Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files.
Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.
The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life.
Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks), and I have accepted the mantle.
The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent. Post
some
photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me.
Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.
I
usually run with a theme. This week has been a tad difficult on lots of fronts (not least because Jazz is running out of lives). We are now in lockdown lite so I demanded a roo fix. And of course the weather didn't co-operate. On the first day we could we headed down to the lake. Our spring rains has meant it is much greener than usual. I am so very glad we went.
This fallen, but still thriving tree provided the perfect spot to plant a photographer's bum - so the next two photos are taken from that vantage spot.
A close-up of the golden weeds which are spangling the grass.
Beauty, solace and heart balm - which I hope that all of you have close to hand as well.
What a glorious place that you found, with Kangaroos and diving ducks are wonderful, thanks EC.
ReplyDeleteBob Bushell: We often go to that patch of the lake. It is beautiful isn't it?
DeleteSending love and well wishes for you and Jazz. It does sound like this lovely adventure was just what your heart and soul needs at this time, and it's also a treat for us as well. Precious moments through nature is the best medicine ever enjoy it all.
ReplyDelete21 Wits: The VERY best of medicine.
DeleteYou got your roos!
ReplyDeleteDetermined tree.
Alex J. Cavanaugh: It is a very rare day when we go to the lake and don't see roos. And yes, it was definitely a determined tree.
DeleteI feel bad about Jazz running out of lives. It sounds serious. I'm glad that you found a beautiful place to revive your soul in these days of lockdown lite. The roos look glad to oblige. Such a beautiful place by the lake.
ReplyDeleteTake care and I hope that you will find more balm and solace during the week.
Hugs, Julia
Julia: Many thanks. We really like that patch of the lake side and go there often. I will find balm and solace - and am heading off for some bed balm shortly.
DeleteThe sky reflections in the water are gorgeous photos. I am gong to have to up my outings game. The weather is actually cool enough now to get outside without melting!
ReplyDeleteAs usual I delight is your pictures of life around you.
So sorry to hear about Jazz.
Anne in the kitchen: I stay inside rather than melt too. I am glad that your weather is cooling enough for you to enjoy the outside world. Today Jazz is a very happy chappy.
DeleteBeauty, solace and heart balm indeed.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry Jazz isn't doing well.
Hugs
Sandra Cox: Aren't I lucky to have all three close to hand? Jazz is doing MUCH better today.
DeleteWhile my Lola is back to hiding in the dark and not eating. Another trip to the vet is in order and it has only been two weeks since the last trip.
DeleteRiver: I am so sorry. Poor Lola, and poor you.
DeleteBeauty and solitude. What a wonderful combination. The greenery, blue sky, fluffy clouds - simply gorgeous. Makes me want to take a deep breath and prepare to be mesmerized.
ReplyDeleteMy wish is for Jazz to keep making his amazing comebacks. He has many more spikes to inflict before he's done. Hugs to you, my wonderful friend.
River Fairchild: There were a few other people down by the lake - but we kept our distance. More than social distancing requires.
DeleteThe SpikeMeister is back to himself today. Long may that last - and hugs to you too.
The past week was a %&$# week for me, too, but I shan't go into details.
ReplyDeleteI hope Jazz peps up and he's feeling on top of the world again very soon. Special cuddles to him from me and special best wishes to him from my two furry best mates.
Have a good week ahead, EC...I hope it is a better one for you...and for dear Jazz. Take good care.
Lee: I am sorry that you had a difficult week. Thank you and your furry overlords for your wishes. After his vet visit and continuing treatment Jazz is better - long may it last.
DeleteStunning reflection photos. There mustn't have been a breath of wind. The standing kangaroo looks massive. Happy cat thoughts to Jazz.
ReplyDeleteAndrew: There was upper level wind and the clouds were scudding past. There was next to none at my level. That was one BIG roo, and thank you.
DeleteIt looks like absolutely the perfect place to bring balm and comfort to the heart and mind. The roos look relaxed and peaceful as ever, and your lake photos are stunning.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to you and Jazz for the coming week..
