Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files.
Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.
The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life. Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks), and I have accepted the mantle.
The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent. Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.
I usually run with a theme. This week just for a change (not) I am going back to the sadly neglected garden. I have been focusing on the kittens and walking is challenging at the moment so weeding is out of the question and the weeds are going gang-busters. Just the same there is still beauty there.
The bud on the cactus is one I hope not to miss. They come out at night and only last a day and sadly one did bloom while I wasn't looking last week.
I welcome rainbows anywhere I see them - which includes on the carpet.
The kittens are doing a little better this week. Odie is not sneezing nearly as much and Batty's patellas are not dislocating quite as frequently. Just the same as I prepare this post I am waiting for the vet to ring. The vet rang (nearly eleven hours later). She is happy with Batty's progress. Continue the medication (we will have to pick up a new script) and bring him back for an assessment next Friday. Fingers crossed.
I hope you find beauty in your week(s) too.
Oh that cactus just blooming for one day. How extraordinary. I only have what they call a Christmas Cactus which blooms, oh I forget when. :D
ReplyDeleteThe wee lads are adorable curled up like that. I do hope you ahve good news. And soon.

WWW
Wisewebwoman: This cactus has spectacular blooms. They are bigger than my hand when opened and have a delicate scent. I really, really hope I don't miss the next one. Fingers remain tightly crossed on the kitten front.
DeleteA little wild in the garden is all right. Still beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGlad the kittens are doing better!
Alex J. Cavanaugh: Our garden is always a little wild - at the moment it is over run. I am glad to see that some of the we planted have fought through the weeds.
DeleteGood to know the kitties are doing better this week. Thank you also or sharing these beautiful flowers, and that happy little rainbow :) Great selection!
ReplyDeleteDeniseinVA: Thank you. Hooray for rainbows.
DeleteI hope he grows into his knees, that the ligaments tighten up. Your garden is always so beautiful. Do some of the weeds have pretty flowers? They do here. I love dandelions, for instance, but my neighbors do not.
ReplyDeleteStrayer: I hope that he grows into his knees too. And that his hips and his hock improve. Some weeds do have lovely flowers. And soooooo many seeds.
DeleteThanks for showing all the beautiful flowers. We won't look at the weeds. All I see here outdoors is white snow. My Christmas cacti are almost finished blooming but my Hoya house plant is not blooming yet.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the cats are improving and lets hope it will continue.
Enjoy the new week.
Hugs,
Julia
Julia: Our Christmas cacti have almost finished blooming too. The hoya has just started and delights me. I do hope the kittens continue to improve but won't hold my breath (blue is not my colour).
DeleteThe details of the flowers are intricate and beautiful, and the colors are lovely--so vibrant and full of life. I'm sorry walking is a challenge. I ask the universe to send good vibrations to you.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Janie Junebug: Thank you - on both counts.
DeleteI'm so glad that Batty and Odie are both feeling at least a bit better. Crossing my fingers for that to continue.
ReplyDeleteYou have such wonderful variety in your garden! I love your efforts with all the photos you bring to us each week. It's much appreciated.
Take good care of yourself as you do for everyone else. Hugs to you always.
River Fairchild: Thank you so much. So many of my posts are much the same that I feel a bit guilty. Hugs received and reciprocated.
DeleteSo beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSandi: Thank you.
DeleteHappy rainbows and hopefully kittens on the mend. I like all your flowers and wonder what those hairy ones are called. Many of the others I know, as indoor plants ;)
ReplyDeleteCharlotte (MotherOwl): I am not good with indoor plants. I am glad that these thrive (despite neglect) outside. The hairy plants are Albizia julibrissin, the Persian silk tree, aka the Japanese silk tree, pink silk tree, or mimosa tree. They do well in my city but are prone to attacks from borers.
DeleteFingers crossed on the furry front. Batty has had his medication with no drama this morning and is playing. Definitely a good sign.
So many cute little photos to remind us of the beauty of small things in life
ReplyDeleteroentare: Thank you. The little things are huge in my life.
DeleteMy thoughts are with Odie and Batty. I hope so much that their progress continues along the path toward good health...the dear little pets.
ReplyDeleteI hope, too, you're feeling much better EC..and you have a far better week ahead...take care...hugs. :)
Anonymous: Thank you. We are hoping that Odie and Batty continue to improve too. So much.
DeleteThat was me, Lee, EC. Google/blogger is playing silly games again making me "Anonymous".
DeleteMay the rainbow prove to be a harbinger of a new week that is joyful in every way.
ReplyDeleteSean Jeating: What a lovely wish. Thank you.
DeleteI hope this is a good week for Odie and Batty and you, EC. Take care.
ReplyDeleteMarie Smith: We hope so too. Thank you.
DeleteI am very pleased to hear your positive kitten news. They look so happy and relaxed with each other. You have some prismatic glass somewhere to make that rainbow?
