Corellas Grooming Part 2.

A little while ago I put up a short video of corellas grooming.  Unfortunately, not everyone could view it.  Yesterday afternoon what I assume were the same pair came and assumed the position on the same tree branch.  This time we only took still shots.

Aren't we lucky?

  1. Glad I haven't got lice!

    Beak dexterity is impressive though.

  2. Cat Drawings: They are an enchantment. Visitors most days, and always welcome.

J Cosmo Newbery: I hadn't thought about lice as they are strict vegetarians but you could well be right. You are certainly right about the dexterity. And the gentle way they can (if they so chose) use quite impressive weaponry.

  9. Dear EC,
Like DJan, I'll never see these birds in person, but oh, the delight of seeing those photographs. How dextrous they are with their beaks. How gentle. And how graceful and beautiful.

Thank you for sharing. You are indeed "lucky."

    Peace.

  11. Ron Dudley: Corellas visit most days now, but this behaviour is something that brings us to the window every time.

mybabyjohn/Delores: I am not certain whether it is an adult pair or a parent and child but I agree - very sweet indeed.

Kim @ Stuff: We do know just how lucky we are.

    DJan: Thank you.

    Karen: They are lovely indeed.

Denise: They were just so careful of each other.

Mary K. Mennenga: It is indeed a gift that they visit so often.

Dee Ready: Something we could watch for hours and never get tired. Birds ARE something we watch for hours ....

Windsmoke: As I said, I don't know whether the are a pair or an adult and child, but they are beautiful to watch.

  13. What a show! Who needs television when you've got such a performance at hand?

  14. Friko: Such a wonderful thing to watch from our lounge room.

daisfae: I never really acquired the television habit, and you are right these performances leave most television programs in the dust.

  17. Hi EC,

We just don't get birds like that in the UK - apart from in a zoo.

    Great photos.

    :0)

River: They are lovely aren't they, and yes, we know how lucky we are.

    Cathy Oliffe-Webster: Never ending joy.

Ann O'Dyne: The eating of a timber house doesn't surprise me - fortunately ours isn't so we can welcome them. And we do.

  26. I'll add my cries of "beautiful!" and "lucky!" to the chorus. I saw a mated pair of tropical birds in a New Orleans aquarium once - not sure if they were parrots or some other large bird of that sort (not a bird expert here!) but the sign said they were of advanced age. They were perched atop a branch oblivious to all the human milling about below - grooming and nuzzling each other in perfect contentment. Who said birds have no feelings? These pairs can teach us humans quite a bit it seems...

  27. Two Tigers: I am not at all certain whether they are a pair or whether it is a parent child relationship. Anthromorphism or not, I think that their affection for each other is obvious. And yes, we could learn a lesson or three.

  28. Sue that would have been gorgeous to witness again, love what you have captured.

  29. Gemma: It was magical both times. I have had a thought about why I am unable to comment at your place and will go over and test it out shortly.

  30. So very beautiful and obviously very much at home.

  31. OH, you are so lucky! What lovely shots.

  32. You're very lucky indeed, and so are we for having you to share these amazing sights with us! I still can't believe I know someone who can look out her window and see such amazing, extraordinary critters like this (and ditto for the flowers, too)!

  33. Oh, they are beautiful. Thanks for the photos!

  34. Manderley: Lovely to see you here. They do know that they are welcome.

    LadyFi: Thank you.

Laloofah: It is a never ending joy. One of my brothers (who lives less than 20 kilometres away) never sees corellas. So yes, we know just how privileged we are.

nouvelles coleurs - vienna atelier: Thank you.

Becky: They are beautiful aren't they?

Kim @ Stuff: A gift we really really appreciate.

  35. Susan Kane: I have just been watching them again. I never tire of it, and spend much of each day looking out the window.

  42. I am so ignorant of birds that it's a little embarrassing, but I always wondered why some people are so fascinated by them and others aren't.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Snowbrush: I am not sure where the avian obsession started, but it does seem to be huge; in this household and the blogosphere more generally. It sometimes needs delicate juggling with the cats though.

  44. Amazingly Beautiful.

    Do you live in Heaven?

    Xx Happy Sunday.
