Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files.
Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.
The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life. Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks), and I have accepted the mantle.
The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent. Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.
I usually run with a theme. Like many/most people we are mostly at home at the moment. And, while I am happy at home, it has fairly forcibly reminded me that I am deep in a rut of same old/same old.
So, with some apologies, Sunday Selections is coming to you from my garden - which is definitely hinting strongly that Spring is on her way.
I do love rain bejewelled leaves. Which is just as well because our weather has definitely been on the damp side. Which is more than welcome.
And, still peering above the parapets of that rut, some birds which have visited this week.
I hope that your weeks are jam packed with beauty, and that if you are also in a rut that you are comfortable there. I do hope to get out of the rut next week and share a long awaited treat.
PS: I am again wrestling the New Blogger and having huge difficulties sizing photos. Please accept my apologies.
I love love the raindrops on the leaf. Its inspirational. I will probably write about it somewhere. But the bird photos...well, I am a birdie freak, so love them. I see you have been feeding them apples. I know they love you for that. A stroll through your garden is a wonderful thing! Thanks for taking me.
ReplyDeleteJ C: A lot of our native birds are very partial to apple. For some reason they much prefer green apples to red. As a direct result, green apples are a fixture on our grocery list. I would love to see you write about raindrops. Your poetry (and particularly your haiku) delights and awes me.
DeleteSpring is on her way there....oh dear...that means that Fall is coming soon here...
ReplyDeleteYou have a very colourful garden and beautiful visitors ... a pleasure to look at. :)
Be well. Be safe.
Caterina: Spring is most definitely on her way. I do hope that her ugly sister summer is not too close behind her.
DeleteAnd thank you.
I sure gave teh new blogger a try, but I decided I couldn't handle it, so I am just going with the old until they kick me off of it. Those flowers in the first shot- what are they? So pretty. Your birds are gorgeous too- very colorful.
ReplyDeleteTerri: New blogger is a bit of a beast isn't it? I have reverted (again) to the legacy version and hope that they keep both in place for a while.
DeleteThe first blooms are wattle - the emblem of our land. Wattle Day is the first of September, but I suspect that by then ours will have been and gone.
The colors of your flowers and those birds(!!!) are so beautiful and vibrant. A pleasure to see. I'm sad for you, though, that spring has been so forceful. Does this mean no frozen bubbles for you?
ReplyDeleteHugs to you and scritches to Jazz!
River Fairchild: I am hoping (a lot) that winter has not yet left the building and that I do get another chance to freeze bubbles. Blue is not my colour though so I am not holding my breath.
DeleteJazz and I thank you. He is (for the moment) in a remarkably benign mood. Hugs to you too. Today and every day.
Heipsan, for a long time. You have beautiful spring. These flowers are lovely. And the parrots are really fantastic. Hugs and be care yourself.
ReplyDeleteorvokki: Lovely to see you here. I hope you are well. When Spring settles in I am hoping for a LOT more colour - but am happy to wait.
DeleteLove the photos.
ReplyDeleteJamie Ghione: Thank you.
DeleteWow your photos arÄ™ amazing. Birds arÄ™ lovely. Greetings from Jedlicze Poland
ReplyDeleteGosia: Thank you. I hope your weekend is going well.
DeleteYour garden is lovely, Sue - and this is winter? You know I love those parrots and cockatoos visiting you. The closest I can get to them right now is the feather from the crest of a Sulphur-crested Vandal sent to me by you know who!
ReplyDeleteDavid M. Gascoigne: Thank you. It is indeed winter, but a winter which is rapidly being pushed aside. The Sulphur Crested Vandals have begun their garden depreciations again. Yesterday one stripped ALL of the leaves from an iris I am particularly fond of. Stripped all of the leaves from several of those iris.
DeleteThere is the option to revert to classic blogger but good for you for helping to polish the new. I'm sure they are still refining. your garden is always changing and always a pleasure I enjoyed your pictures. The one of the feather is very nice. Hang in there enjoy your days and hours
ReplyDeleteCloudia: At the moment I bounce between the old and the new. I am grateful that some changes have been made - and I have most assuredly made comments/requests to the administrators. Thank you for your kind words about the garden and my photos.
