Anyone can join in, just post your photos under the Sunday Selections title, link back to Kim, then add your name to her Linky list at Frogpondsrock.
This week my theme is (yet again) birds.
We think this is a Green Catbird, but it could also be a young Bowerbird |
Oh, nice pictures! I cannot imagine why these have languished without being seen, since they are wonderful, especially the last two! :-)
ReplyDeleteAre those sculptures in your garden? I would like to make work like that one day. Thanks for sharing your birds. I never get tired of bird photos :)
ReplyDeleteI thought the same thing as DJan when I saw your last batch of Sunday Selections photos, and now I'm wondering again how any of these could have ever ended up languishing! They're incredible!
ReplyDeleteI love the whimsical metal bird (or birds? Perhaps you just pose him differently in different locations?) And as for the non-metallic ones {grin}, they are all beautiful, as always, but I'm utterly enchanted by the blue and red ones! What are they called? They are so striking! And that white one, is THAT a Cockatiel? I'm determined to see a Cockatiel on one of your posts now. :-)
I love this idea for a photo meme. I've got lots of languishing photos, so one of these days I'll have to join the fun!
all those birds come visiting your home? You are very lucky! I miss having trees that birds can come and visit, but one day I am sure what we have planted will grow big enough for the birds to stop and say hi :)
ReplyDeleteLove the Green Catbirds, a very regal looking bird :)
These are gorgeous colourful photos. I really love your sculptures... and the real birds too.
ReplyDeleteThank you all.
ReplyDeleteI refer to the metal sculptures as the 'quirky birds' and they live on the back verandah. We are super lucky in the numbers of birds that visit - we often have at least five or six species visiting each day.
Laloofah: The red and blue ones are crimson rosellas, very pretty and surprisingly aggressive given their size. They frequently see off much bigger birds. The white one was a Sulphur Crested Cockatoo - we get lots and lots of them here. We don't unfortunately get cockatiels so you won't get a photo of them visiting us. And you should join Kim's photo meme - it is a heap of fun. There are also some truly amazing photographers out there in the blogosphere.
I like the flying fish in the last photo :-).
ReplyDeleteWhat delightful friends you have in your garden!
ReplyDeleteI love the statues!
ReplyDeleteThe real birds really love their apples don't they? Maybe I should tie a few apples on the bare branches I have here, to draw the parrots.
Windsmoke: You have good eyes. I had forgotten the fishmobile was in that shot.
ReplyDeleteladyfi: We are so lucky with our avian visitors.
River: I love the quirky birds too. Most of the birds prefer green apple which we tie to the tree using a bit of coat hanger.
Love these pics ... all are also visitors here except those gorgeous parrots eating the apple - what are they?
ReplyDeleteCorymbia: Eastern rosellas - known as budgies on steroids in this house. Is the third one a catbird do you know?
ReplyDeleteSorry to parrot everyone's comments but I also love your bird photos. I heard the Catbird up in Cairns/FNQ, its call is a giveaway. Rrrowr!
ReplyDeleteHi EC,
ReplyDeleteSome lovely bird pictures there.
:-)
Cheers

Thanks for furthering my Australian avian education yet again, E.C.! :-)
ReplyDeleteI LOL'ed at Mitzi's comment - "parrot everyone's comments." Good one! ;-)
First time here. The photos knocked my socks off. I saw you at Snow's blog and figured that any friend of his is a friend of mine.
ReplyDeleteHow fortunate to have these magnificent creatures populating your world! So beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeau's Mom: Welcome, glad you dropped by. And to know Snow is to love him I believe.
ReplyDeleteTwo Tigers: We are very, very lucky to have such beautiful regular visitors. We encourage them it is true, but it pays dividends.
Ah... more gorgeous birds! So exotic for a Californian! We tend to think of them only as expensive exotic pets in cages, which is so terribly sad. And your cats don't menace them? Our kitties would LOVE for us to put out bird feeders . . . alas.
ReplyDeleteReminds me--Dominic saw a robin high up near the top of a redwood the other day. So he decided to climb the tree. He got pretty high and precariously onto a limb, gazing up at the bird. I'm not sure if he thought it would fly down to him or what. He eventually came down. I could almost imagine the bird watching from above, snorting.
