Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files. Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.
The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life.
Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks),
and I have accepted the mantle.
The
rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent. Post some photos
under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Sorry I still
haven't succeeded in working out how to do a blog hop. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.
I
usually run with a theme. Many of you know that I really like winter not least because some years I get the chance to freeze bubbles. We had some chilly mornings this week just gone (hovering between -4 and -5C or 23-25 F). So after I had fed the cats and dealt with their kitty litter I headed out. Not quite cold enough. Some of the bubbles lasted ten minutes or more and left a shell behind them when they popped but they didn't completely freeze. Here are some of my attempts.
All was not lost though. One of the dawns where I was outside was spectacular - including colour reflected onto the frosty ground.
Where we the other household residents while I was playing in the frost?
In other news it looks as if fairly major surgery is part of my near future and cancer has not been ruled out. Cross your fingers for me please. Next appointment with a new specialist who should be able to give me answers on the first of next month.
I hope you find beauty in your week.
Here it is Summer Solstice here and Winter Solstice for you - over by now. I love those bubbles. And dawns. Always a joy coming here and all those who love you Sue, are holding you in our hearts.

Wisewebwoman: Thank you. I love the bubbles - and have been out playing again this morning. Your support means a great deal to me.
DeleteYay! It's bubble time. I especially love the bubble with the red leaves in the background.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the dawn pics. Again especially the red leaves on the ground.
Snort at the kitty pic:) So cute.
Take special care, dear friend.

Sandra Cox: My father often said that if you wanted to know the most comfortable place in the house follow the animals and see where they settle. He had a point.
DeleteAnd thank you.
thecontemplativecat here. Our S California weather does not get cold enough for those bubbles. I will send this on to my gr-sons in Switzerland.
ReplyDeleteSusan Kane: I imagine that your grandsons would have no difficulties finding a day cold enough to freeze bubbles. I hope they will do it.
DeleteLaura Eno - Holding you close in my thoughts and heart, and sending positive vibes your way.
ReplyDeleteYour bubbles are a thing of beauty! You can’t catch me outdoors in those temps so I live vicariously through you. The skies are glorious colors as well.
I’m with the blanket- buried cats. Very cozy looking. And, of course, warm!
Laura Eno: It was a tad cooler this morning so I have been playing again. And yes, the cats are definitely warm and comfortable. Positive vibes are more than welcome
DeleteOh EC - sorry to hear that news, perhaps it's a good thing - that it's being dealt with. Thinking of you in that respect ... always. Those skies are delightful - but the bubbles are amazing and so good to see. Don't blame the other residents though for remaining inside all cozied up. Cheers and hugs from up here, or round here! With thoughts - Hilary
ReplyDeleteHilary Melton-Butcher: Definitely a good thing to be dealt with, sooner rather than later. I do enjoy bubbles and early morning light. I hope your medical issues can be sorted too.
DeleteI do love the frozen bubbles you do! It's hot, hot, hot here. About 100 degrees. In celcius that's...hot too.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear about the surgery! Praying it is the most boring surgery they ever do and they find that all is well.
Sandi: I would much rather have our temperatures than yours. Your wish for a boring surgery is brilliant. One of my brothers was described as an 'interesting case' by his team of doctors. Not a good thing.
DeleteThe dawn light is breathtaking too. I’m so sorry to hear about your health concerns.
ReplyDeleteSending love, strength, and every good wish for your upcoming appointment. Fingers crossed for answers and healing.
Your bubble photos are magical, even if the freeze didn’t fully cooperate such delicate beauty
Asep Haryono: Thank you. On all counts. I do love bubbles.
DeleteThe feet are funny!
ReplyDeleteCome this Tuesday, we will be over seventy degrees warmer than you. Yuck.
Alex J. Cavanaugh: The rest of the cat was snuggled under the bed clothes. Stay as cool as you can. I would hate to be 70 degrees warmer.
