This post is for Joanne, who has had (to put it mildly) a cow of a year and loves anenomies. Ours are starting to come out in profusion and I think of her each time I see their smiling faces.
Sleeping is an issue for me. Can't seem to sleep regular hours and when I do, I'm not rested when I wake. There's a lot going on right now and the lack of sleep is not helping and is worsened by the situation. Some days I am dragging my feet and the rest of me too. Yesterday was such a day. Thanks for asking EC.
They are lovely. I've been holding helpful healing thoughts for Joanne for a while now. Here's a thought. Let's get her address and every body send her a 'thinking of you' card. Could we do that?
Six of the photos haven't loaded for me, they may show after I publish my comment, it's happened before. The ones I did see are gorgeous, I love the red one. My anemones seem to have gotten lost, I saw only three this year, pale, pale purple, but the freesias are doing well and starflowers too. The bluebells are leafy, no sign of blooms yet.
River: I am glad to see from your follow up comment they have loaded. We have had a bumper year this year. Our freesias are still in bud, as are the ranunculas. The starflowers are in flower - and the cockatoos are ripping them out.
Hi EC - those are stunning photos ... these little flowers were one of my mother's favourites and whenever I could get her a bunch I did ... I call them the jewels ... absolutely lovely to see. Reminds me of Cornwall too - as these are where my first memories of these incredible flowers are from ... cheers Hilary
Such kindness to recognize a friend with things of beauty that she loves and cherishes. Kudos to you for planting such lovely flowers each year. You're the best, EC! Hugs...
Thank you for giving flowers to Joanne. I don't know what has happened in the past year, but this post has to make her feel better. You're a good person and I'm glad to know you. Happy Spring!
Truedessa: We change our seasons on the first of the month rather than the solstices (which strikes me as silly). The first month of spring is nearly gone. I hope your autumn is gentle and beautiful.
Beautiful, each and every one of them, how kind and thoughtful you are, I send my own best wishes to Joanne from over the seas and hope things get much better soon X
Your flowers are gorgeous, and whatever difficulties your friend Joanne has been having, I hope your pictures lift her heart and put a smile on her face.
Knowing little of gardening, I had to turn to my friend Merriam-Webster for this: Definition of anemone 1 :any of a large genus (Anemone) of perennial herbs of the buttercup family having lobed or divided leaves and showy flowers without petals but with conspicuous sepals — called also windflower
Granny Annie: I would argue with the Merriam-Webster oracle today. I know anenomies as plants in the family Ranunculaceae. Whatever the name, they are bright and beautiful.
Agreed. Joanne deserves these beautiful flowers and more!
ReplyDeleteMarty Damon: I wish that I could give the more she so richly deserves.
DeleteGorgeous profusion of color!
ReplyDeleteSharon Quails: I love them too.
DeleteThe glorious colours, EC. Thank you. I needed them today!
ReplyDeleteMarie Smith: I don't like the sound of that. Are you ok?

Thanks for asking EC.
DeleteMarie Smith: Thank you for replying. There is a reason so many cultures use sleep deprivation as torture. It is. I hope things settle for you. Hugs.
DeleteYou ARE a bearer of blooms to many of us!
ReplyDeleteCloudia: Thank you. So many people give me so much. I try and reciprocate.
DeleteSuch variety. They are lovely. x
ReplyDeleteBea: They are. Vivid harbingers of spring.
DeleteJust look at them. They look just like anemones! And not upside down! How I wish I had the stamina to visit the southern hemisphere. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteJoanne Noragon: I wish you had the stamina to visit here too. A lot.
DeleteVery beautiful. I take it Anenomes is a type of flower?
ReplyDeleteAlex J. Cavanaugh: They are. Spring bulbs. In theory they are perennial, but I plant them each and every year.
