Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files.
The meme is now continued by River at Drifting through life. The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent. Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to River.
Like River I generally run with a theme. This week it is the camouflage cat (aka Jazz) who seriously thought that no-one could see him. I should add that the little toad also plucks flowers from the vase using his teeth and drops them either onto the fish tank or the floor. Purring loudly. It is just as well that he is a cute cat. He needs to be.

What a cheeky little thing! And soooo cute!
ReplyDeleteWendy aka Quillfeather: He is cute. He needs to be cute. He badly needs to be cute.
DeleteHow funny. I would worry about the vase getting knocked to the floor with my beastie!
ReplyDeleteCindi Summerlin: That is a fairly heavy vase, so is safe. Other vases have had to be moved. Quickly.
DeleteFunny! Cats can be so amusing. He looks good from what we can see of him anyway.
ReplyDeleteTeresa: If you scroll down to the bottom of the page there are 'full frontal' photos of him.
DeleteI love your cat pictures. And that's a beautiful Australian arrangement!
ReplyDeleteAlexia: Thank you. The arrangement was given to ME when the smaller portion was just out of hospital and being a complete toad. I really appreciated it.
DeleteWell, he's certainly hard to spot in that final shot.
ReplyDeleteI only knew one cat that didn't want to "play
with" flowers and that was Tina, who adored stocks and would sit quietly, happily sniffing.
Even the current twins still have mad moments, though most of the time they ignore them. The silk flowers out on the deck are a whole different ball game. Bald game, really...
dinahmow: I love the image of Tina sniffing stocks - and she is right they are gorgeous. Jewel mostly ignores flowers. Acorns are still her passion. She chases them up and down the house, picking them up and moving them to hard floors (like the bathroom) where they sound better. Jazz is the flower vandal - inside and outside. And a surprising number of flowers are very bad for cats.
DeleteHaha! He's a beautiful black boy your Jazz... when one can see him!
ReplyDeleteCats - who knows what goes on in their heads? Certainly not us 'mere' humans :D
They live with us, but, not really "with" us. They all have such singularly peculiar personalities don't they? And is why our relationship with them is such a dichotomy :)
I miss my black cat, Sunny. One day, a kitten will come into my life at the right time, I'm sure.
In the meantime, I love to see what Jazz and Jewel get up to.
Vicki: He is beautiful. And yes, I know what I mean about living with us. It is definitely on their own terms. Always.
DeleteWhat a cute rascal! Are his eyes really that gorgeous aquamarine colour or is it a trick of the light?
ReplyDeleteMolly: It is a trick of the light. His eyes are an intense golden colour.
DeletePerhaps Jazz has had a hidden desire since he was a kitten to be a florist. Maybe you could find him a job in florist's shop...or failing that a nursery.
ReplyDeleteAhh...I love the way the mind of a cat works. My two keep me amused and entertained daily. They know exactly what they're doing, and why...and they love to watch my reactions!
Lee: Pity the florist or the nursery. Jazz is all about destruction. And is very, very good at it.
DeleteI think it's un-American the way you Australians go around saying that it's Sunday when, as every American knows, it's still Saturday.
ReplyDeleteSnowbrush: Of course I am un-American. Are you surprised? Not only is it Sunday - it is Sunday afternoon. Do you think it is symbolic that we are ahead of you?
Delete"Do you think it is symbolic that we are ahead of you?"
DeleteOh, my god, I hadn't even thought of that. I've always been told that America is ahead of the whole world in ever yway, but if you're ahead of it time-wise, then maybe you're ahead of it in other ways too! Oh, wait; I know, you're not a day ahead, you're six days behind. Yeah, that's it. It must be. It just has to be.
Snowbrush: Sorry, nice try but a fail. It is Sunday the tenth of March. Ahead of you. And no, we are not a year behind you either. Just the same I quite understand that you have been told that America is ahead of the whole world. So are we told that - by Americans.