DeleteAh, those bubbles!
ReplyDeleteOnce when I wasn't feeling well, a friend made me laugh with this Irish blessing: 'Sean, may the devil not catch you before I shoot you.'
On this note, dear Sue: My good thoughts are with you. This agnostic will lit a candle for you in the cathedral of his heart.
Sean Jeating: This fellow agnostic welcomes your candle. Love that blessing. And bubbles.
DeleteYour resilience and creative spirit shine through every word. Thank you for sharing your frozen beauty and quiet courage; fingers firmly crossed for good news and gentler days ahead
ReplyDeleteroentare: Thank you for your comprehensive good wishes. So much. I do love winter and the frost this morning was hard and sharp.
DeleteEven if they didn't totally freeze, the bubbles were quite pretty and the dawn colors amazing.
ReplyDeleteYou are very much in my heart and prayers.
The bubbles are pretty as is the frost on the leaves, but I am glad I don't get frost here. The reflected colour is really beautiful. I have my fingers crossed mentally, because crossing them for real means I can't type...hoping very hard that you will be okay.
ReplyDeleteI love your bubbles and this winter, I'll try to do it again too. Oh no on surgery and the possibility of the big C. That's so scary, even the word. Crossing fingers toes and anything else for you.
ReplyDeleteI'm sending positive thoughts and the hope that things will be fine. Love your bubbles. Hate the fact that anything would take away the smiles you bring out in everyone.
ReplyDeleteOh EC, good luck when you go to the Dr. Thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteThose bubbles are good and a always each year a joy to see.
Well done.
I have bubble kits saved for the kids next winter. You inspire me and I know they’d love it! Have a great week, EC.
ReplyDeleteSón genials aquestes bombolles, tot i que jo em quedo amb els gats. ;-)
ReplyDeleteNo perdis l'esperança, ni l'ànim, tampoc els somriures estimada Sue; nosaltres et portarem al cor i als bons pensaments.
Aferradetes fortes!!
I find your annual bubble-blowing adventures absolutely charming, Sue, and I look forward to them every year. I hope the conditions will soon be perfect for perfect winter bubbles!
ReplyDeleteThank you for these lovely bubbles and dawn light. I am pretty devastated by what my country did last night and am coping as best I can.
ReplyDeleteDear EC
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy seeing the frozen bubbles and the beautiful skies. Although the cats have a good idea of keeping cosy too. So sorry to hear about the major surgery. Everything is crossed for you and virtual hugs are sent your way too.
Hope you get more frosty weather and bubble blowing antics this week!
Best wishes
Ellie
Those frosty bubbles are always something I look forward to. Your skies are gorgeous and the coziness of your last photo makes me want to do the same thing, pull the blanket over my head :) sending love, support and healing wishes for your upcoming surgery.
ReplyDeleteWe'll be anxiously awaiting your post surgery post.
ReplyDeleteI always look forward to your frozen bubbles. THey happen when temps are at their hottest here and they have a tiny cooling effect (well as cool as a "feels like" temp of a muggy 105 can feel)
ReplyDeleteSending every good thought about your upcoming surgical issues.
Ahora que la temperatura llega a los 41º se echa de menos la frescura del invierno.
ReplyDeleteQue tengas una feliz semana.
I had never heard of frost bubbles until you featured them a couple of years ago. Now I look forward to them. This was still a success as far as I'm concerned.
ReplyDeleteI'm sending love, hope, and lots of prayers for your upcoming surgery. Let's think positive, please.
Those frozen bubbles are so pretty! They look magical!! Thanks for hosting the challenge!
ReplyDeleteHooray for your bubbles! Even if they weren't completely frozen, they were still lovely.
ReplyDeleteI will cross fingers, toes, and even eyes, hoping for a good outcome for you! Sending healthy thoughts and best wishes your way.
I hope you get better news with the specialist. The bubbles are so cool. Loved the pictures.