DeleteYes the new blogger is a pain. After I load a picture(s). I switch from compose to html. The hit format html. Then look for the line that has the picture width on it. It's usually around 5xx. I change it to 400 and that seems to fix everything.

I changed /s526/ to /s400/. I had to take out all the <> so the comment would accept this.
Mike: Thank you. I will try and remember this next time I wrestle with photos and new blogger. I really resent them fixing the unbroken though.
DeleteNo need for apologies, EC. Your array of photos is wonderful...beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteThis year is flying by...already I am dreading the thought of the summer heat! I wish time would slow down a bit..put on the brakes!
I hope the coming week treats you kindly, EC...take good care. Cuddles to the handsome Jazz. :)
Lee: I hear you on the time front. I am really not looking forward to summer - but perversely I AM looking forward to 2020 being in the rear view mirror.
DeleteI hope you and the furry overlords have a delightful week.
As usual, your wonderful flowers and colorful birds have lifted my spirits. I can see signs of early fall here, too, and also can't wait to see 2020 in the rear view mirror. We have an out of control pandemic and an election to struggle through first. :-(
ReplyDeleteDJan: It is lovely to see you here. I hope that SmartGuy is continuing to recover well. The pandemic affects the world - as will the results of your election.
DeleteWhat a beautiful array of colours - birds, flowers, raindrops on leaves - a very cheering selection. We have had a couple of hard frosts (for here) the last few days, and before that there's been HEAPS of rain and lots of wild windy weather - I've had enough of winter, thanks.
ReplyDeleteYou certainly don't need to apologise for your photos; they are excellent. I really love the white daffodils.
All the best for you and yours this coming week.
Alexia: Thank you. There are a lot more daffodils and jonquils yet to bloom (if the cockies allow it). More photos will follow.
DeleteWe have had drizzle more often than real rain, but it has been very, very welcome. Like you we have had wind. I am not a fan.
I am happy to keep winter for a while but understand that others are not.
Stay well, stay safe - and happy walking.
I love seeing your garden!
ReplyDeleteMy corellas? Where are they?
Susan Kane: Today's last photo IS a corella. Just for you. An apple munching corella. Later I will try and get a photo close to your local shopping centre where hundreds of them gather in the early morning.
DeleteThe photos turned out fine. It is always so good to see wattle in bloom and it one thing there is little of here in the city. The bird photos are great.
ReplyDeleteAndrew: Thank you. There is quite a lot of wattle in my city (mostly Cootamundra wattle) and it is starting to burst into bloom. Like golden daffodils it is a welcome splash of colour.
DeleteYay for spring arriving! If I'm in a rut at home, I would never know it, I feel fine and this is where I want to be! Your flowers are so pretty! The rain bejewelled leaves are awesome, what a great photo! The picture of the feather is very nice! :) I was having issues with the new Blogger with regards to photos too, it's quite annoying. I do hope they fix things!
ReplyDeleteRain: Thank you. I think a lot of us are struggling with New Blogger. On the plus side they are (mostly) responding to feed back, but goodness the new version is slow and cumbersome.
DeleteI am a home lover too. Big time.
Is spring that close? I've lost all time (and sense!).
ReplyDeleteJoanne Noragon: It seems that Spring IS that close. We call it spring on the first day of next month, but the season ignores us and works to her own agenda.
DeleteI am happy for you to have spring, EC, but sad to lose summer so soon.
ReplyDeleteI never tire of your blooms.
Marie Smith: Thank you. I do hope you can hang onto summer (and us winter) for a bit longer yet. Quite a bit longer.
DeleteLovely pictures. Spring is a wonderful season. In a couple of weeks, my second favorite season will be here. I love the break from the heat. Our summer has been fairly mild this year. It is blazingly hot; but, not as hot as it can get.
ReplyDeleteAnn Bennett: Thank you. I like all of our seasons - except summer. Summer I class as the sweaty season and I am always glad to see it gone. That said, I am very happy to live in an area which gets four seasons.