Alexia: It is almost in the heart of our city - and many, many miles away from it. I do love that spot. Thank you for your wishes. Jazz (and I) are doing better today.
DeleteAfter stormy autumn days and nights I enjoyed this excursion into the realm of calm serenety. My good thoughts are with you. The peace of the night.
ReplyDeleteSean Jeating: Thank you. We both felt better after this excursion. Much better.
DeleteIt's all beautiful, even the drifts of dandelions which will soon be puffballs and blow away. Is that first roo a baby? He looks young. I like the duck closeup, and the gorgeous skies reflected in the lake.
ReplyDeleteRiver: Those yellow drifts are Capeweed - and will not turn into puffballs. They are pretty but a nightmare. It is invasive and can cause problems for animals and people. I think the first roo was young, but cannot be sure. Driving down I mentioned to himself that I thought the reflections would be lovely. I was right.
DeleteSuch lovely outdoor scenes, E.C.
ReplyDeleteBea: Thank you. We treasure that spot.
DeleteLovely post and magnificent photos. ♥
ReplyDeleteaussie aNNie: Thank you.
DeleteLovely lovely blue skies
ReplyDeleteJohn Going Gently: With just enough clouds to add interest.
DeleteThank you for the visit to the roos, and the gorgeous clouds reflected in the waters. Just beautiful and peaceful.
ReplyDeleteDJan: I am glad that you enjoyed it with me. Very glad.
DeleteWhat à beautiful place your picture s ARE very beautiful !
ReplyDeletehttps://gattinawritercramps.blogspot.com/2021/10/sunday-selection.html
Gattina: It IS a beautiful place, whatever the time of the day or the season. I am heading over to see your selections now.
DeleteWell done you. My favourites are the clouds reflected in the water, Such a beautiful area. And of course the roos.
ReplyDeleteWisewebwoman: It was an almost perfect day for reflected glory. And we loved it.
DeleteA lovely walk, and nice roo fix. Just what was needed, i hope.
ReplyDeleteWe've got neighbors decorating for Halloween.
messymimi: Thank you. It was just what the doctor should have ordered.
DeleteThank you for sharing this lovely spot, EC. The scattered puffy cumulus clouds reflected beautifully in the water ~ just gorgeous! I can't imagine how exciting it would be for me to see wild kangaroos just hopping around. I hope I get to see Australia sometime. It is such a diverse country with magnificent landscapes. And the people are friendly and down to earth. My new endocrinologist is from Australia, and my doctor told me she has a wonderful accent. I'm looking forward to meeting her. I think she's Chinese. Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteFundy Blue: Thank you. I hope you can get to my very diverse country too. When our borders reopen. I hope your new endocrinologist is wonderful - whatever her accent.
DeleteHermosos canguros te mando un beso
ReplyDeleteJ.P.Alexander. Thank you.
DeleteI love the reflection of the clouds on the water and, as always, love the roos.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Janie Junebug: We love those things too. A lot.
DeleteLovely reflections there. What a roos, he's big and strong.
ReplyDeleteMargaret D: He is, isn't he. Muscular and powerful.
DeleteA wonderful outing for you and you finally got to see your roos, too. With Jazz on the mend, that nature outing was just what you needed. Beautiful photos, great reflections, and wonderful shots of the roos, too. That field of yellow flowers/weeds was absolutely beautiful. Thanks for taking us with you.
ReplyDeleteBe sure to give Jazz an extra hug for me. BTW, Squiggles is back to his old self again. Not sure what made him sick, but I'm glad I didn't panic (much) and waste money I didn't have.
Bleubeard and Elizabeth: I am glad that Squiggles is back to himself again. Jazz is pretty good today, but we do know that we are on borrowed time.
DeleteIsn't that patch of the lake a joy? I don't know how long I have been going there when I need a lift, but it never fails.
Talk about being at the bottom of the list. Hellooooo up there. Can anybody hear me!
ReplyDeleteMike: I hear you - and am glad to see you here.
DeleteLovely day, lovely lake, lovely pictures. And an interesting duck. Saw a video someone posted about how to save yourself from an attacking kangaroo. That's one thing I've never worried about, and I suspect you haven't either.
