Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files.
Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.
The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life. Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks), and I have accepted the mantle.
The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent. Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.
I usually run with a theme. This has been a busy week, and neither Jazz nor I have been at our best. As I type we have a house guest so I am reverting yet again to same old, same old.
The camellias that the birds have left us just glowed in the very early morning light.
I do love the early morning - which is just as well because I see a lot of it.
I am going to finish this post with a few frozen bubbles. It was (again) nearly cold enough one day last week. It was also a bit breezy so I didn't have the success I hoped for. I had fun anyway.
I do like the 'shell' that a partially frozen bubble leaves behind when it pops.
I know that many of you are enduring very hot temperatures. I hope these photos bring you some cool relief. And for those on this side of the world I hope you enjoy my frosty play, while staying comfortable and warm.
Love those frozen bubbles and the shells which remain when they pop. It is hot here now too so these bubbles are welcome!
ReplyDeleteMarie Smith: I am so glad that my cool bubbles were welcome. Stay as cool as you can.
DeleteBeautiful photos, Ele. 😊
ReplyDeleteSandi: Thank you.
DeleteI'm too polite to mention you've peaked a little early. Must be the distraction of a visitor.
ReplyDeleteYour moon photos are great and so good to see some frozen bubbles.
Andrew: How right you were. It was the distraction of my visitor (or I am going to blame him anyway). I do hope to get a better bubble day before winter ends. Not today though - it is not yet dawn and we are already in positive temperatures.
DeleteIt's all so beautiful! My post will be up a bit later.
ReplyDeletemessymimi: I look forward to your post - and mine went up a day early. My bad.
DeleteMy selections are over here.
Deletemessymimi: I thoroughly enjoyed your selections.
DeleteThanks for the breath of cool air, EC!
ReplyDeleteLovely flowers, fabulous moon and we really love those frozen bubbles!
Take good care.
Anonymous (who I assume google is concealing from me): Thank you.
DeleteLove it all, especially the black photographic surround of early morning. I like the bubbles. The one with the green button was fascinating.
ReplyDeleteJoanne Noragon: That green button was a drop of the dishwashing liquid I use to blow the bubbles. It intrigued me too.
DeleteGorgeous! How do you make those bubbles? They look like fun! Enjoy your house guest and have a lovely week.
ReplyDeletee: The bubbles are fun - and simple to make. I have a small jar of dishwashing liquid into which I dip a home made bubble blower and blow. When it is cold enough instead of popping and disappearing they freeze.
DeleteEnjoy seeing your bubbles. The camellias are good, mine yet to come out and bloom, lots of buds though.. Enjoy your visitors and hope you are feeling much improved in a day or two if not before.....take care and don't over do it with visitors being there :)
ReplyDeleteMargaret D: Most of our camellias are still in bud. Two of them are flowering. Early. The visitor has gone and now I have just the clean up to do.
DeleteI am not looking forward tor the frozen bubble season, but I enjoyed seeing them here and knowing that you had fun making them. : )
ReplyDeleteCaterina: I had a heap of fun. Enjoy your summer while I enjoy our winter.
DeleteI love the frozen bubble pics. I always say I am going to try them here, but we rarely have a day cold enough for them. Right now I am pretty sure I could have a fried sidewalk egg photo
ReplyDeleteAnne in the kitchen: I will take my frozen bubble days over your fried egg days anytime. And yes, we have those days in summer too. Stay cool and enjoy your pool.
DeleteIs this meant for tomorrow? I like the frozen bubbles and the moon shots are great.
ReplyDeleteRiver: I did indeed post too early. My bad - and thank you.
DeleteI have never seen frozen bubbles! Interesting!!
ReplyDeleteBill: I suspect that you would have more freezing bubble days than we do. I first saw them reported on an site in the Northern Hemisphere - and knew I had to try them.
DeleteIt's ice bubble time!
ReplyDeleteMike: It is. Or it was. Not today or any day this week if the forecasters are telling the truth. Which they often don't.
DeleteHi EC - enjoy your visitor and the colder weather. I'd love to see the frozen bubbles one day - but as the cold doesn't appeal, I'll stick with the English weather, despite the recent heat, luckily not so bad on the coast.
