Sunday Selections #639

Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files.

Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.

The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life.  Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks), and I have accepted the mantle.

The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent.  Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.

I usually run with a theme. Winter is still here, but the garden is showing signs that regardless of our calendars spring is not far away. Health issues have meant that the garden has been neglected and it has got away from me, but these emerging blooms have spurred me on to do a bit.  And a lot of work is needed.

One of our camellias is coming out and the others are heavy with bud.  If the birds leave those buds alone we will have a beautiful display later.

This tuberous begonia flowers all year round. Which is wonderful.

Tulips are emerging.

These and other Dutch iris are several feet tall and probably should have been divided.  Next year.  Hopefully they will bloom this year anyway.

The white violets in the front garden are blooming, but in the back yard the purple ones have beaten them to the punch.

One at least of our orchids has come into bud too.  Yay.

In other news Batty is rapidly becoming the six million dollar cat.  He had two visits to the vet last week with a persistent (but intermittent) cough and wheeze. Hopefully his treatment will work this time.  If not he will be going back to the specialist.  Poor, poor Batty (though we seem to be more worried than he is). I also have some scary symptoms which hopefully I will get a diagnosis/treatment plan for in the coming weeks.

I hope you find beauty and brightness in your week.

I usually run with a theme. This week I am returning to my fondness for public (and semi public) art.

My city has often been described as 'a good sheep station, ruined'.  There are a number of statues of sheep about.  This small flock lives at a suburban shopping centre. They are loved by their local community and decorated for Christmas.

I was at that shopping centre to see one of my doctors.  Which is where the semi public art comes in.  One wall of the reception area is devoted to a feature wallpaper.

I find it fascinating and (with permission) have taken some detailed shots to show you why.

Isn't it a lovely addition to what is often a very boring space?

I hope you find things to intrigue you this week too.

I usually run with a theme. This week I am returning to yet another of my obsessions.  Most of you know I am an early riser.  I see most dawns all year round. And delight in them.  Our dawns are often soft and gentle but in the last week or so we have had some vivid starts to the day.  Himself enjoys my photos when he gets up, but not enough to even contemplate getting up to share the beauty. His loss.

I loved seeing the start of a jet trail in this last photo.

I hope your week is packed with beauty and delight too.

I usually run with a theme. Neither of us are minimalists.  We are also a tad on the obsessional side.  As a consequence our home is crowded.  Most of you are well aware that I love birds.  There are a LOT of birds inside our house too.  Here are some of them.

And yes, there are a lot of decorative cats in our home too. And fish. And books. And rather a lot of other things.

I hope your obsessionspassions give you joy this week.
