Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files.
The meme is now continued by River at Drifting through life. The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent. Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to River.
Like River I generally run with a theme. Today it is the fishtank which lives in the corner of our lounge. It had been looking alittle very sad so has been extensively rejuvenated, just in time for the skinny portion's sister to arrive. (She, like the skinny portion himself, is very fond of tropical fish).
Tomorow is D Day. We are to be at the hospital at 6am (which horrifies the man whose preference it is to spring out of bed at the crack of noon). I have however (being a basically mean person) pointed out to him that he can sleep the rest of the day away. Hopefully he will be one of the first cabs off the rank. After which the waiting begins. I do not expect to hear anything until the middle of the afternoon at the earliest so his sister and I will come home to where we can pace in comfort. We will go back to the hospital to visit him as soon as we can, though I don't expect he will remember it. That first visit is to comfort and reassure me anyway.
Thank you so much for all your support. I cannot tell you just how much it has meant to me. I will post updates when I know anything, or of my frustration if I don't.

Wow! That's some pressure from that pump!
ReplyDeleteWe used to have fish (fresh water tropicals), including a wussy little fighting fish. Such a sook-had to be hand-fed, away from the others! Different story if he'd had another male Betta in the tank!
dinahmow: Competitions between beta (or would-be beta) males often change the character of the beast completely.
DeleteHoping all goes well. Nice tank.
ReplyDeletemybabyjohn/Delores: Thank you - on both counts.
DeleteBeautiful tank! Powerful jet. Ours is nice, but not that nice. I love all the plants.
ReplyDeleteI hope all goes as planned tomorrow and SP starts to feel a lot better. You have really been on a rollercoaster ride with all his operations! Prayers said.
Yeresa: It is a four foot tank so it needs quite a lot of aerating - and the fish seem to enjoy swimming against the bubbles. We hope the rollercoaster ride is drawing to a close now ...
DeleteI will be keeping you in my prayers. Sending a gigantic hug to you all. (Love the fish, so relaxing and peaceful:)
ReplyDeleteDeniseinVA: Thank you.
DeleteFebruary 4th is a very good day. My mother's birthday. Also Charles Lindberg's. And SP's D day. It will be fine. Lovely fish. My experience is limited to a Black Molly, which I recently learned is actually a Black Moore. I'll be thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteJoanne Noragon: With those auspices, how can his D Day be anything but auspicious. The little yellow fish you see in the tank is a balloon molly - and yes, it also comes from the Moor family.
DeleteWhat a beautiful fish tank and so clean, good luck to the skinny portion, thinking of you both.
ReplyDeleteLinda Starr: A LOT of work (mine) went into achieving that sparkling finish on the tank. Thank you for your good wishes.
DeleteWishing the very best for a positive outcome at the hospital. Not exactly one of my favourite places.
ReplyDeleteThose fish are amazing and I could of sworn I heard them talking :)
Please know that I'm sending you hopeful vibes and that your interaction and your comments on my postings, are highly treasured.
In peace and goodwill,
Gary
klahanie: Of course fish talk. And these are so clever that they ventriloquise to the television. Thanks for your good wishes. All the good wishes I have received mean a LOT.
DeleteI am also thinking of you and the SP tomorrow during your trials. Hoping and crossing fingers are said to be of use, if for nothing else it helps to give one something to do! :-)
ReplyDeleteDJan: Thank you. I am looking forward to when things calms down a little and I can read more about your inspirational life.
DeleteWill be thinking and praying for you all. The weeks of dread and anticipation are sometimes worse than the event itself, at least it is with me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update.
Susan Kane: You are right. This sort of anticipation is vile. Tomorrow, waiting for the surgery to be completed will also be bad. Hopefully, from there is it all be on the up and up.
DeleteGood luck, to him, to you, to all.
ReplyDeleteStrayer: Thank you.
DeleteA beautiful fish tank. I love watching tropical fish; so relaxing and colourful.
ReplyDeleteAll the very best for tomorrow, to you and the SP.
Alexia: Thank you.
DeleteWhat a magnificent fish palace. Do Jazz and Jewel also enjoy watching the fish?
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of you earlier today when I realised tomorrow was THE day. Please pass on my best wishes to your other half. Of course you will need to visit for your sake more than anything. I am sure the medical people will do their utmost to make sure all goes well. Positive thoughts are flying to you at this time. All the very best xx
Mimsie: I love the description 'fish palace'. Jazz likes to lie on the light warming his belly in comfort looking down through the glass at the fish. Jewel sits on the arm of the chair beside it - particularly when they are fed in the morning as she LOVES dried fish flakes. Thank you for your positive thoughts.
DeleteSending you both very good thoughts! I hope watching the fish helps while you pace.
ReplyDeleteRiot Kitty: I am sure they will. Pace watch, Pace watch...
DeleteOhmygods EC, I didn't know this was going on now. Sendimng you comfort, rapid healing energy and peace of mind. Keep us posted. xo
ReplyDeleteAustan: Thanks - I will post updates when I can.