DeleteThat is one cheeky cat. Karen's cat Max also has a ways with flowers. He pulls them from the vase and eats them!! What would we do without our feline friends? Be much lonelier and have nothing to complain about. lol
ReplyDeleteMimsie: Despite my complaints, I couldn't imagine life without either Jazz or Jewel. It would be much less enjoyable.
Deleteninja cat
ReplyDeleteAdam: Did he tell you that?
Deleteha ha ha ... and is it not simply a total JOY to have the pleasure of his/their company.
ReplyDeleteAnn O'Dyne: Yes it is a total joy. Even when it is not. I wouldn't be without either of them.
DeleteJazz is cheeky, very cheeky. And he must also know that he is adorable, he acts like the world is definitely his oyster! Great pictures, above AND below. :-)
ReplyDeleteDJan: The world is indeed their oyster. And their prawns, and their chicken ...
DeleteJazz has the balls and the looks of my Vasil, who is just as much of a cute little nut. (My husband says he fits in perfectly in our household of people with mental illness!)
ReplyDeleteRiot Kitty: I have been known to describe Jazz as a psycho cat - and he fits in here very comfortably.
DeleteGlad you said there was a cat in there I didn't even see him. Ha.
ReplyDeleteLinda Starr: The camouflague cat would be very happy to hear that.
DeleteI was so busy admiring the tapestry that I almost missed the cat!
ReplyDeleteladyfi: So long as it was only almost. He does like to be admired - even when he is hiding.
DeleteJazz is quite well disguised up there. I love the tapestry.
ReplyDeleteRiver: The skinny portion brought the tapestry back from South America. We love it too. And, yes he does hide well.
DeleteSneaky kitty. I think most cats consider themselves invisible at will.
ReplyDeleteBirdie: And a lot of them achieve that aim as well. Clever and sneaky.
DeleteAh yes, that cute thing. That is a Darwinian survival mechanism.
ReplyDeletePaper Chipmunk (aka Ellen): Fortunately Jazz genes will die out with him. I do love him, but I don't want more of him either.
DeleteUnfortunately, I understand all too well...
DeletePaper Chipmunk (aka Ellen): I thought you might.
DeleteCute cat, cute post! The pictures are adorable.
ReplyDeleteDave King: Thank you.
DeleteEr... yes, cattie cat, I can see you! :-)
ReplyDeleteOn a serious note, didn't we all do that when we were little? Hiding under the table thinking that no one could see us? :-)
Great post and photos. Thanks.
Greetings from London.
A Cuban in London: And sometimes I would still like to hide. Rather better than Jazz.
DeleteHe is well camouflaged! I would not have noticed him if you had not said as I was focused on the flowers :) Great photos!
ReplyDeleteDEniseinVA: Perhaps I needed to post a video so you could hear the sound as he chomped down on flowers...
DeleteMy late kitty Sophie used to hide her face in a corner when she was reprimanded, as if "it I can't see you, then you can't see me." :)
ReplyDeleteLove this post.
Lynn: That is so cute. We had a cat who, if she had committed a crime (think licking the butter) would skulk around until she was gently rapped for her sins. She would then settle right down. (It didn't stop her fondness for butter though.)
DeleteHe's such a cutie! I love how he's hiding behind the flowers. Life is never dull with felines around.
ReplyDeleteJennifer: He is cute - which is lucky for him because he is also very badly behaved. Not dull, but certainly a badly behaved moggy.
DeleteThat's so cute, it took a while to see him!
ReplyDeleteKaren: He likes to hide behind flowers or plants. Practise makes perfect.
DeleteOne of our three cats is black also, and he, too, loves to eat flowers - fresh, dried, fake - he'll eat them all. It is a challenge to find a surface high enough to deter him. Our other cats do not bother the plants at all. It's interesting, and sometimes frustrating, that every cat is so different, isn't it!
ReplyDeletejenny_o: Both of our cats are black, and they are as different as chalk and cheese. Although they do teach each other things - Jazz taught Jewel how to open the fridge for example.
DeleteHmmm ... not exactly the type of information-sharing one would wish for :)
Deletejenny_o: They were pleased with themselves though. Very pleased.
