Sunday Selections #111

Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files.

The meme is now continued by River at Drifting through life.  The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent.  Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to River.

Like River I generally run with a theme. This week it is the camouflage cat (aka Jazz) who seriously thought that no-one could see him.  I should add that the little toad also plucks flowers from the vase using his teeth and drops them either onto the fish tank or the floor.  Purring loudly.  It is just as well that he is a cute cat.  He needs to be.

  2. How funny. I would worry about the vase getting knocked to the floor with my beastie!

    1. Cindi Summerlin: That is a fairly heavy vase, so is safe. Other vases have had to be moved. Quickly.

    1. Alexia: Thank you. The arrangement was given to ME when the smaller portion was just out of hospital and being a complete toad. I really appreciated it.

  5. Well, he's certainly hard to spot in that final shot.

I only knew one cat that didn't want to "play
with" flowers and that was Tina, who adored stocks and would sit quietly, happily sniffing.
Even the current twins still have mad moments, though most of the time they ignore them. The silk flowers out on the deck are a whole different ball game. Bald game, really...

    1. dinahmow: I love the image of Tina sniffing stocks - and she is right they are gorgeous. Jewel mostly ignores flowers. Acorns are still her passion. She chases them up and down the house, picking them up and moving them to hard floors (like the bathroom) where they sound better. Jazz is the flower vandal - inside and outside. And a surprising number of flowers are very bad for cats.

  6. Haha! He's a beautiful black boy your Jazz... when one can see him!

Cats - who knows what goes on in their heads? Certainly not us 'mere' humans :D
They live with us, but, not really "with" us. They all have such singularly peculiar personalities don't they? And is why our relationship with them is such a dichotomy :)

I miss my black cat, Sunny. One day, a kitten will come into my life at the right time, I'm sure.
In the meantime, I love to see what Jazz and Jewel get up to.

    1. Vicki: He is beautiful. And yes, I know what I mean about living with us. It is definitely on their own terms. Always.

  7. What a cute rascal! Are his eyes really that gorgeous aquamarine colour or is it a trick of the light?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Molly: It is a trick of the light. His eyes are an intense golden colour.

  8. Perhaps Jazz has had a hidden desire since he was a kitten to be a florist. Maybe you could find him a job in florist's shop...or failing that a nursery.

Ahh...I love the way the mind of a cat works. My two keep me amused and entertained daily. They know exactly what they're doing, and why...and they love to watch my reactions!

    1. Lee: Pity the florist or the nursery. Jazz is all about destruction. And is very, very good at it.

  9. I think it's un-American the way you Australians go around saying that it's Sunday when, as every American knows, it's still Saturday.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Snowbrush: Of course I am un-American. Are you surprised? Not only is it Sunday - it is Sunday afternoon. Do you think it is symbolic that we are ahead of you?

      Delete
    2. "Do you think it is symbolic that we are ahead of you?"

Oh, my god, I hadn't even thought of that. I've always been told that America is ahead of the whole world in ever yway, but if you're ahead of it time-wise, then maybe you're ahead of it in other ways too! Oh, wait; I know, you're not a day ahead, you're six days behind. Yeah, that's it. It must be. It just has to be.

      Delete
    3. Snowbrush: Sorry, nice try but a fail. It is Sunday the tenth of March. Ahead of you. And no, we are not a year behind you either. Just the same I quite understand that you have been told that America is ahead of the whole world. So are we told that - by Americans.

  10. That is one cheeky cat. Karen's cat Max also has a ways with flowers. He pulls them from the vase and eats them!! What would we do without our feline friends? Be much lonelier and have nothing to complain about. lol

    1. Mimsie: Despite my complaints, I couldn't imagine life without either Jazz or Jewel. It would be much less enjoyable.

  20. Er... yes, cattie cat, I can see you! :-)

On a serious note, didn't we all do that when we were little? Hiding under the table thinking that no one could see us? :-)

    1. Lynn: That is so cute. We had a cat who, if she had committed a crime (think licking the butter) would skulk around until she was gently rapped for her sins. She would then settle right down. (It didn't stop her fondness for butter though.)

  25. One of our three cats is black also, and he, too, loves to eat flowers - fresh, dried, fake - he'll eat them all. It is a challenge to find a surface high enough to deter him. Our other cats do not bother the plants at all. It's interesting, and sometimes frustrating, that every cat is so different, isn't it!

    ReplyDelete

    1. jenny_o: Both of our cats are black, and they are as different as chalk and cheese. Although they do teach each other things - Jazz taught Jewel how to open the fridge for example.

  26. Awww, that is really cute! My black cat, Squeaky, doesn't so much hide behind plants; rather, she chews on them while I'm sleeping (I've checked to be sure none are poisonous) and then regurgitates them around the house. A lovely present for me in the morning! To her great credit, though, sometimes the regurgitations blend nicely into the carpet and I discover them only after stepping in them. It's especially nice, as you might imagine, when in bare feet.

    1. Ms. CrankyPants: Camouflage puke - now that is talent. And yes, stepping into UDOs is always lovely. And it is always in bare feet.

    2. If only she'd learn to juggle or do a magic trick, so I could make money off her, er, talents. And I can't decide which is worse: warm or cold cat puke. A question for the ages...