DeleteOh my this was a test of patience today with our new blogger but I got it completed and I was especially curious to see how it looked in the finished copy. You have excellent photos as usual, and they are of perfect size. Mine well, you shall see. Still a work in progress! Enjoy your week ahead, take care.
ReplyDelete21 Wits: It is a challenge isn't it? Looking forward to seeing your post, and echoing your very welcome wishes to me.
DeleteYour photos delight me and the birds are so colorful. Thanks for the tour of your garden with all those lovely flowers. The droplets on leaves is also special to me. I have a rose photo taken by my late husband with a drop of dew on a petal. That picture hangs in my house and I love it. Be safe.
ReplyDeleteGlenda Beall: Thank you. I can well understand that picture being very, very special indeed. A thing of beauty AND it was taken by your much loved husband.
DeleteI'm so comfortable in my rut, I may never leave, ha ha. We have wattle bursting out around here too, but the enormous lemon scented one near the community room here is no more :(
ReplyDeleteThe block was razed a few years ago and now two new large townhouses are there, filling the block, with no garden around them. love the raindrops on leaves and I see you have Wallflowers blooming! Every time I see them, I remind myself that I want some, but still haven't bought any. Are they grown from bulbs? I'll add them to my list.
River: I am really sorry that the lemon scented wattle is gone.
DeleteThe wallflowers bloom just about all year round. I bought a plant (from Bunnings I think) quite a number of years ago and it has spread and taken off.
New blogger is a pain sometimes, I have trouble centering the photos, sometimes it works and other times not so..
ReplyDeleteYours look alright.
Love the parrots are always, the flowers are beautiful and I just adore and love the daffodils, more so because I miss them in our winter when up north but not this years :)
Take care.
Margaret D: I think that New Blogger is always a pain. Everything takes longer and some things are hard to make work at all.
DeleteI hope that you see lots and lots of daffs this year to make up for not getting away from winter.
I stayed with the old blogger. Too many issues with the new one, and too limiting. I love this post. Flowers, birds--- wonderful!
ReplyDeleteBill: Thank you. Sadly I believe that at the end of the month all of us will be forced to make the shift. Big sigh. Big, big sigh.
DeleteYou can guess my facial expression, and probably hear my deep breathing.mmmmm-in and sighhhhh.out.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
dinahmow: I am hoping for a bounteously blooming spring. We have had twice as much rain to date this year as we did last. And yes, I am sure you would love it - though you would be put to work.
DeleteBeautiful selection of flowers and of course, the birds.
ReplyDeleteBob Bushell: Thank you.
DeleteNo apologies needed. Your photos are gorgeous as always.
ReplyDeletee: Thank you. I am wrestling with New Blogger but it has improved. A bit.
DeleteI hope you and Lukas are both safe and well.
Lovely flowers, they're really pretty! 💗💙💚💛
ReplyDeleteAnd the birds are givin' me LIFE! 😉
Hot guys: Thank you. On both counts. I do love both the garden and the birds. Rather a lot.
DeleteDear EC
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos and good to hear you have been having some rain. The colours on the birds are stunning and the flowers are beautiful. What a wonderful way to start a cloudy, dull Sunday (although we had some much needed rain last night too).
Best wishes
Ellie
Ellie Foster: The rain is very, very welcome. I am glad that you got a little rain - and hope that the temperatures have gone down a little. I am not a fan of summer heat and think I remember that you are not either.
DeleteStay safe and well.
Oh how utterly delightful your pictures are!!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful colours, both of the flowers and the birds, that they could almost be from another world!!
I have enjoyed them so very much...my heartfelt thanks for sharing!😊😊
I know exactly what you mean about the new style blogger...it is driving me crazy too!😬 Why, oh why, can't they just leave things as they were??
I am going to be absent from blogger for a short while, as I have to go into hospital for a biopsy. Didn't want you to think I had abandoned you! Will hopefully be back soon.
Take care and stay safe, my dear friend!
Sending much love and hugs ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Ygraine: Another biopsy? I am sorry and hope it goes well and nothing untoward is found. I am sending oceans of good (and healthy) wishes your way.
DeleteI do love my garden and the visiting birds and am so very grateful that others enjoy them as well.
