Sunday Selections #511

Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files.

Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.

The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life.  Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks), and I have accepted the mantle.

The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent.  Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.

I usually run with a theme.   Last week I said we had been down the lake for a much needed kangaroo fix (and I need another) so that is where I am starting.

He is a big and muscle bound boy isn't he?

It was a hot day and at first glance there were no roos to be seen.  A second look found them reclining at their ease in the green undergrowth.

There is not a lot blooming in our garden at the moment - it seems to be in a hiatus between the seasons.  Just the same it is a green and peaceful haven.

The poppies are nearly done, but I am watching those seed pods and will harvest them when they are ripe.

I am very excited to see tomatoes on several of our tomato plants.  They taste soooo much better than the store bought varieties.

And now to the apologies.  I am tired, overwrought and in pain.  The holiday season is not improving my mood.  If I am less diligent than usual in visiting your blogs or less enthusiastic please accept my apologies.  Totally truthfully - it is not you, but me.

I hope you all find peaceful havens this week.

  3. Pains come with the territory. Better to have a little pain and be above ground than the alternative.

How close can you get to wild kangaroos to take pictures?

    1. Mike: You are probably right but at the moment the benefits of being above ground are a bit moot.
These kangaroos are moderately happy to have people within six feet of so of them. They knew we were there but didn't bother to get up.

  4. I'm sorry to learn of you're not in the "best of places" at present, EC. Try to take it easy as much as you are able..try to keep cool. There are enough pressures around at present without the Festive Season adding to them...they're coming from every angle.

I hope you're feeling much better as each day progresses during the coming week. For now, the temps have dropped considerable here (thank goodness) because we've been receiving some wonderful, welcome very heavy rain.

Please take good care...cuddles to Jazz :)

I hope that we get some rain - it is forecast here for later in the week but not at the deluge level that northern NSW and your state are receiving.

Your lush green photos are sure a sight for sore eyes. Here, everything is grey and gloomy. No green leaves left and the trees are totally bear, not even snow on the grown to lighten things up. The only good news is that our city got up grades from Orange code to the Yellow code for covid-19 so we are allowed to visit family without being arrested.
Seeing the roos is also a nice treat. Thanks...

Always love the roos. Muscle Boy looks like he's asking if you want a piece of him in a dare.
I hope the vandals leave your tomatoes alone! Yes, homegrown tastes sooo much better than from the store. In fact, I've given up on tomatoes completely in the last few years. Nothing like biting into waxy-tasting red balls to turn me away from them. Same with peaches.

    1. Karen: Thank you. Believe me there are some plants for which my thumb is decidedly black. Plants which I love but which I no longer attempt to grow.

    1. Magic Love Crow: This too will pass. There are a lot of people in pain (you included), and many of their pain is much more significant than mine.
      Huge hugs to you.

  62. I am sorry to hear that you are having a hard time, truly sorry, not that it helps. The only thing I can suggest is that you prioritise yourself (unless prioritising others helps, which it sometimes can). Life can be a struggle, but at other times less so.

  64. "If I am less diligent than usual in visiting your blogs or less enthusiastic please accept my apologies. Totally truthfully - it is not you, but me."

I have been visiting few blogs of late, but am trying to get caught up with them now. Part of the reason I'm behind is that I find that I'm slowed by the fact that I am having difficulty writing posts. For instance, I spent 20-30 hours on the post that you just commented on (thank you), yet it is awfully short. I always took my ability to write well for granted, yet I'm now finding it hard to write at all.

When you refer to the season as a reason for not visiting blogs as much of late, do you mean that the season is taking a lot of your time or rather that it bogs you down emotionally?

    1. Snowbrush: MS loves the summer. I struggle in it. I also struggle with the Christmas season on a number of fronts. So, essentially the season is taking its toll physically AND emotionally.