ReplyDeleteI do hope you and Jazz feel easier soon ... take care and your 'same old, same old' are always a delight to see - the camellias do glow ... while the moon recently has been glorious in bright dark skies. Cheers and all the best - Hilary
Hilary Melton-Butcher: Thank you. I am glad that the heat hasn't been quite so oppressive for you - and enjoy your summer.
DeleteDear EC
ReplyDeleteOoh, such lovely photos. I love the moon images and your camellias are looking beautiful. Frozen bubble time again too!
I hope you all have a better week.
Best wishes
Ellie
Ellie Foster: Thank you. This week will be busy, but I hope healthier for both me and Jazz. I hope yours is healthy, happy and creative.
DeleteSorry you are not in peak form, Sue, and hope you will feel better soon. I am delighted to see the frozen bubbles. I look forward to this every year - and wish we could exchange our weathers. Yesterday it hit thirty degrees here - mild compared to most of the continent, but dreadful nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteDavid M. Gascoigne: 30C is well outside my comfort zone too. I hope you can find some cool relief (and nature) in the early mornings.
DeleteI hope you can hunker down and recover.
ReplyDeleteI do like the frozen bubbles! It's been 33 C. here.
(ツ) from Jenn Jilks , ON, Canada!
Jen Jilks: 33? Shudder. I much prefer our current temperatures. Stay as cool as you can. And thank you.
DeleteI've been waiting for those frozen bubbles. Thanks... I hope that you'll feel better this week. It's been so hot here and I too had visitors this week. I didn't worked outside all week since I had 2 sets of visitors this week. In all I had 9 visitors and today it's just the two of us again. It felt very nice having people visiting like normal.
ReplyDeleteBe well and happy.
Hugs,
Julia
Julia: Nine visitors? You are a MUCH stronger woman and I am. I hope that both of us can get outside into the garden this coming week.
DeleteLove those frozen bubbles and the shells they leave behind. Great captures, EC. The flowers are so pretty too.
ReplyDeleteXO
WWW
Wisewebwoman: Thank you. I am fascinated with frozen bubbles and their shells blow me away. I am loving the camellias too. I hope that both of us have healthier weeks. Huge hugs.
DeleteBubbles - woohoo! I'm glad you had fun and then shared the results with us; thank you! It is miserably hot here; we've just come through five days and have another five at least in the forecast. I worry constantly about my mother and if she is cool enough, and then she gets mad that I'm checking :) This too shall pass THIS TOO SHALL PASS if I say it loud enough and long enough ...
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear you and Jazz are not doing so well, and I'm sure having company is an additional stress even if you enjoy the company. There is always so much to do for meals and accommodation and entertaining, and then the mental energy it takes on top of that. Wishing you better days in the not too distant future, my dear friend. Please take time to rest. Your guest would probably enjoy a rest too; but even if not, just do it for yourself anyway. Hugs.
jenny_o: THIS TOO SHALL PASS indeed. Repeating that phrase (even to myself) has helped. I am sorry that you are miserably hot and that you worry about your mama (and then get slapped down for checking on her). Huge hugs.
DeleteThe guest has now gone, and just the clean up (sheets/towel etc) remains. I hope that you have a better week and that your hot spell breaks early. Much love oh sister across the seas.
I always look forward to your bubbles, they make the whole world seem more delightful. And I love your moon shots as well. Sending you happy and healing thoughts, dear friend.
ReplyDeleteDJan: I look forward to them too - and was worrying that it wasn't going to be cold enough this year. I have had better years, but still have hopes for a better day. Thank you.
DeleteBeautiful images, I love the spheres EC.
ReplyDeleteBob Bushell: Thank you. I love the bubbles too. A lot.
DeleteI'm sorry to learn the past week wasn't the most comfortable for you and Jazz, EC. I hope the coming one treats you both a whole lot better...take good care (I know you do)...cuddles to Jazz :)
ReplyDeleteLee: Thank you. I am hoping for a much better week -for us both. I hope you and the furry overlords are staying warm.
DeleteI agree with DJan. Your frozen bubbles make the whole world seem better. I think you are so creative to do that and photograph the bubbles so we can all share them. It is so hot here I just don't go outside. With health issues, the heat saps my energy and I don't have much of that these days. I hope you feel better as the days go by. I appreciate your encouraging comments on my blog.