DeleteAwww, that is really cute! My black cat, Squeaky, doesn't so much hide behind plants; rather, she chews on them while I'm sleeping (I've checked to be sure none are poisonous) and then regurgitates them around the house. A lovely present for me in the morning! To her great credit, though, sometimes the regurgitations blend nicely into the carpet and I discover them only after stepping in them. It's especially nice, as you might imagine, when in bare feet.
ReplyDeleteMs. CrankyPants: Camouflage puke - now that is talent. And yes, stepping into UDOs is always lovely. And it is always in bare feet.
DeleteIf only she'd learn to juggle or do a magic trick, so I could make money off her, er, talents. And I can't decide which is worse: warm or cold cat puke. A question for the ages...
DeleteJust like a mischievous child but loveable none the less :)
ReplyDeleteBe well and Happy
Pam :): Mischievious children (hopefully) grow out of it. Jazz grows into it. But yes, loveable anyway.
DeleteHah! I love Jazz's antics. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm enamored with your wall hanging too. It's beautiful!
Laura Eno: I shudder to think of the trouble Jazz could create - in tandem with Jezebel. The wallhanging came from South America - and we love it too.
DeleteHaha, I enjoyed your dramatic zoom-in on the hiding cat!
ReplyDeleteJohn Wiswell: He hides well. Too well.
DeleteAha, well the camouflaged cat aka Jazz has been duly noted by Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar! "Penny! Get away from the screen!"
ReplyDeleteGary :)
klahanie: So that was why Jazz was growling. He was defending his territory (completely unnecessarily) from Penny the internet superstar.
DeleteClever sneaky cat. Jazz goes beyond hiding under chairs with the flowers.
ReplyDeleteSusan Kane: He does that too - emerging with claws at the ready to bounce me as I go past. A cat of several talents.
DeleteHe must believe you put the flowers there for his use and enjoyment :)
ReplyDeleteLove cats. But I'm allergic. Sigh.
Carol Kilgore: He believes that everything is done for his use and enjoyment. And if it isn't, it should be.
DeleteOh, I adore your cat. Talk about a ton of personality. I really liked the pics of the birds I saw on your blog, too.
ReplyDeleteI've seen your comments popping up here and there on other blogs, and it was a real pleasure to have to stop by mine today to visit Carol. It's very nice to meet you. Count me in as your newest groupie.
Oh, and you can call me Susan. No need to write all three names.
DeleteSusan: Thank you - on all counts.
DeleteCats can be so much fun! Yours is so cute as well. I can imagine him tearing up those flowers and purring while doing that. He really must enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteCarola Bartz: He does enjoy it. He enjoys rather a lot of wickedness - just as well he is cute.
Deleteso much aliveness in your photos:):):)
ReplyDeletesunny thanks,
Jennifer
Jennifer Richardson: Thank you so much.
DeleteThese are such nice pictures!
ReplyDeletewww.modernworld4.blogspot.com
Gina Gao: Welcome - and thank you.
DeleteLike a lioness trying to get her prey --- adorable....and yet scary! Loved this!
ReplyDeleteDeb: Picking on prey which cannot escape is fairly chicken-hearted behaviour. On the other hand, he also picks on me, and I probably can escape. I am glad you enjoyed his antics.
DeleteHe thought nobody saw him ? :)))))))) Jazz is hilarious and I might fly to USA just to bite his ears.
ReplyDeleteunikorna: He does think he is invisible while he is up there. Completely. And is always surprised when I lift him down. (you would have to fly to Australia to bite his ears though)
DeleteHa! Picking the flowers like that is naughty. Dropping them into the fish tank is wicked. Purring while you do both? EVIL!!!
ReplyDeleteLaloofah: Jazz IS evil. It is part of his charm.
DeleteSo much personality!!! He is VERY lucky to have you as guardians/food providers/litter cleaners...
ReplyDeleteNicky HW: He believes that it is we who are lucky to have him in our lives.
Delete
