A chaos of Cats

The smaller portion's recuperation continues to be slow and ugly.  So I am refusing to think about it, and will post photos of things which make me smile - in this instance cats.

This first image was sent to me today.  And is Jazz to the life.

And then an assortment of photos of Jazz n Jewel who despite their protestations live a pleasant and indulged life.  They usually go outside for half an hour or so in the morning and the rest of the time rule the household with iron paws.

Indulgence over - for the moment.

In the last week or so, earlier posts about Antarctica have been attracting a lot of interest.  Would people be interested in a revisit, or have you had enough of my obsessions for the moment?

Sunday Selections #132

Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files.

The meme is now continued by River at Drifting through life.  The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent.  Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to River.

Like River, I generally run with a theme.  Officially we are still in winter here.  The garden doesn't seem to realise it, and this post could easily be sub-titled 'Blood, Sweat and Tears:  The rewards'.

Each and every day more things burst into bloom.  There is still a lot to come*, but the air is perfumed, and colour is starting to dance again.

The skinny one is still doing it tough.  He has one almost bearable day, and then three or four vile ones.  Please keep those good wishes travelling through the ether - for him and for me.  He cannot get outside yet, so I am bringing things in for him to enjoy inside.  More each day.

*Still to come in the garden:  More jonquils, many, many more daffodils, fox gloves, delphiniums, freesias, sparaxis, blossoming trees, dutch, bearded and japanese iris, ranunculas, wattle, anemones, tulips, more hyacinths, grape hyacinths, spring star flowers, allium, poppies, columbines  ....

Like River, I generally run with a theme.   Things continue to be a bit fraught around here.  The smaller portion tends to have an ok(ish) day, followed by two or three shockers.   I am getting better - but slower than I like.

Just the same, each and every day things of beauty leap out at me.

In the sky...

In the air...

In the garden ...

And thank you all so much for your support after my last post.  It meant (and means) a lot to me.

Its all gone a bit pear-shaped

I will be bowing out for a bit (again).

We are on our own again - which has some very big pluses.

However, the smaller portion's recovery is very far from smooth, in uncomfortable and unpleasant ways.
Clicking on this poor wet galah to embiggen him will reveal just what misery looks like

Courtesy of his sister I have a chest infection which is not (yet) responding to antibiotics.  Joy and bliss.

Recalcitrant bodies and minds are ruling at the moment.

I will be back when I can.

Sunday Selections #130

Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files.

Like River, I generally run with a theme.  At the moment early morning is the only time I get to myself.  And how lucky I was to see this dawn on the first morning after the smaller portion came home - brighter and more vibrant that many of our sunsets.  And much, much nicer than the domestic duties I had earmarked the time for.  Trotting out with the camera was much more rewarding.  And a whole heap more fun too.

It is raining.

Literally and metaphorically.

The smaller portion is coming home today.  The hospital argued for yesterday, less than twenty four hours after they had allowed him food but (reluctantly) they agreed to let him stay for another day.  Big of them.

Where he is concerned, cautious optimism is the order of the day.  We are not out of the woods, but things are looking much, much better.

The literal rain is gentle and more than welcome.  The garden is drinking deep and daily more bulbs emerge.

The metaphorical rain?  His sister is unwell.  Running a temperature.  And difficult with it.  Sigh.  So I will have two invalids, neither of them well behaved, who need to be kept apart.  I really, really don't want him to catch whatever she has acquired.  And she refuses to see a doctor.  Or take any medication.

On the positive side, Jazz will be very, very happy.  Only the smaller portion is nice to him (or so psycho cat insists).  I have been punished daily with tooth and claw for being the wrong person.  Hopefully I will now bleed a little less.  Literally and metaphorically.

Like River, I generally run with a theme.  This week I am more than a little brain-dead so instead of a theme I am just putting up some of the bright spots of the last week or so.

The first ones were taken on the same day we saw the kangaroos from last week's Sunday Selections.  The cockatoos were having a fine time, feasting on fallen acorns.

Then dawn last Tuesday.

The next photos are of a sunset which brightened our world when we got home from the hospital on Wednesday.
