for this post but will be back in May (if not before).  I am largely stepping away from the computer but will check emails every couple of days (or so).

I leave you with a windswept and wet galah.  Wind we are getting.  Rain?  Not yet.

Sunday Selections #272

Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files.

The meme is now continued by River at Drifting through life.  The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent.  Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to River.  Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.

Like River I usually run with a theme.  This week?  Not so much.  Colourful snippets from the week which have given me joy.

Dawn.

Dusk.

An inquisitive cockatoo,

And the beginnings of the annual fireworks which autumnal colour brings.

Sunday Selections #271

Like River I usually run with a theme.   This week, for a variety of reasons has been difficult and confronting, so I am going down the distractions path.  Colourful distractions.

Local government has been doing quite a lot of burning off to reduce fire danger next season.  The air smells of burning eucalpytus, and the skies are smoky.  As is not uncommon I wandered outside as the sun was setting.

Looking west, it was pretty and had promise of drama to come.  When I swivelled 45 degrees everything changed...  to murky, moody magic.

And I continue to delight in the begonias.  Splashes of vibrant joy.

And a reminder that the garden is sadly neglected.

Where are the Words for Wednesday?

Words for Wednesday will continue, but has again become a moveable feast.  A big thank you to everyone who said that they are able to provide prompts.

Riot Kitty is providing this months prompts

Mark Koopmans has offered to provide them for May. He has generously given me the prompts and they will appear here on my blog.

Thanks to all the people who responded to my begging post we have quite a number of months filled now.  I have put together a schedule, but am open to changing it it the dates don't suit.

At the moment it looks like this.

June:  River will post the prompts on her blog.

July:  I will post the prompts here, with some stunning prompts provided to me by Olga Godim on the last week.

August:  Hannah Bannaface will be providing the prompts at her blog.

September:  The prompts will be here, but provided by Margaret Adamson and her friend Sue Fulton.

OctoberThe Cranky will post the prompts on her blog.

NovemberCarolyn McBride will post the prompts on her blog.

It the host for the month could identify the next host on their final post it will help keep the meme alive.

If anyone else would like to provide the prompts you would be more than welcome.  Let me know in the comments.

I hope that you will visit these generous souls and continue to support this fun meme.  International time zones also mean that the meme can be published on Tuesday or Thursday in your time - but keep checking...

Sunday Selections #270

Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files.

The meme is now continued by River at Drifting through life.  The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent.  Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to River.  Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.

Like River I usually run with a theme.   This week I am going back to the garden.  The poor neglected garden which I cannot (yet) get back into to do the work it needs.  The hip issue I complained about last week has been diagnosed as bursitis.  It is still very, very painful and limiting.  Sigh.

So we will look at the begonias (and a few other plants) on the veranda and deck and treat the rest of the garden with ignore.

The hoya is in flower again.

Lots of beautiful begonias.

This last plant's common name is the Goldfish Plant.  I think it is well named, and the common name is much easier to remember than Nematanthus glabra.

It says it needs a warm, frost free location - but it lies.  The plants have thrived on our back deck for many years now.