Please look after yourself. You matter.
Hi EC - love the flowers ... especially the anemones - my mother's jewels - and the mimosa ... gorgeous to be in daffodil time too; we are definitely in autumn ... it's been so dry - though torrential storms around - not here. Thankfully it's cooled down a little - though no doubt I'll be groaning about the cold soon! Take care - and yes rut-land it is ... but I'd rather not catch the 'lurgy' ... take care and stay safe at home ... Hilary xo
ReplyDeleteHilary Melton-Butcher: I remember you saying that your mother had a particular fondness for anemones. I have more coming out each day and will send you some photos later this week.
DeleteI am very glad that you have a little more coolth- and hope you escape the torrential rains.
Hunker down and stay safe.
Rain bejewelled is my favourite too! And I am in mega difficulties adjusting to the new Blogger...horrible straits.
ReplyDeleteStay well.
Nilanjana Bose: Those particular jewels mean a LOT more to me than any diamond. Precious, life giving gems.
DeleteFlowers are lovely Sue. Really spring flowers aren't they? You really don't seem to get much winter at all. I can't believe the brilliant red on that bird, sorry don't know it's name, but what a colour.
ReplyDeleteJo: The bird in question is a male King Parrot. That one (and a few others) will happily eat from our hands now.
DeleteOur winters are mild on a global standard and this one has been warmer and briefer than usual.
Your photos are always beautiful. Never apologize for your “rut” as you always bring sunshine into our lives with your photos. As for blogger I’m still using the old version and don’t want to ever change. Take care and be safe my friend.
ReplyDeleteMason Canyon: Thank you so much for your always positive words. I know I am going to have to settle into 'New Blogger' soon - and wish I didn't.
DeleteStay well, stay safe.
Love these birds!
ReplyDeleteNatlia: Thank you. We do too.
DeleteI never get tired of your garden. You have such a diversity of flowers, all so beautiful. I look forward to the weekends to see what you've posted.
ReplyDelete(I've had trouble with the new blogger too. I just didn't have patience to deal with change right now, so don't know when I'll post again.)
Hope you have a pleasant and safe week.
Myrna R.: Thank you so much. Selfishly I am glad to hear that other people are also struggling with New (bloody) Blogger. I do hope it doesn't discourage you for too long though. Your poems so often sing to me, sing for me...
DeleteYou have a beautiful garden! Love it all. And the birds are a treat, so colorful.
ReplyDeletegigi-hawaii: Thank you. Rather a lot of my blood, sweat and tears goes into the garden but it is (mostly) worth it. We love the birds too.
DeleteDefinitely spring on the way. Beautiful garden and birds. At least you're stuck in a nice place.
ReplyDeleteAlex J. Cavanaugh: Thank you. I am grateful and hope that your home is also lovely.
DeleteI wish I was strong enough and savvy enough to launch my raft into the Pacific Ocean off Newport and sail to Australia and visit both you and Andrew before my time on earth is up. I love the feather photo. My brother is in a rut, his wife tells me, depressed and isolated. I tell her let's get together halfway between here and there somewhere. We'll do our best to distance and all that, but its best not to die from withering away of one's mind and hope. I don't know if they'll do it. I want to see them.
ReplyDeleteStrayer: Meeting up with your brother and his wife sounds like an excellent idea. I hope that you can do it.
DeleteAnd I would love it if you could come to visit Andrew and me. I would like to meet Andrew myself.
I love your garden pictures and the birds are so pretty. I've been having problems with the new blogger as well.
ReplyDeleteMary Kirkland: Thank you. Look after Ken and yourself. Please.
DeleteLove the flowers.
ReplyDeleteR's Rue: Thank you.
DeleteOooooooh, that red head bird. And the bright yellow flowers. All the flowers. Joy, joy, joy.
ReplyDeleteMe too, I love bejewelled grass, leaves, especially when they catch the sunlight.
neena maiya (guyana gyal): They bring us joy too. Lots of it.
DeleteThere he is! Handsome as ever!
ReplyDeleteSusan Kane: Most afternoons (and often in the early morning as well) we get a dozen or more corellas coming by. You would love it. And I will try very hard to get a photo of the bigger flock which we see nearby for you.