ReplyDeleteGlenda C. Beall: Thank you. Heat saps my energy too, and on very hot days I turn into a troll and only come out at night. I do hope you get some cool relief soon, and I am very glad that the bubbles pleased you.
DeleteI always enjoy your frozen bubbles -thank you for sharing! Here's hoping for better days for you and Jazz. :-)
ReplyDeleteDiane Henders: Thank you - on both counts.
DeleteGood of the birds to leave you a couple of flowers. ;)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shots of the moon! Just incredible. I don't know how you do it.
The shell of the bubbles always reminds me of spider webs. And I love looking at your morning photos. Despite being up on workdays before dawn, I'm not a morning person so I don't look around at the beauty.
Give Jazz a few scritches from me and hugs to yourself. I hope both of you have a better week coming up!
River Fairchild: It was/is very generous of the birds to leave us some blooms. Others they shred. I know what you mean about the bubble shells and spider webs. I am a beauty addict and find it everywhere.
DeleteJazz is being difficult this morning so I will delay giving him a scritch until his mood is less uncertain. Hugs.
I love the frozen bubbles!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteStrayer: So do I.
DeleteHaving "enjoyed" 39°C this week your bubbles are a welcome refresher. ;-)
ReplyDeleteMay the coming week treat you kindly, Sue.
Sean Jeating: That is way too hot. I hope that you can find some escape from that foretaste of hell. And thank you. A kind week would be more than welcome.
DeleteYou always have the best photo themes!
ReplyDeletejono: What a lovely thing to say. Thank you.
Deletewonderful photos and love seeing them all, that bubble awesome xx
ReplyDeleteaussie aNNie: Thank you. The bubbles are something I look forward to creating every year.
DeleteIt’s good to see your frozen bubbles :) Your flowers are delightful as are the moon shots, also the contrasts from light to dark on the hillside. A wonderful selection!
ReplyDeleteDeniseinVA: Thank you.
DeleteI do admire you for getting up so early on frosty mornings.. I'm much more of a sloth in my habits.. prefer warm weather and slow to move when it is cold.. freezing bubbles might get me up earlier so thanks for sharing your fun
ReplyDeleteAnna: There is no virtue in it. I wake very early and prefer cold weather to hot. I had a heap of fun with the bubbles though.
DeleteI always like your frozen bubbles, but today, I think they are edged out by those camellias and the moon...thank you.
ReplyDeletedinahmow: I am still hoping for a better bubble morning - but enjoyed this one. And the camellias fill me with joy and look at their best in the very early morning. I always love the moon, and am very happy when I can take photos that aren't instantly delete material. And lots were when I took these.
DeleteI love frozen bubbles. They look like fantasy illustrations. There should be a fairy inside each one.
ReplyDeleteOlga Godim: I love them too. And would love to read a story of yours featuring them... And yes, that is a hint. And a plea.
DeleteBuona domenica
ReplyDeleteGiancarlo: Nice to see you again. Thank you - and to you.
DeleteI do forget that this time of the year your country is cold, not hot. I have been spared the heat that has been gripping our country, but that will soon be coming to an end. Next week will be hot. I always love seeing the birds and flowers that you take pictures of. But the pictures you got of the moon are magnificent.
ReplyDeleteLisa: I am glad that you have (so far) escaped the really hot weather. And glad to be in our winter. Thank you for your kind words.
DeleteSorry to read this has not been a good week for either you or Jazz. I wish there was something I could do to help, but I live too far away, I fear.
ReplyDeleteYour moon shots are superb, but your frozen bubbles are incredible. It's amazing how long some of them stayed in place. So glad you shared them. Now please enjoy your guest, and of course, your cold weather as I bake in my home.
Bleubeard and Elizabeth: Thank you. The guest has now gone and both Jazz and I are hoping for a better week. I do hope you can find some cool relief.
DeleteI love to see your frozen bubbles. Those popped ones look like a cross between chewing gum and spiders' web. I am happily enjoying my summer here, thank you, as I'm a creature of warmth and long days.
ReplyDeleteThe moon photos are just splendid! And the flowers, so exotic and colourful.
Charlotte (MotherOwl): I am very glad you are enjoying your summer. My greedy self likes long days, but prefers it to be cool.
DeleteI see my comment has landed in SPAM!
ReplyDeleteBleubeard and Elizabeth: It did - but I have restored it.
