Words for Wednesday 17/5/2023

This meme was started by Delores a long time ago.  Computer issues led her to bow out for a while.  The meme was too much fun to let go, and now Words for Wednesday is provided by a number of people and has become a movable feast.
Essentially the aim is to encourage us to write.  Each week we are given a choice of prompts: which can be words, phrases, music or an image.   What we do with those prompts is up to us:  a short story, prose, a song, a poem, or treating them with ignore...  We can use some or all of the prompts, and mixing and matching is encouraged.

Some of us put our creation in comments on the post, and others post on their own blog.  I would really like it if as many people as possible joined into this fun meme, which includes cheering on the other participants.  If you are posting on your own blog - let me know so that I, and other participants, can come along and applaud.  And huge thanks to those of you who come back, sometimes time after time to cheer other contributors on.

The prompts will be here this month, but they are being provided by David M. Gascoigne.

This week's prompts are:

  • Wine
  • Oneself
  • Once
  • Approaching
  • Admission
  • Kidding

and/or

  • Face
  • Life
  • Accept
  • Sunny
  • Aches
  • Dread
 Have fun.

Sunday Selections #628

Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files.

Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.

The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life.  Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks), and I have accepted the mantle.

The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent.  Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.

I usually run with a theme. This week is a bit of a hotch potch.  I have again been out just after first light.  Winter is definitely on its way.

Yes, that is a dusting of snow on the Brindabellas which we can see from the veranda. The wind that day was definitely coming across snow.

And in the garden there was also evidence of the coming chilly months.

The anemone bulbs (which are coming up months too early) had a delicate tracing of frost.

The next photo comes from one of our local shopping centres. For months now (yay) they have had a community library.  A library where people can pick up or drop off books. Of course I do both.  People in my city like everywhere else are doing it tough.  So the community library has been joined by a community pantry - again where people can pick up or drop off goods. I think both are wonderful additions.

I am going to finish with photos of Batty and Odie.  Batty still has come healing to do, and is reluctant to jump.  He and Odie are mostly getting on quite well, though Batty is reluctant to play still and shrieks for assistance if Odie chases him. They do curl up together though. Despite being full brothers they look quite different. Batty is the black beauty and has troubles with his weight (he LOVES his food).

I hope you can all find or give assistance this week.  And a very happy Mothers' Day to those celebrating today.

I usually run with a theme. This week has been busy for a change (not). My outings have been practical, duty driven or related to medical issues. However, yesterday morning I was delighted to catch a soft and gentle dawn (as I headed outside with the kitty litter).

The colours muted as I watched, but it still filled me with joy.

I hope you find beauty in your week too.