ReplyDeleteBill: You are right. I don't worry about attacking roos - but give them plenty of room. If a roo was to attack it wouldn't end well for the person.
DeleteWonderful photos - every one of 'em.
ReplyDeleteJohn "By Stargoose And Hanglands": Thank you. It is a wonderful place.
DeleteHi EC - so sorry about the lock-down ... challenging - I hope we don't have to ... but our human beings aren't being very sensible, hence I do what I can but no more. Wonderful views though - love the clouds reflecting ... take care stay safe and I do hope Jazz hangs on to his/her lives - with thoughts - Hilary
ReplyDeleteHilary Melton-Butcher: Thank you. We are firmly in lockdown lite now - which is all the 'freedom' I can cope with. Didn't those fluffy clouds add to the beauty of the day? Jazz and I thank you. After his last vet visit (and yet more medication) he is doing pretty well. Keep taking care of yourself.
DeleteGoing to have another try - this morning’s effort wouldn’t go through.
ReplyDeleteDucks do it for me - I love the serene look on their faces knowing full well they are paddling like crazy underneath but making it look oh so easy
Cathy: Thank you for coming back. The water birds do it for me too - for precisely that reason. They also make me wonder about people whose lives look easy...
DeleteDear EC
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely, realxing and calming place. Love the ducks and roos too.
Best wishes
Ellie
Ellie Foster: It is a wonderful place. Really wonderful - and almost always dotted with wildlife too.
DeleteIt's always good when nature's benches are right at hand. I wear the moss stains on my pants proudly!
ReplyDeleteDavid M. Gascoigne: As I do. Moss, grass and sometimes mud.
DeleteAnd those sticky things from grass that we (in Guyana) call 'sweetheart'. Always stuck on the hem of my jeans even after the washing machine.
Deleteneena maiya (guyana gyal): We have some of those too - but don't call them anything as polite as sweetheart.
DeletePlanting bums on fallen trees sounds like a perfect hobby. Looks like a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteLL Cool Joe: I can think of worse hobbies - and it IS a beautiful place.
DeleteHa. My bum would be stuck there. :-D
Deleteneena maiya (guyana gyal): No it wouldn't - the tree was the perfect spot to push off from too.
DeleteGorgeous and thanks for the Roo fix. Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeletee: I am glad you enjoyed it. You have a wonderful week too. How is Lukas?
DeleteHi EC,
ReplyDeleteSo odd seeing kangaroos in the wild.
:o)
Cheers
PM
Plastic Mancunian: My city is sometimes known as the bush capital and we often see kangaroos here. Which I love.
DeleteI love these photos. The ones of the lake with the reflected clouds are wonderful. So glad you share the beauty you see. Hope Jazz is ok.
ReplyDeleteHave a safe and healthy week.
Myrna R.: Thank you. I am a beauty addict and more than happy to share my version of it. Jazz is doing better after his latest visit to the torture chambers (aka the vet).
DeleteThese are such beautiful photos. It shows the beauty of some places on our planet. If only it could all be so peaceful and clean and lovely. I cannot imagine coming upon a kangaroo living free. Wonderful! Are they friendly? I dont know what those golden weeds are, but here we have something that looks similar, maybe the same. Counties plant them in medians, and call them groundcover. It does make for beautiful! Some people plant in their yards instead of grass. They only grow a couple of inches. Thanks for taking me along on this pleasant journey.
ReplyDeleteJ C: The golden weeds are Capeweed. They are very pretty but cause some people and some animals problems. The kangaroos are not friendly precisely but these are certainly used to people. I wouldn't corner them (they have an impressive kick) but am very glad to see them.
DeleteHope Jazz is feeling better and hanging on with all four feet. Beautiful photos especially liked the tree and the shots from it. Take care my friend and give Jazz an extra hug from me.
ReplyDeleteMason Canyon: Thank you. Jazz is currently hanging on with all of his feet - and his teeth too. I will give him a scritch from you. Stay well, stay safe.
DeleteTHANK YOU!