DeleteI love seeing all the frosty bubbles. It's hot as heck here this week. Those moon shots are amazing.
ReplyDeleteMary Kirkland: I have been watching the temperatures on your side of the world and shuddering. Our winter is MUCH kinder to me than your temperatures. I hope you have a way to cool down.
DeleteHope you and Jazz are feeling better. I love all your photos but the ones of the moon are my favorite. Loving your bubbles too. Have a great week my friend, take care.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous: How I hate that blogger is concealing people's identity. Thank you so much - you have a great week too.
DeleteLove your photos and narrative. I am certainly a morning person . Though the colder weather in southern hemisphere is pushing my morning back somewhat. The purple sky is so lovely there too.
ReplyDeleteroentare: Thank you. I do love the early morning skies - and manage much better in cooler weather.
DeleteI am just amazed by those bubbles. Seems so unreal. Just love them and your moon, too.
ReplyDeletegigi-hawaii: I am amazed by frozen bubbles too. I am so glad that having seen them (in your hemisphere) I remembered to try them when our winter came around.
DeletePer usual, your photographs are stunning. I wish I could see a bubble here.

DeleteNever seen a frozen bubble action this close. Loved it!
ReplyDeleteDamyanti Biswas: I am hoping that we get a super cold morning so that I can not only freeze bubbles, but also watch as frost develops on the frozen spheres.
DeleteI have never seen a frozen bubble before. I really enjoyed all the pictures. We have been enduring heat, and it looks like more to come before it's over.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth Varadan: Thank you. I hope you have some way of staying cool in the heat. I much prefer cooler temperatures and think it is easier to get warm and stay warm than the opposite.
DeleteWow.. look at those frozen bubbles. So cool.
ReplyDeleteHena Tayeb: They are. Literally and figuratively.
DeleteThe moon in the sky and the frozen bubbles on the ground kind of mirror each other's beauty. Your images so often capture my sense of amazement at the everyday beauty and poetry in the things around us. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteOn a less happy note, I am one of those in rather uncomfortably hot temperatures, though I am on your side of the world now. Feeling tad hard done by at having to endure another hot July, that too in winter. But super thankful nothing nearby is burning spontaneously.
Nilanjana Bose: As you know I am a beauty addict, and so grateful that there is a lot of it about.
DeleteI really dislike heat (and humidity) but I am very glad that there are no fires near you. Stay as cool and as comfortable as you can.
Yay, it's frozen bubble time. I definitely feel cooler.
ReplyDeleteThe camellias are beautiful and the moon glorious.
I do hope you and Jazz have a health-filled day.
Hugs
Sandra Cox: Thank you. It is cool here this morning and definitely not bubble weather. I hope that you are able to stay cool - and don't overwork in the heat. And thank you for those wishes. They mean a lot.
DeleteNevertheless beauty old or new. I have seen only white camelia flowers so your bright red was a surprise. I have made a promise that if I ever get to be in a country during the winter season, I WILL try making frozen bubbles. They look so Christmassy.
ReplyDeletekestrel: Camellias come in a range of colours. Our white one is often burnt by the sun, but the red and the pink ones glow. I hope you do get the opportunity to freeze bubbles - it is a heap of fun.
DeleteFrozen bubbles! Love it.
ReplyDeleteJ Cosmo Newbery: So do I - and hope it gets cold enough to try again.
DeleteThank you for all the lovely photographs, very nice to see, including the frozen bubbles.
ReplyDelete.
Here in the UK we are currently having slightly cooler temperatures, we now need rain as they are talking of drought and hosepipe bans in some UK areas. July has been the driest on record since 1911.
https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/july-driest-england-1911-records-b1015135.html
I do hope that you and Jazz are feeling a little better.
Take care.
All the best Jan
Lowcarb team member ~Jan: I do hope you get rain (and not too much of it when it does fall). Droughts are dreadfully destructive.
DeleteAnd thank you for your kind words and wishes.
I just love those photos the moon looks awesome,
ReplyDeleteRasmaSandra: Thank you. The moon was definitely spectacular.
DeleteBeautiful photos, the frozen bubble is so interesting looking.
ReplyDelete-Quinley
Quinley: Thank you. Frozen bubbles are a heap of fun. They feature in this week's Sunday Selections too.