DeleteI am sticking with old blogger for now, I bet I am going to have giant difficulties, being a bit of a Luddite.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are magnificent and your birds too - everything is so much brighter than my efforts in this pale and colourless country.
Friko: I LOVED seeing shots of your garden in your post today. So very much.
DeleteAnd yes, sadly there will be a lot of us Luddites suffering in the coming weeks.
What is that third flower? It's awfully pretty!
ReplyDeleteJohn Wiswell: It is a Cape Daisy - I have planted a lot of them, in a range of colours and will undoubtedly buy and plant some more.
DeleteYour garden and the birds that visit are a delight!
ReplyDeleteToday, my selections are quite eclectic.
messymimi: Thank you. I thoroughly enjoyed your eclectic selections this week.
DeleteYour beautiful offerings are much appreciated, EC. Have a good week.
ReplyDeletejenny_o: Thank you for your kindness. You have a good week too.
DeleteYou are a wonderful photographer, Sue.
ReplyDeleteStarting Over, Accepting Changes - Maybe: Thank you. I do like my point and shoot camera. It has been very good to me, and still has functions I have yet to explore.
DeleteSuch a bright and cheery pictures, and we all love your garden so much! Be well my friend! Hugs, RO
ReplyDeleteRO: Thank you. I need bright and cheery at the moment, as I suspect many of us do. I hope your week is lovely - and I reciprocate your hugs.
DeleteOh man. Those Spring colours - such wonderful and enticing. Now I only wish I was rich enough to have my own plane and a summe/winter house somewhere in the southern hemisphere to go to when days get short here.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte (MotherOwl): If I was rich (and travel was allowed again) I would love to avoid our summers. Every year. In the meantime I cool down looking at photos from your side of the world.
DeleteHi EC,
ReplyDeleteOur birds are so boring compared to the ones Down Under.
Great photos.
:o)
Cheers
PM
Plastic Mancunian: One of my partner's nephews summed it up when they first moved to Australia. 'The birds here are pretty - but they sound dreadful'.
DeleteNew Blogger is causing me some issues too!
ReplyDeleteLove the pics - especially the drops on the leaves!! :)
Jemi Fraser: Thank you. I have heard very few people say that New Blogger is an improvement.
DeleteNew Blogger is an adjustment for me as well.
ReplyDeleteLove seeing spring making its way to you. Beautiful flowers and birds. I also love rain bejewelled leaves. Spectacular! :)
Glad you got some much needed rain. We got some yesterday and it was dreamy to have some rain. The ground and plants were cheering for sure.
~Jess
DMS ~Jess: And isn't the smell of rain-washed air delightful?
DeleteI hope that you (and we) get some more.
Wonderful treat on a Monday, thank you so much, the flowers and birds are incredible. Let me know if you trick your way through New Blogger, I'm finding it intimidating.
ReplyDeleteXO
WWW
Wisewebwoman: I am so glad you enjoyed my selections. At the moment I can (mostly) make New Blogger do what I need. Not easily though. I find it counter intuitive and very slow and cumbersome.
DeleteFirst your photos are lovely. Are you having an early spring or is this normal for your climate?
ReplyDeleteNew Blogger is a royal pain in the behind!
Anne in the kitchen: An early spring - which I hope doesn't mean an early summer.
DeleteAnd I agree with your assessment of New Blogger. Wholeheartedly.
The bird photos are amazing, as always! And it's nice to see spring rains in your garden. It seems only a few weeks ago that you were in winter temperatures - am I just losing track of time, or do you have a very short winter?
ReplyDeleteDiane Henders: This winter has been very, very short which, given this years summer from hell is scaring me. We might get more winter yet, but the signs say clearly that spring is moving in.
DeleteYou have such a beautiful garden with so much color. Unfortunately I don't know all of the flowers, I wish I did. And those birds - I'm sure they offer endless entertainment. - My garden is my refuge, and has been even more so with the pandemic. I feel very blessed to have a place like that. I'm not sure I would do well if I were living in an appartment with no outdoor space that I can create according to my own wishes.