ReplyDeleteCharlotte (MotherOwl): It is my pleasure.
DeleteLove the photos they show how lovely nature is. love the ducks.I hope you have a great start to the new week.
ReplyDeleteRasmaSandra: Nature is the best artist isn't she?
DeleteThose roos are always ready to brighten your day, EC.
ReplyDeleteYou took some really good pictures.
Have a great week.
Caterina: Thank you. They DO brighten my day. Except when they jump in front of the car.
DeleteThe landscapes look so calming, I also love the photo of the duck.
ReplyDelete-Quinley
Quinley: I find that spot very calming. And restorative. Thank you.
DeleteWhat gorgeous landscapes, and the roos gave me a smile! I'm so sorry to hear that Jazz is struggling again. Our furry family members just don't live long enough, do they?
ReplyDeleteDiane Henders: They don't do they? And they take a piece of us with them when they leave. We are almost guaranteed roos to smile at when we visit that beautiful spot.
DeleteI loved your pictures. The ducks and the beautiful sky pictures with the water are just so pretty.
ReplyDeleteMary Kirkland: Thank you. I am so glad that so many of you also enjoy the things which please me.
DeleteWow, what beautiful photos. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteNasreen: Thank you.
DeleteI have not been out as much as the weather is getting cold and I'm a wuss. Love the roos :)
ReplyDeletemshatch: It is summer when I skulk indoors wearing my wuss hat. Fortunately it isn't here yet. We love the roos too.
DeleteWhat beautiful mirror reflections in the eighth photo. It is so lovely to see spring greens against the blue sky in your pictures.
ReplyDeleteDucks have lovely patterns in their feathers, don't they? And that is one heck of a big kangaroo at the front of the pack. No one messes with him, I bet.
I'm glad to read in the comments that Jazz is feeling better than he was. I hope he has a string of good days now. For his sake and yours.
jenny_o: Thank you sister across the seas. Jazz has had a few good days in a row. My fingers are tightly crossed for more. I am a big fan of green, of blue skies decorated by clouds, of ducks AND of roos. And you are right about that big boy.
DeleteLaurie: How lovely to see you back here. I hope you are feeling much better.
ReplyDeleteI love those pictures, what a calming place!
ReplyDeleteNatalia: Thank you. It is a calming place.
DeleteOh no, on Jazz running out of lives. I wondered how he has been. The reflections you captured are so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteStrayer: Aren't those reflections a joy? Jazz is happy again after his latest vet trip. We are taking it as it comes, and will not say goodbye until he is no longer comfortable.
DeleteThat was a certainly beautiful post and your images brought solace to me. :-)
ReplyDeleteGreetings from London.
A Cuban in London: I am sorry that you need solace and very glad that my images could give it to you.
DeleteWhat a glorious place that you found, with Kangaroos and diving ducks are wonderful, thanks EC.
ReplyDeleteAzka Kamil: It is a wonderful, wonderful place and I am very pleased that other people like it as much as I do.
DeleteYou have the most interesting animals and scenery in the world. I am so sorry that I cannot visit Australia for various reasons. Such a magnificent country! Lucky you to live there.
ReplyDeletegigi-hawaii: Thank you. A member of my extended family has recently bought a home in Hawaii. Perhaps some time I will get to visit your beautiful corner of the world.
DeleteLaurie: I missed you too. And thank you for letting me know about your new blog. I am about to try and track it down. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteAre those kangaroos chubbier than the average? They look less lean than I'm used to. As a heavyset man, I find them profoundly charming.
ReplyDeleteJohn Wiswell: You have a good eye. We have had a mild(ish) winter and a very wet spring. There is much more feed about for the roos - and they are taking advantage of it. And yes, they are charming.
DeleteSo many beautiful pictures.
ReplyDeleteHena Tayeb: Thank you - it would be hard not to take beautiful photos there.
DeleteLove seeing the spring when we are headed toward winter here. The roos are so cool. Amazing pictures.
ReplyDeleteJuli: You are in my 'other' favourite season. Thank you.
