And now I have woken him up. Which gave me pleasure on lots of levels. The pavers are not here though...
Pre-Admission clinic tomorrow afternoon. 'Are we familiar with the process? Do we know where to find them?' Given that this will be his seventh abdominal surgery I hope so. I really hope so.

DeleteOkay, what is the surgery for. I am wracking my brain and cannot squeeze out this fact. I actually don't think I have known you long enough to hear of the reason.
ReplyDeletePractical Parsimony: A couple of years ago his bowel ruptured. Emergency surgery and a colostomy installed. Then the colostomy was replaced with an ileostomy. Then the ileostomy was reversed. The operation failed, and it was replaced. Then further surgery to resection the bowel. Then the ileostomy was reversed. Again. Then they discovered that he had a HUGE and growing hernia and he went back on the surgical waiting list. Finally he is scheduled to have it repaired. Fingers and toes crossed this is his last abdominal surgery.

DeleteOh, so happy for you that you are ready to go...sorry it has to happen though. This sounds like soooo, sooo much. My husband lost 18 inches of his colon and ileo sacral valve 14 years ago. These are tough surgeries...hoping for best and fastest for you and your loved one!

River: Thank you. Woo Hoo indeed. And happy dances. The pavers didn't appear until after several phone calls, worked for a couple of hours and disappeared again. Hopefully they will do better tomorrow. What they have done looks good, but the driveway is unusable at the moment.

DeleteThere's going to be SO MUCH scar tissue to cut through, the surgeon will need a chisel and a chain saw. Trust me. I know. Is this a different surgeon? I'd have lost faith if the same one did ALL of these operations. Lots of healing ahead, but let's get this show on the road! Congratulations. Waiting is the worst.
ReplyDeletelotta joy: I am not even sure a chain saw will do it. Heavy duty excavation tools... Two surgeons. One stuffed out big time and the other has been cleaning up after the first. And adding a few minor stuff ups of his own.

DeleteIt sounds like none of us have very good medical treatment these days. My friend has been awaiting a call for spouse surgery for several weeks. Finally the got the call of the day but were told it would be early the next morning before they called with the time. Waiting is sometimes the hardest part.
