Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files. Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.
The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life. Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks), and I have accepted the mantle.
The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent. Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.
I
usually run with a theme. This time of year is packed with celebrations, religious, cultural, spiritual. On a cultural basis at least (though I am less certain about its religious commitment) Australia celebrates Christmas, but it happy to share the space with other traditions/cultures.
This week I am sharing some of the decorations I have seen out and about.
Starting close to home.
I particularly like the next house's Christmas gnomes. I think they are charming and I was very pleased to see them go up again this year. Their hats are fading but they are still a delight.
The suburb in which I grew up and which we drive through when I want/need a kangaroo fix has a tradition of tying a red bow around the street trees. It is surprisingly effective and lovely.
This is outside my mother's old home - now bulldozed and McMansioned.
The roadside ducks are back - with a little Christmas bling.
And yes, I did get my roo fix.
Whatever you celebrate or don't I hope that the day, the season, the year(s) to come bring you tidings of comfort and joy. A wish I particularly hold for those who feel they have little or nothing to celebrate.