DeleteWhat a beautiful spot to sit and watch the reflection of clouds in the water, and take some stunning photographs to make us smile. Those roos are priceless. It was #worldkangarooday on Sunday, which you probably already knew!
ReplyDeleteKim: I didn't know that - and obviously lucked it in. It is a lovely place whatever the time of the day or the season. I am so lucky that it is close to home.
DeleteGorgeous cloud reflections - each one heart balm. The roo fix also. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteHave a blissful week.
Nilanjana Bose: Heart balm for me too - and thank you. I hope your week is wonderful too.
DeleteEvery.
ReplyDeleteSingle.
Time.
I come to this blog, I feel my spirits start to go lift. Thank you, Child, thank you. <3
Whenever I see a roo, my mouth starts to do this roo-mouth-chewing thing haha. :-D
I can't wait to show mum these photies. xx
neena maiya (guyana gyal): What a truly lovely thing to say. Thank you. Those roos were so 'laxed that they weren't even chewing.
DeleteSounds like Jazz is not doing very well, so sorry to hear that. A Roo fix sounds wonderful and just what is needed for a bit of an uplift. Getting out and about always works wonders, and so glad you can do that now. I love those dear kangaroos. They gave me the biggest smile. The little duck is cute and the scenery beautiful! Everything looks lush and green and gorgeous skies and clouds! I enjoy resting on my benches and taking in the surroundings. A fallen tree would definitely suit me. Beauty, solace and heart balm indeed, for us out here too. Thank you so much for bringing those soothing qualities in your Sunday Selections.
ReplyDeleteDeniseinVA: Jazz is not doing wonderfully - but most of the time he doesn't realise he is not well. Which is as it should be. We often go down to the lake but for some reason rarely just sit. We should.
DeleteYes as it should be not to notice he is not well, bless him.
DeleteDeniseinVA: Just as it should be. And long may it last.
DeleteWell I see you got your "fix" Sue and you picked a beautiful sunny day to go down to the lake. The scenery and reflections are fabulous
ReplyDeleteMargaret Birding For Pleasure: Thank you. I did get my fix and was all the better for it.
DeleteAwww, elderly pets are heartbreaking. Poor Jazz and probably more poor you because you are aware of what is to come.
ReplyDeleteThe photos taken from the tree seat are just beautiful, I could look at that all day.
I hope the rest of the week is good
kylie: It is heartbreaking. Fortunately most of the time Jazz doesn't know he is sick. He has two chronic conditions now - which can be managed but not cured. At the moment we are only just managing them. That tree seat was an excellent find wasn't it?
DeleteWhat a beautiful places you found and shared with us Dear E.C,! Here We only see the Kangaroo in the Zoo. Wild life is very colorful there. Have a great day.
ReplyDeletebread&salt: It is a very beautiful place, and I am glad it is so close to home.
DeleteI am sorry to read that Jazz is running out of lives.
ReplyDeleteOh your photographs are so lovely, especially those beautiful reflections. Always wonderful to see the Roos :)
Enjoy these last few October days.
All the best Jan
Lowcarb team member ~Jan: Thank you. Jazz is (fingers crossed) coming good again. Long may it last.
DeleteSuch peaceful scenery, and I thank you! So sorry to hear about Jazz. Sending lots of healing hugs, RO
ReplyDeleteRO: It is an incredibly peaceful and beautiful spot. We go there often and are never disappointed. Thank you - hugs gladly received and reciprocated.
Deletepretty duck and who doesn't love roos
ReplyDeleteSue in Italia/In the Land of Cancer: Thank you. I love both the ducks and the roos.
DeleteBeautiful and peaceful!! and those roos.... just love them!
ReplyDeletekaren: It is ALWAYS beautiful and peaceful there - and we love the roos too.
DeleteI want a roo-fix, too, please. So much of your lake reminds me of my lake, fallen and still thriving tree and all. I'm so sorry to hear about Jazz and hope he will be better.
ReplyDeleteCarola Bartz: I really, really like having the ability to get a roo fix so close to home. And love that patch of our lake. Jazz has not one but two chronic medical conditions now. Neither can be cured, but they can for the moment be managed.
Delete
