As usual I am running with a theme. We went down to the lake yesterday to look for the swans we had been unable to find on our last visit. And got lucky. We found crows, and kangaroos and swans. It was late in the afternoon when we found the swans and I had to take a few photos looking into the sun. And got lucky again. I really like the molten gold effect of the sun on the water.
Needless to say, I took many, many other photos as well but they can wait.
They are so beautiful, and I agree with the lovely color of the water. I look forward to more of these photos! :-)
ReplyDeleteDJan: I also have photos of them snapping bread from the hands of my partner and his sister. I had too much sense this time and was the photographer instead.
DeleteGorgeous EC! I love the rippling water and subtle reflections. Black swans are just so elegant!
ReplyDeleteKaren: One of the other photos has reflections which deform those elegant necks, and turn it back on itself. I will put it up sometime but I agree they are elegant birds.
DeleteBeautiful! And it does look like molten gold!
ReplyDeleteCindi: Thank you.
DeleteOoh!
ReplyDeleteChally: Welcome. They are a treat we never tire of.
DeleteBlack swans..wow.
ReplyDeletemybabyjohn/Delores: We find white swans incredibly exotic. What you get used to I suppose.
DeleteI see what you mean about the molten gold effect it seems to add another whole dimension to the water :-).
ReplyDeleteWindsmoke: I would like to claim credit, but it is a happy accident. As I squinted against the sun I was just hoping that the shots would turn out.
DeleteBlackwell swanning about!

Cloudia: They knew just how gorgeous they are.
DeleteThey are beautiful, I have never seen a "wild" one....
ReplyDeleteThanks heaps for the heads up on my post..all fixed - must have been the pressure of trying to get the linking all right!! Good lesson learned!! :) Cheers Melissa
One Too Many: They are pushy beasts. Think that they are entitled to any food you may be carrying. And can move astonishly fast. Lovely birds though.
DeleteThey look as if the background is painted! Fabulous catch!
ReplyDeleteAustan: Pure luck, but I did really like the effect.
DeleteBeautiful black swans on a river of gold.
ReplyDeleteRiver: Thank you.
DeleteI enjoyed these, (I always enjoy your photos) I have been meaning to go and photograph the swans here to send to my friend in Belgium. Thanks for the reminder :)
ReplyDeleteKim: Feel free to steal these for your friend in Belgium if you like.
DeleteI've never seen a black swan. Gorgeous! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteJenn June: Our swans are black. The white ones look so exotic - and we only see them in zoos, documentaries and childrens' fairy tales.
DeleteThey are such gorgeous creatures, and always photograph well. Look forward to seeing the rest of them :)
ReplyDeletepermanently amanda: You may be sorry for that comment. I did take a lot of photos of the posers.
DeleteSuperb. These would grace any collection of images anywhere.
ReplyDeleteDave King: Thank you.
DeleteIt does look like swirly liquid gold. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteLynn: I am glad that others can see the liquid gold. Thanks.
DeleteBeautiful swans! I hope your day at the lake was therapeutic for you both.
ReplyDeleteRon Dudley: The lake is always a joy. I love all of the birds we see there and the kangaroos are a bonus too.
DeleteAustan is right ... The backgrounds do look painted. In fact if I saw a painting of water like the top one I would think the artist had exaggerated those colours ... But it's real. Amazing. I'm glad you went to the lake.
ReplyDeletebugerlugs63: I am glad we went down to the lake as well. There is something magical about water.... It is a very soothing place.
Delete~~Finally,
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to make a doggone comment!
I love the swans. That red beak is Magical. XXx
Hoping you are well....
myinnerchick: Was blogger being mean to you? I am glad that you perseveered and that you like our swans. Thank you.
DeleteThere is an actual "castle" house down the road from mine with a real moat and it has swans swimming in it. I love them!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics!
Crack You Whip: Welcome. I would love to see a castle with a moat. And swans. Wow. I will head over and visit you in a moment.
DeleteBlack swans!
ReplyDeleteWe have white ones here in Minnesota, but have never seen a black one!
Pearl
Pearl: The black swans are our natives and seem to thrive on all our waterways. White ones are limited to the zoo.
DeleteThese are beautiful...Black Swans!
ReplyDeleteKim @ Stuff: Thank you.
DeleteMolten gold and blue satin--lovely photos. Swans are fascinating, elegant creatures.
ReplyDeleteSusan Kane: Swans are truly elegant on the water, and demanding waddling honkers on land.
DeleteMy favorite part of these photos isn't the bird but the way the light is reflecting off the water.
ReplyDeleteSnowbrush: I loved the reflected light as well, which is why I chose to put up these photos. I love the swans too, so I won on both counts.
DeleteJust gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteladyfi: Thank you.
DeleteThese are so lovely--a nice breath of calm at the end of the day.
ReplyDeletePaper Chipmunk (aka Ellen): I love their serenity. And their grace. And would like some of each. In big helpings.
