The Smaller Portion thought he would like an outing yesterday. He suggested the lake so we could show his sister the swans and hopefully the kangaroos.
The lake had its usual calming effect on me. There is something about water .... We wandered down to the water's edge but could see no swans.
Just the same it was calm and beautiful so we sat on some low benches and fed the everpresent magpies.
Then we wandered back to the car and drove slowly up the road looking for kangaroos. Who were lounging in the shade about a hundred yards up the road.
The Smaller Portion's sister and I got out of the car to take photos. He was too tired and feeling a bit weak and remained in the car.
When we got home the Smaller Portion told me that he thought that part of the reason he was feeling so tired was that he wasn't eating enough. Well yes, I wasn't going to argue.
Now to the good news. I cooked some chicken breasts in foil with a little white wine and lemon pepper. I baked potatoes at the same time.
He ate a small piece of chicken and a smaller piece of potato and told me that the remainder would be nice cold (neither his sister nor I eat meat). Good.
I retired to bed fairly early because I am tired to the bone. As I headed off he was helping himself to a small bowl of chocolate icecream. Behind the bedroom door I did some fist pumping and wobbly dancing. If he regains the eating habit I will be very happy.
And today I plan on going back into the garden and weeding my heart out to make room for all those bulbs.

Sounds like a Neil Armstrong step. Good.
ReplyDeletedinahmow: So long as he keeps it up it is indeed a Neil Armstrong step.
DeleteThis is good news indeed. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteJoanne: Thank you - and a good weekend to you and yours as well.
DeleteYay!! I'm so glad he is starting to eat. You must be so relieved.
ReplyDeletemybabyjohn/Delores: Relieved and strangely angry as well. Angry that he wouldn't do it before I suppose.
DeleteHallelujah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteAustan: And so say all of us.
DeleteI love kangas! So glad that SP is eating.
ReplyDeleteKaren: Thank you. We often go to that spot largely because of the kangaroobies.
DeleteRoos! How cool
ReplyDeleteAloha from Honolulu
Comfort Spiral

Cloudia: They are aren't they?
DeleteThat is good news.
ReplyDeleteStarting Over...: He has just eaten most of a tiny bowl of cereal too. Which is more than I dared hope for.
DeleteHow sweet! He's getting better, I hope along with you. I am fist bumping behind the computer screen, don't let him see! :-)
ReplyDeleteDJan: I have just done another wobbly little dance. Cereal for lunch. Tiny bowl, but a good start.
DeleteThe last line made me smile! There's light at the end of the tunnel, my friend.
ReplyDeleteLynn: Gardening is good. Hard work, but rewarding. I always knew that there was light at the end of the tunnel, but it did seem to be a tunnel of Olympic proportions.
DeleteWhy are most men bloody sooks??? they crave attention and maid service. He's the one who needs to eat, not you. I'm hoping your visitor is a BIG help to you as you need to keep well. xo
ReplyDeleteLydia La La: Thank you. I am doing surpringly well. I assume that when the adrenalin runs out I will crash, but I am holding it together much, much better than I thought.
Deleteit is great that the news is getting better. For both of you. Seeing kangaroos is a very cheering experience, in my view.
ReplyDeletepersiflage: Kangaroos are always a delight. And they relax better than any other animal I know - except perhaps a cat.
DeleteThat is wonderful news! Hopefully now that he knows that he can eat he will be less frightened. YEAH!!! Him wanting to go out is also a good sign. Kangaroos how cool is that!
ReplyDeleteTeresa: Thank you. It is indeed wonderful news and he has had a very little bowl of cereal today.
DeleteAlways love the roo pics! And the birds too, of course. As for the food consumption... at last! May it continue.
ReplyDeletePaper Chipmunk: The roos are always a joy. Small (tiny) amounts of food have been consumed today as well. I live in hope.
DeleteHooray for eating!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the kangaroo photos.
River: Eating is good. I am really pleased that you loved the kangas.
DeleteI'd be very intimidated by them in person, but those kangaroos are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteAnd the fist-pumping was deserved! Wobbly dance away. You deserve the relief.
