Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files. Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.
The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life. Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks), and I have accepted the mantle.
The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent. Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.
I usually run with a theme. I am addicted to beauty. Even on the darkest days and nights I look for it and find it. My last post certainly started in the dark and was certainly sad. It was also chilly, hovering around 1C/33 F when we started. Just the same there was a lot of beauty in it - not least the courage and the solidarity of the walkers.
Blessed blogger has put my photos out of order again, but beauty is beauty where ever it is.
After the walk I had another one, to the nearest bus stop and then two buses and a further walk to reach home.
It was not yet 7.30 when I got home. They were long walks and physically and emotionally tiring walks. I was grateful for the beauty and hope that the other walkers saw and felt it - as I hope you do in your week to come.
Lots of beauty here. Today and every single day.
ReplyDelete: )
Caterina: Here too.
DeleteRiver Fairchild - A very tiring set of walks but I know it was totally worth it to your feeing of wellbeing as having taken part in something so worthwhile. I hope you got to enjoy a long rest after getting home. Hugs and gratitude to you for all you do, and scritches to Batty and Odie.
ReplyDeleteRiver Fairchild: When himself got up (some hours after I got home) we went and did the groceries. I have been pretty much resting since then. And yes, I am very glad I went.
Delete"photos out of order"
ReplyDeleteBlogger just gets more "funner" every day.
Mike: It does. And messes with my mind very successfully.
DeleteThank you for this plethora of wonderful pictures. I felt the day through your pictures, and I am again moved by your dedication to get around via bus like you do. I am also mostly busing around, and I find I really like it, but I rarely have to do multiple buses to get where I need to go. Sending you much love and gratitude.
ReplyDeleteDJan: Travelling by bus gives me some independence - and lets me see parts of the city I would not otherwise see. Beautiful parts.
DeleteThank you. It really was much painful work to collect all this beauty.
ReplyDeleteJoanne Noragon: It was, but was worth the effort.
DeleteSimply beautiful photos. Thank you and you gave a good feeling of the mood of solemnity.
ReplyDeleteAndrew: You are right, it was solemn but also peaceful and beautiful. And the runners/walkers/rowers were in a different mind space to the people I was walking with.
DeleteLovely photos.
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of a walk was this?
Great-Granny Grandma: The walk was to commemorate World Suicide Prevention Day. We start the walk before dawn and walk into the growing light to remember lives lost to suicide, to mourn with and for their families and to raise awareness of suicide prevention services.
DeleteI like the gradual lightening and the lone rower reminded me of my grandson who rowed in highschool. The flower boxes are lovely and your forsythia is gloriously yellow. Love the sunbeams in the last shot.
ReplyDeleteRiver: Isn't that forsythia beautiful? Not mine, but a near neighbours. The flower boxes are for Floriade. I liked those sunbeams too.
DeleteLove the forsythia, one of my favourites and that pic of the walkers by the river, so lovely.
ReplyDeleteXO
WWW
Wisewebwoman: It really was a beautiful walk. And yes, I am a big fan of forsythia too.
DeleteI know everyone appreciated either the physical beauty of the walk or the emotional lift or release it brought.
ReplyDeleteAnne in the kitchen: I hope so. I really, really hope so.
DeleteHi EC - a lovely walk to share with you and I admire your stamina in always joining with it each year ...suicide is desperate for all concerned. Lovely to see the range of beauty ... forsythia is amazing isn't it ... the flowers first, the bright young green leaves following. Thank you for these wonderful photos - out of order ... pffff ... ne'er mind, all good! Take care and all the best for the week ahead - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteHilary Melton-Butcher: I would have liked to post the photos in the order I took them but blogger had other ideas. Forsythia is a truly beautiful harbinger of Spring. My partner's sister nearly divorced her husband when he pruned theirs shortly before it flowered. They were living near Milton-Keanes at the time and she had been hanging out watching and waiting for it to bloom.
DeleteSpring is popping up and out! Wonderful pictures of good things to see in the early morning. The Autumnal Equinox is only a week away, but I'm ready for some fall.
ReplyDeleteBill: After the temperatures you have been enduring I would be more than ready for Autumn.
DeleteThank you for taking us along, I really enjoyed your walk with us. The trees in blossom are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteTake care.
Margaret D: Thank you. It is a beautiful season at any time of day.
DeleteThe sceneries are peaceful and elegant. Would love to stroll along the edge of the lake too
ReplyDeleteroentare: The lake is beautiful (artificial as it is) at all times on day and in all seasons.
DeleteThanks, EC. We all need those moments to appreciate the beauty in nature and in our surroundings, so thank you for the reminder to keep looking.
ReplyDeleteI hope you find plenty to enjoy and appreciate this week too.
Best wishes
Ellie
Ellie Foster: I so often turn to nature for beauty and solace. She never disappoints me. You have a great week too.
DeleteYou saw a lot in just two hours.
ReplyDeleteThe nice thing about those kind of temperatures is that it's super clear. Here, it's a bit hazy in summer from the humidity.
Alex J. Cavanaugh: We often get fog by the lake - which has its own beauty too.
DeleteThese are the kinds of walks that smooth the soul, Sue. It was no doubt an effort, but I am betting that it was well worth it, and you are glad to have done it.
ReplyDeleteDavid M. Gascoigne: It was indeed an effort but you are right - I am very, very happy to have made it.
DeleteOh the trees, EC. Such beauty and promise! I hope you feel better this week!
ReplyDeleteMarie Smith: Thank you. I hope you have an excellent week.
DeleteThanks for sharing the beauty with us.
ReplyDeleteHena Tayeb: I am always happy to share beauty.
DeleteHome at 7:30 a.m., after all that, long day already by early morning. Two buses too. You are one determined strong person! And awesome and kind and caring.