ReplyDeleteCarola Bartz: I am very certain that if I was living in an apartment without outdoor space I would be struggling. The garden (despite the work it requires) has saved me more than once. And you are right - the birds DO offer endless entertainment.
DeleteMy favorite is the leaf with the drops on it. It's so intricate. I hate new blogger. I switched back to old blogger, but at some point I guess the powers that be will force me to join the changing times. As usual, if something is good and it's working, it gets changed.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Janie Junebug: I really like that leaf too. Thank you. I have been switching between old and new blogger, but dread the day when I can no longer go back to familiar territory. Familiar territory which works.
DeleteRain jewels, flowers, bright birds - not going to get bored of that! Photo sizing is good btw xx
ReplyDeleteLisa Southard: Thank you. How I resented struggling with photo sizing - which in the past was easy.
DeleteSo gorgeous!
ReplyDelete...did you cut that pear and stick it onto the branch for the bird to come to? Great idea!
Sandi: It is apple rather than pear, but we do indeed put them out for the birds. At least five of our native birds are very fond of them - though for some reason they MUCH prefer green apple.
DeleteSo many beautiful flowers and really love those parrot pictures.
ReplyDeleteHena Tayeb: Thank you.
DeleteNever apologize for your garden shots. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying I enjoy them so. As I do your vibrant bird shots.
ReplyDeleteHugs
Sandra Cox: Thank you. I do worry about continually putting up much the same post. Variety the spice of life?
DeleteTo judge from those shots you have a very fine garden. And how wonderful to have such colourful avian visitors.
ReplyDeleteJohn "By Stargoose And Hanglands": Thank you. The garden is a work in progress (always) and we do love our birds. It is just after dawn here, and they are starting to arrive.
DeleteSuch a lovely photo mix 🌺🌼 Regards!!
ReplyDeletewindowtothebeauty: Many thanks. And thank you for the flowers in your comment too.
DeleteA tremendous benefit of having blogmates in the other hemisphere is that i get to enjoy Spring twice! We are just starting to move into autumn, and while i look forward to the turning of the leaves, i miss the bright colors of spring! Hope you are well! <3
ReplyDeletedaisyfae: Crossing hemispheres is a huge bonus in the blogosphere isn't it? When we are deep in the nastiness of the sweaty season I turn to your winter for cool relief. And revel in a double dose of all the seasons I enjoy.
DeleteI am fine - and hope that you are doing well and not toooo stir crazy.
I am so so envious, I have turned GREEN. The colours in your garden, the many different flowers and the BIRDS (my BFF), you have paradise. I can't be in a rut if I live where you do but hope spring cheers you up soon.
ReplyDeletekestrel: Thank you. What worries me is that I am comfortable in my rut. I love the birds, I love the garden and it worries me that I don't stretch my wings. Even before Covid 19 I rarely stretched them...
DeleteWe are in the same rut, but your rut produces wonderful photos! The flowers are gorgeous and so are the birds, and the feather suspended is really catching to the eye.
ReplyDeleteDeniseinVA: Thank you. There are a lot of those suspended feathers about at the moment and they DO draw my eyes. And camera.
DeleteHello! What beautiful pictures! I fell in love with the parrots, do they walk outdoors?
ReplyDeleteAlso, I still didn't get along with the new features of Blogguer.
Hugs and Kisses.
Sandra C.
Bluestrass
Sandra C: Welcome and thank you. All of the birds featured are wild and fly free. We are privileged and they are regular visitors here.
DeleteWow-wow-wow. Look at those birds! I love the flowers, too. Certainly your garden is jam-packed with beauty. :)
ReplyDeleteBea: Parts of the garden are beauty packed. A work in progress always. Aren't the birds a colourful joy?
DeleteSuch a nice selection of photographs here.
ReplyDeleteMy good wishes.
All the best Jan
Lowcarb team member ~Jan: Thank you. I really appreciate you trawling through my back posts.
DeleteI love your garden! No apologies needed! Big Hugs!
ReplyDeleteMagic Love Crow: Thank you. As always - for your kind words and the hugs - which I return with interest.
Delete