Deletewhat a beautiful tank! i just loved having a tank in my home... of course i don't have one now in the RV because it just seems like an awkward thing what with all the rocking and rolling the RV does LOL
ReplyDeletegood thoughts and wishes for you guys.
Sherri: I am sory, I am sure I replied to you yesterday, but blogger seems to have swallowed it. I am glad you enjoyed the tank - and thanks for your good wishes.
DeleteThe waiting and dread-filled anticipation are enough to drive one around the bend, aren't they? At least now the journey begins - and hopefully to a better, healthier destination. Thinking of you, EC. Take care.
ReplyDeletejenny_o: I don't wait well. You are right, it will be a relief when tomorrow is done.
DeleteI think you're owed that much reassurance. I hope D-Day operates appropriately and that first visit is exactly what you wish it.
ReplyDeleteJohn Wiswell: Thank you. I have everything crossed...
DeleteOh I love watching fish in a tank. Good luck to all of you tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteKaren: Fish tanks are (for those who don't clean them) remarkably sooothing. Thank you for the good wishes.
DeleteThinking of both of you lots and sending you loving energy xo
ReplyDeletefarawayinthesunshine: Thank you. Loving energy gratefully received.
DeleteI am glad his sister is with you. We all need someone to pass the time with when times are difficult. I pray that everything goes well.
ReplyDeleteStarting Over, Accepting Changes - Maybe: Thank you. Fingers (and toes) crossed.
DeleteMy surgeon told me that doctors often schedule the most challenging cases first so they'll be fresh for them. As for Skinny's hatred of getting up early, I share it totally, but at least he can take comfort in the fact that he will get to spend most of the day sleeping.
ReplyDeleteSnowbrush: We also thought the early start may be for that reason. I have already reminded him that he will spend the day asleep.
DeleteThink about you. Please post when you can to let us know. xo
ReplyDeleteBirdie: I will.
DeleteYour fish tank is one of the best I have ever seen. I had freshwater tropicals waaaay back in 76, the black mollies used to swim between our fingers if we dangled our hand in the water. We had snails in there too and they reproduced so much we had dozens from the original three.
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed for everything going well tomorrow.
I'm currently unable to receive any emails.
River: All these crossed fingers have to do some good. I hope your email is better soon.
DeleteI've not had time to comment or post recently. Even now, I'm being pestered to hurry up and do "something else" by a very demanding (putting it politely) 5 yr old. But I'm still reading here and thinking often of you both.
ReplyDeleteI'll be thinking of you both tonight, as that wretched alarm clock goes off. Hoping and praying all goes as well as possible. Much love and best wishes x x
bugerlugs63: Thank you - I hope all is getting better in your world too.
DeleteWell unless you are up worrying I am probably too late to wish you well....hopefully when you read this the op will be all done and dusted and a raging success.
ReplyDeleteMy best wishes to the smaller portion for a trouble free recovery and to you for the least possible amount of trauma all around.
Hugs
kylie
kylie: Up early worrying... Thank you for your good wishes.
DeleteIt's so good to see you posting again, E.C.
ReplyDeleteWishing you strength for tomorrow.
I do hope that your pain management went well.
Frances: Thank you. I will be posting sporadically for the next little while... Pain management is still a work in progress.
Delete1. Lovely tank! How soothing.
ReplyDelete2. All my best wishes for tomorrow.
3. So nice to "see" you online.
4. Repeat of #2.
Ms. C-P
Ms CrankyPants: Thank you. This morning (we leave in half an hour or so) your comment made me smile - a good start to a scary day.
DeleteBeautiful! I'm sure Jazz and Jewel enjoy watching it...and scheming.
ReplyDeleteDue to the time difference, you're most likely in bed preparing to get up at a horrendous hour. Many hugs and good wishes are being sent your way!
Laura Eno: Jazz n Jewel do like the fish tank. Jazz in particular. I was indeed in bed when your good wishes came through - but am appreciating them this morning.
DeleteThe fishies have a lovely environment - are there any adrenaline junkies among them who love to go on hellrides in that pump's jet stream? :-) I find fish very soothing and mesmerizing to watch. Maybe they'll have the same calming effect on you while you wait for the S.P. to be out of surgery and ready for a visit. I'm hoping it's not as agonizing a wait for you as you anticipate, and wish your husband well! (And am still chuckling over "at the crack of noon" remark!) :-)
ReplyDeleteLaloofah: Thank you. Quite a few of the fish seem to like getting some exercise swimming against the jet stream. Fish are calming. Calming enough? I will see.
DeleteI will be sending good thoughts and wishes your way, my friend. I also cracked up over "crack of noon."
ReplyDeleteLynn: Sometimes it is later than the crack of noon.
DeleteDear EC, I arrived at your blog today and found three postings--reading the titles, I think they are about the operation. So I'm starting here and thinking that you were wise to go back home and do your "pacing." It's always more comfortable being surrounded by what's familiar. I'll go now and read the next two postings. Peace.
ReplyDeleteDee: Pacing at home was much, much better. Thank you for your visit.