ReplyDeleteStrayer: Thank you. I am glad to say that I am one of many. It was a long day but a good one.
DeletePhotos that touch the heart, Sue! Thank you. Have a wonderful week! Strayer's comment is spot on!
ReplyDeleteFundy Blue: Thank you. I don't feel special but am so very glad I found LL and did this walk. I hope to continue it for years to come.
DeleteIt's always a delight to see the beauty of the world through your eyes, thank you.
ReplyDeleteThank you also for hosting Sunday Selections.
messymimi: It is my pleasure - on both counts.
DeleteI love the flowers you find and have. So pretty.
ReplyDeleteMary Kirkland: It is a pretty time of year isn't it?
DeleteA delightful series of photos my friend, and you are an awesome lady.
ReplyDeleteDeniseinVA: Thank you - aren't we lucky that there is so much beauty in the world.
DeleteWe certainly are and I am very thankful :)
DeleteDeniseinVA: As I am.
DeleteRelaxing post with calm nature photos....
ReplyDeletei like that bird....they are so cute. Greetings..
Mbul Kecil: The birds are galahs - and many of our dawns are coloured to match them.
DeleteIt's a good addiction to have. I'll follow your example.
ReplyDeletegigi-hawaii: There are much worse addictions about aren't there. And this one is largely free.
DeleteBless you for undertaking all of that!
ReplyDeleteWe certainly enjoyed all of the beauty you shared.
Your chilly temps helped soothe our hot/humid morning.
A new week! May it be kind to us all.
Wally Jones: I am glad you enjoyed our very different temperatures and beauty. A kind week for the world would be lovely.
DeletePeaceful pictures of still waters and beautiful flowers. Many thanks
ReplyDeleteThe Blog Fodder: The pleasure is mine.
DeleteI think Blogger was wise when it put the photos in order. The first few are kind of dark and spare. They feel isolated. Then they move toward groups of people and flowers and sunshine. They have connections and are no longer isolated. All of the photos are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Janie Junebug: Thank you for giving me your opinion. I suspect that at the start of the walk many people did feel isolated. I hope that isolation diminished. Mind you I think that the early photos also have beauty.
DeleteWonderful photos and beautiful place.
ReplyDeletesnobe casamang: Welcome and thank you.
DeleteVery well done on doing this walk.
ReplyDeleteYour photographs were lovely to see and there is a nice lot of colour in your part of the world.
Blogger does seem to be messing about again!
I've had trouble leaving comments, so hopefully this one will come through okay.
Take good care.
All the best Jan
Lowcarb team member ~Jan: Thank you. This comment landed, and didn't even go to spam.
DeleteThe lake looks so serene and I love the spring flowers but I have a big soft spot for the galahs.
ReplyDeleteThere were cockatoos hard at work "pruning" the bottle brushes in my street this afternoon and I looked at them and said "you cheeky white vandals"
kylie: And vandals they certainly are. I have a weakness for them though, and like you for the galahs.
DeleteBeauty is beauty in whatever order. So true; thanks for sharing your beauty.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte (MotherOwl): Thank you. Later today (after himself gets up) we are going to another place of beauty. Many, many photos will follow.
DeleteHome before 7:30. Wow. Those pictures are wonderful, especially the first. It's breathtaking. Again, good on you for taking part.
ReplyDeleteSandra sandracox.blogspot.com
Sandra Cox: Needless to say himself was still in bed when I got home. And Batty had finished his breakfast and joined him.
DeleteThese have so much beauty, it doesn't matter in which order they are. And this is such an important cause.
ReplyDeleteCarola Bartz: Thank you. As you know it is a cause very dear to me.
DeleteThat is marvelous. Really. Very healing and lovely. And I'm frankly impressed with your endurance. Thank you friend. Aloha
ReplyDeleteCloudia: Thank you. Some days I am impressed at my endurance too.
DeleteBlogger certainly has a mind of its own when it comes to picture dispersal. How many folks took part in the walk?
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Sandra sandracox.blogspot.com
Sandra Cox: Well over a hundred people took part - which was both sad and lovely.
DeleteI can only imagine how exhausted you must have been after your walks. The photos are lovely, though - thank you for sharing the beauty. :-)
ReplyDeleteDiane Henders: I was very tired and it took days to recover. I am so glad I went though.
DeleteEnjoyed the photo's, but the early ones made me yawn, lol. I'm not an early riser. I walk typically in the late morning or afternoon. Take awhile to get my body loosened up enough, wouldn't be able to do that early morning walking. I think, blogger arranges photo's based on size, not positive, but that's what it seems to me. I've gotten so I upload one photo at a time and then type beneath it and load the next photo. Pretty flowers, ours are all gone and brown and ugly now. I've started cutting things back and doing the fall clean up. Which I hate, hate to loose the color flowers bring to the yard.
ReplyDeleteSandy: I am an early morning person. Himself would agree with you - and was still asleep when I returned. I wondered about the size issue - and may experiment further. Spring is definitely here and there is beauty (and weeds and work) every where I look.
DeleteMakes me want to clap my hands with joy at all the spring beauty all around,
ReplyDeleteRasmaSandra: I am endlessly grateful for beauty. In any season
DeleteYes, beauty is beauty wherever it is, and wherever you are.
ReplyDeleteLove and light to you.
Rawknrobyn: Love and light to you too. Always. Both things of beauty.
DeleteI am so glad you live in a place that is beautiful and a balm for your spirit.
ReplyDeletee: Thank you. I am grateful too.
DeleteHi, Sue! I hope all is well with you! ❤️
ReplyDeleteFundy Blue: I am fine, and thank you.
DeleteHere’s to all the people who, despite the darkness, create things of light. <3
ReplyDeleteneena maiya: And for those who see and appreciate that light.
