Sunday Selections #413

Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files.

The meme is now continued by River at Drifting through life.  The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent.  Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to River.  River is taking a well-earned self care break.  She will be missed, but I will keep the meme warm for her.

Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.

Like River I usually run with a theme.  I mentionedwhinged last week that it has been hot.  That heat has continued.  Since the week before Christmas our daily maximums have all been over 30C and most have been well over 35C.  Bleah.

The birds have also been suffering.

Seeing them with their wings held away from their bodies, and panting distresses me.  We put out water (though I have only seen the pigeons drink it) and apples for the moisture. Some of them revel in the sprinkler in the times we are able to turn them on.
Jazz has suffered as well.  Hopefully by the time this post goes up the heat-wave which has been hitting much of Eastern Australia has broken.  Thankfully, late yesterday afternoon we got some relief.  And some very welcome rain.

The sunsets have been hot too.  As I took these photos it was still over 34C (94F).

These next shots (taken not long after dawn) look cool - but they lie.  It was already hot, and got hotter.  I liked the clouds just the same.

Apart from dragging hoses/sprinklers around the garden has pretty much been left to its own devices.  It doesn't seem to mind for which I am grateful.  The weeds are thriving of course.
