This meme was started by Delores a long time ago. Computer issues led her to bow out for a while. The meme was too much fun to let go, and now Words for Wednesday is provided by a number of people and has become a movable feast.
Essentially the aim is to encourage us to write. Each week we are given a choice of prompts: which can be words, phrases, music or an image. What we do with those prompts is up to us: a short story, prose, a song, a poem, or treating them with ignore... We can use some or all of the prompts, and mixing and matching is encouraged.
Some of us put our creation in comments on the post, and others post on their own blog. I would really like it if as many people as possible joined into this fun meme, which includes cheering on the other participants. If you are posting on your own blog - let me know so that I, and other participants, can come along and applaud. And huge thanks to those of you who come back, sometimes time after time to cheer other contributors on.

The news from yesterday's specialist appointment was not good. I will be absent for a while (hopefully from next week) for surgery and treatment. I will schedule the posts for the rest of the month and they will still appear.

ReplyDeleteNo one really knows how much she resents being FERRIED to the hospital one more time. Even her FAMILY is not fully aware of how utterly DETERMINED she is to CONVEY a false sense of wellbeing, dealing with matters far less serious than is the truth. She AVOIDS burdening her blogging friends, those bound by ties of friendship, love and affection, some of them there since the FIRST days of Blogspot before copy and PASTE was a useful tool. Always one to think outside the BOX, Sue ASTONISHES everyone with her MAGNIFICENT spirit and in the process OBTAINS the heartfelt good wishes of her extended world. The FIRST priority is to take care of the business at hand. Then it’s onwards and upwards. We are all there with you, Sue, our own precious, dear friend. If you feel buffeted, fear not. It is just the waves of love from around the world bumping into you. There are more to come.

ReplyDeleteSorry, quick and dirty today. My mind is in other places.
ReplyDeleteLucy loved ferry trips. She found the water calming and serene and was determined to take every opportunity to go on them. The winter trips could be chilly but she refused to stay inside in the box like cabin and stood (well rugged up) on the deck watching the trees glide by. Yes she knew it was the ferry moving but it was such a smooth ride it conveyed the impression that the trees were gliding. Beautiful things, with their bare branches filigreed against the sky.
Sometimes she thought that she should print her myriad photos and paste them into a scrapbook.
She decided against it. First and foremost who would be interested? Her family wouldn’t. There was nothing to astonish anyone though the gentle serenity was lovely. She had also decided to declutter – which was another reason to avoid collecting/compiling, obtaining more things. In any event the magnificent images were all in her rich memory banks. Age could not weary them not the years condemn…
This is a lovely story, don't disparage it!

ReplyDeleteI’ll have to sail on the FERRY to Melbourne because I’m DETERMINED to take the FIRST BOX that has become available to CONVEY my message to the company I’m dealing with. One can’t PASTE a photo in an email of the box because you just can’t see inside it unless I pull everything out! That is so hard because the content in the box are may large items.
That to me is stupid when the company will pay my fare, meals, accommodation and transport.

ReplyDelete"The family were astonished their Papa had suggested a holiday for them … he'd been so determined to finish his latest novel, but what they didn't know … was that a place had become available on the Writing for Pleasure Ferry … and it was here that he'd previously met the magnificent, voluptuous blonde with purple highlights who ran the place.
They packed the cars to convey all the necessities for a holiday and a writing retreat … boxes and boxes of things – no doubt many superfluous … but at least they were all going on a summer holiday … well all but Papa, who was going to work, yet he happily avoided that sort of thing.
His agent had obtained from his publishers the promise of new deal if he could finish this next book.
For now … he'd enjoy his salmon paste sandwiches the family had left him, while he plotted on with his scribbling, before the possible treat ahead of time with the curvaceous blonde … he hoped his luck would be in!