John Wiswell: Kangaroos are on the whole very gentle creatures and these were at least half asleep. Fist pumping a little premature. Dinner this evening a total failure. Hiss and Spit.
DeleteWow, this just strikes me as so exotic!
ReplyDeleteDave King: We are so lucky having the kangaroos such a short drive away, living free as they are meant to be.
DeleteSo so pleased for you. Maybe the fresh air helped with his appetite. Whatever it was it's great news. Have a lovey day in the garden.
ReplyDeletebugerlugs63: I did indeed have a nice and productive day in the garden. Which is just as well because it is one step forward and two back at the moment. Sigh.
DeleteSo glad to hear of at least some signs of improvement! I guess ups and downs are to be expected but hopefully the overall trend will be for the better from now on. Wishing you the best...
ReplyDeleteRon: Thank you. Fingers and toes crossed that the trend will be upward.
DeleteYour update on LP sounds hopeful. His strength should improve with food intake.
ReplyDeleteBe sure to take good care of yourself also.
I enjoyed seeing the kangaroos on your journey to the lake.
be well and happy,
:)
Pam: Thank you. I am glad that you enjoyed the kangaroos. We also love them, no matter how often we see them.
DeleteGlad to hear that the smaller portion has begun to eat better and that the lake had a calming effect on you.
ReplyDeleteMia: Thank you.
DeleteI can see you fist pumping behind a door!
ReplyDeleteStrayer: Don't forget the wobbly little dance.
DeleteVery glad to read this! Baby steps -- that's how it starts!
ReplyDeleteAnd 'roos?!?!?!? Oh, i need to see them. Just lounging! How wonderful!
daisyfae: Baby steps (and not very many at the moment). Its a start. Kangaroos lounge around well.
DeleteGoing to look for kangaroos... Really? REALLY?????
ReplyDeleteMy gawd. We go to look for deer sometimes. Boring, old ordinary deer. I can't even imagine going to look for kangaroos!
And YAY for the Smaller Portion! Hopefully soon he'll be eating Big Portions!
Cathy Oliffe-Webster: Going to look for deer sounds exotic to me. We love our roos and quite often take the short drive (less than 1/2 an hour) to see them. Smaller Portion not very well today. Fingers crossed.
DeleteAs you said, it can be one step forward and two back, especially the first while. Knowing that can make it a TINY bit easier not to worry. Continued good wishes for you all.
ReplyDeletejenny_o: Thank you.
DeleteWe've been on the road in the last few days and have just logged in... We are pleased to see that SP is beginning to emerge from that place into something which resembles feeling human again. Hopefully it will last. We can understand your desire to 'kill, maim, murder' in the getting of there. It's surprising that the dietician did not prescribe gruel.
ReplyDeleteThe kanga photographs are lovely, obviously well fed. The flock that visits our place are much browner than these. In between feeding peacefully and posing for photographs, they have wrecked a few of our baby fruit trees.Apart from that looking at them just being kangaroos is wonderful.
Christine: He has had a bad, and for me and his sister, worrying day. He has eaten far too little since he was admitted to hospital and since he came home almost nothing. And lost most of that almost nothing. I made him a bland and boring pasta dish tonight which so far has stayed with him. Fingers crossed. I am so tired of the attractive grey shade he develops when unwell.
DeleteOh dear..we wait and see...
DeleteHugs. And prayers. Peace...
ReplyDeleteLinda; Thank you.
DeleteSmall Steps are Steps!
ReplyDeleteYippy!
So glad he is getting better.
& I looooove your sweet kangarooooos.
Xxx Many Kisses from Minnesota.
My Inner Chick: And today he took a slightly bigger step and ate a little more.
DeleteAnd the kangaroos are a delight.
Thank you.
I'm glad he's eating, for both of you. Lovely pics again, your Magpie's are very different to ours it seems. I've always liked them, but they aren't very popular round these parts.
ReplyDeleteAll Consuming: He is still eating (but not much/enough). I am fascinated that your magpies are different to ours and both of them are different to the ones in the US of A. And I am very fond of ours - they have a lovely warble.
