Sunday Selections #832

Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files. Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.

The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life.  Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks), and I have accepted the mantle.

The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent.  Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Sorry I still haven't succeeded in working out how to do a blog hop. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.

I usually run with a theme. Last week was difficult.  I was weak and wobbly and for much of the week I could barely stand.  However there was still colour and joy.  And, fingers crossed, I am improving again.  I owe several of you emails and will get to them.

Soon.  This will be another busy(ish) week.  I have medical and other appointments including one that I very much hope to complete.  If I do I will post about it here.

The week after I will board the chemo train again with a myriad of tests/scans and appointments before the infusion itself.

Here's to colour and joy.

I really like the micro garden that has established itself on the rock in our bird bath.   And now to vibrant splashes of spring colour with more coming out each day.

I hope we are all showered with colour this week.

  1. Laura Eno - Loads of color everywhere! It must bring joy to your heart. I love the micro garden growing in your birdbath.
I’m glad you’re feeling a little better this week. The next few months will have its ups and downs but it’s all progress. Take care of yourself and get as much rest as you’re able, along with drinking in the beauty and solace that surrounds you.
Giant hugs and much love sent your way.

    1. Laura Eno: Lots and lots of colour - and more coming out each day. Woo Hoo. I can (of course) see lots of work that needs doing but so far am resisting. Hugs and love gratefully received and reciprocated.

  2. I hope the chemo goes well. I have two other friends that have started chemo recently. One did 5 rounds of it and has completed it and is now cancer free. I hope you have a similar outcome. Beautiful flowers.

  9. I love seeing all the flowers and being reminded that it's springtime in your world! I am hoping the chemo does its work and that it's not too hard on you. My hubby starts "hard" chemo like that in another month. Fingers crossed for all my loved ones, that includes you dear friend.

  10. Daffodils were an early favorite of mine partly because they're so beautiful and partly because I hated winter, and they were a sign of spring. Of course, for you, summers are difficult, so maybe that makes it harder for you to enjoy them.

    1. Snowbrush: I really like daffodils, and spring more generally. You are right, summer is difficult but I refuse to let it taint the joy of spring.

    1. Andrew: The moss garden is thriving with is lovely to see. In a wobble round the garden a little while ago I spotted some tulip bulbs. Woo Hoo.

  12. I love the moss garden and all your daffodils, though I am glad I can't smell those through my screen.I wracked my brain at least five minutes before I remembered what those gorgeous purple Hyacinths were called! I see in a comment above there is no cure, only management, and that makes me sad, but at least management is something.

    1. River: My MS can't be cured either. Hopefully I will continue to be able to manage both of them for some time yet. The hyacinths would definitely wreak havoc on your synapses.

  16. Hi EC - so good to see this ... especially the upbeatness of it - lots of colour, lots of hope, comfort understanding as life goes on: wobble or just a touch of it ... enjoy the coming bulbs ... Spring is beautiful. Management seems a wise approach ... wishing you once again an easier week - with thoughts - Hilary

  17. So many pretty flowers!
How long has the birdbath garden been growing? Decades i suspect. Its very cool

    1. kylie: I am not sure how long the birdbath garden has been growing. A while, but not decades. Yet. And interestingly the birds leave that garden alone while they happily shred and behead blooms in the 'other gardens'.

  18. The flowers are gorgeous, Sue, and no doubt are providing a bright interlude in a dark storm for you. Good luck as you go forward with these dreadful treatments. Miriam and I will be thinking of you.

  19. Dear EC
Some beautiful, uplifting images of Spring for us to enjoy! Even in the darkest times, we can find moments of beauty and joy (and you are excellent at doing that!). Keep on keeping on and know that we are with you in spirit, cheering you on. I hope all goes as well as it possibly can.
    Best wishes (and virtual hugs)
    Ellie

  21. I admire your perseverance and your ability to notice beauty and joy even during challenging times. The little micro garden on the bird bath rock is a perfect reminder that life continues to grow and surprise us, often in the smallest places. Your focus on colour and hope is uplifting, and it’s encouraging to see your spirit remaining attentive to the gifts around you. I’d be glad if you also take a moment to read some of my latest posts.
