This
meme was started by Delores a long time ago. When she left us briefly
we realised that the meme was too much fun to let go, and now
Words for Wednesday is provided by a number of people and has become a
movable feast. I am very, very sad (and angry) to write that a troll
has led Delores to leave us again. She will be missed
and I hope her meme continues.
Essentially
the aim is to encourage us to write. Each week we are given a choice
of prompts: which can be words, phrases, music or an image. What we
do with those prompts is up to us: a short story, prose, a song, a
poem, or treating them with ignore... We can use some or all of the
prompts.
Some
of us put our creation in comments on the post, and others post on
their own blog. I would really like it if as many people as possible
joined into this fun meme, which includes cheering on the other participants. If you are posting on your own blog - let me know so that I, and other participants, can come along and applaud.
The
prompts will be here this month (Margaret Adamson and her friends were
to provide them, but she is travelling so we have swopped).
This week's prompts are two phrases and a very short story for you to expand (or not):
You can't judge a book by its cover;
And/or
The squeaky wheel gets the grease
And/or
For Sale.
Wedding Dress.
Never worn.
Have fun. We have a house guest arriving in a few hours who will be with us until Sunday afternoon. I will be largely away from the computer but hope to visit your blogs in the early morning before the rest of the household surfaces.
Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files.
Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.
The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life.
Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks), and I have accepted the mantle.
The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent. Post
some
photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me.
Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.
I usually run with a theme. This week I am reverting to type and featuring some of the birds who are regular visitors here.
Susan Kane adores the long-beaked corellas so these beauties are for her.
Some of the sulphur-crested cockatoosvandals will now eat from the bucket we take the seed out in.
The rainbow lorikeets used to be rare visitors to my city. Some of them have obviously moved here (or escaped captivity) and are doing very well indeed.
The Spotted Turtle-doves were introduced to Australia over a hundred years ago (for food?) and have settled in well, particularly in the coastal areas (which we are not) of Eastern Australia.
The Crimson Rosellas are yet another bird who welcomes the seed bucket.
The Eastern Rosellas are smaller (and shyer) than the Crimson Rosellas. We love them.
I am finishing up with a pair of King Parrots who were looking through the kitchen window at us. They start on the front veranda and, if they feel neglected, come round the back and make their presence felt.
I showed you some of the hundreds of photos I took at these delectable gardens a few weeks ago in this post. I have finally got off my fundament and chosen some more to share.
There will be a myriad of photos and not a lot in the way of text. I think these gardens speak (loudly) for themselves.
It is a long walk, a tiring walk and more than worth while.
So, as I so often say, come wander with me.
There was a river of white primulas under some trees, and I smiled to see the purple interlopers.
My own garden is much less ordered (which is the way I like it) but I am beyond impressed at the effort and display. I particularly like the underplantings to set off the tulips.

I usually run with a theme. This week I am continuing to revel in Spring.
This week from our gardenjungle. The garden is fed with blood, sweat and tears (mine) but by the time things bloom the effort is largely forgotten.
These tulips were short-lived. The sulphur crested vandals beheaded and shredded all of them the day I took this photo. They have (fingers crossed) largely stopped their garden depreciations now and I may remove the wire from the most affected garden bed. Soon. Ish.
They haven't reformed though, but merely shifted their focus as the next two images reveal.
The bees (native and otherwise) enjoy the garden too. This poppy was poking its head out through the cockie protection wire - and for a change wasn't snipped off by the vandals.
There is more coming out every day. Each garden wander is a voyage of discovery. The banksia roses, the snowball tree and the lilacs are close to bloom. Woo Hoo.
Finishing off with a Jazz update. He is mostly doing pretty well now (much to the vet's surprise) Which is lovely. Each afternoon he retires to the wardrobe for an afternoon nap (ensuring a patina of black fur on everything we wear). I have discovered that if I purr at the wardrobe as I go past, the wardrobe purrs back. Every home should have a purring wardrobe.
I haven't forgotten Tulip Top Gardens, but am still going through the photos. Next week I hope to post more.