ReplyDeleteAndrew: Apart from vet trips (inflicted on them by us) I don't think they have ever been apart. They are totally relaxed together, and getting happier with us by the day. The light shines through a display cabinet onto the carpet and occasionally gives us rainbows.
DeleteWow! Gini and I absolutely love your stunning flowers! Makes me feel very guilty when I look out at our brown yard.
ReplyDeleteWe hope your new week will be filled with beauty and no pain.
Wally Jones: Gardens and guilt go together. Sadly. I certainly feel it when I look at ours. Thank you for those wonderful wishes. I hope that you and Gini have a wonderful week outside.
DeleteDear EC
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely that the beauty is still there to be seen, despite things not going so well in other areas. I am pleased that the kittens are sort of OK. I keep thinking about you and them...
Rainbows are a joy wherever they can be seen.
Best wishes
Ellie
Ellie Foster: Any day is made better by a rainbow - even an artificial one. Thank you. The kittens have a way to go yet, but are improving.
DeleteA great deal of beauty indeed, EC. What a lovely selection of flowers! As always, I love the hoya, and the lilies are stunning...
ReplyDeleteSo pleased to hear that the kittens are making progress - fingers crossed once again that they continue to do so. I hope your weather isn't unbearably hot, and that you are able to spend some time outdoors.
Cheers, Alexia
DeleteAlexia: Thank you for identifying yourself. Our weather is all over the shop. Some days are hot, some are not. We love that hoya too and am very glad that we bought it from a woman who was tired of 'waiting for it to flower'. Definitely fingers crossed on the kitten front.
DeleteI recognize a few mimosa flowers.
ReplyDeleteMike: I haven't ever heard them called mimosa here.
DeleteA lovely bloom up there like a duster. And twice!
ReplyDeleteJoanne Noragon: I struggle with moderation. The 'duster bloom' is from the silk tree. The birds love it, and so do we.
DeleteI LOVE the little rainbow :) All your flowers are beautiful, my Hoya isn't flowering, I think I give it too much water. I've been hoping the kitties are improving and if Batty can grow into his knees, that will be a good thing.
ReplyDeleteRiver: We hope that the kittens continue to improve too. So much. Batty's knees continue to dislocate, but not as often. Never would be good. I loved that rainbow too. One of our hoyas is flowering prolifically. The other is not.
DeleteGood news about Batty and Odie. It will be nice when they are both completely well.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers in your garden are gorgeous. I don't see any weeds. Think of it this way. The weeds are keeping the soil intact. The weeds hold much needed moisture. I'm always looking for the bright side of gardening, even when there is so much work, it almost becomes overwhelming.
Stay safe and take care of YOU and your babies, please.
Bleubeard and Elizabeth: Thank you. It seems that Batty's issues will have to be managed rather than cured. Hopefully we can. This morning he is moving better - and HUNGRY. Fingers crossed.
DeleteAnd yes, the needs of the garden do feel a bit overwhelming at the moment. I am glad that there is still beauty to remind me why I do it.
Well, at least the flowers are blooming, the light is making a rainbow on your carpet, and the cats are a bit better. Hugs from the northern hemisphere.....
ReplyDeleteBill: Thank you. Hugs received and reciprocated.
DeleteHi EC - so pleased the kitties are doing better and that your life will get easier soonish. The plants and blooms are amazing ... the only one I don't know is the first one ... ah I see it's a Hoya ... just gorgeous to have here on a grey morn. Cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteHilary Melton-Butcher: Thank you. That hoya is a gem isn't it? It flowers prolifically and brightens my days. Fingers remain crossed for Batty, for Odie and for me.
ReplyDeleteFeliz domingo.
VENTANA DE FOTO: Thank you. Our cats/kittens all have to be kept inside now. I am not sure that these kittens have ever been outside (except in carry cases on their way somewhere). Have a wonderful weekend - and week.
DeleteHi Sue:
ReplyDeleteWe are in Ottawa visiting family so I am skipping comments this weekend. Grandchildren and a dog who wants to go for a walk in the snow are demanding my attention!
David M. Gascoigne: Thank you for leaving a comment explaining why you are not commenting. Have a wonderful time with your family..
DeleteIt is wonderful seeing the blossoms. We have rain spitting on our snow cover. sigh.
ReplyDeleteJenn Jilks: Thank you. I am still amazed at how much snow you get - it is a very rare treat here and never sticks.
DeleteYour lilies are so beautiful, simply gorgeous! I hope your cats continue to mend.
ReplyDeletegigi-hawaii: We have LOTS of lilies and delight in them.
DeleteSuch beautiful blooms. And so many - Thank you...
ReplyDeletegrams ramblings: Welcome and thank you. Our garden is big - and needs big work too.
DeleteLove all the blooms and glad to hear the cats are so much better. That is certainly a load off you both. Wishing you a great week!
ReplyDeletee: Thank you. The kittens are better but not yet out of the woods. Fingers and toes remain crossed. I hope you and Lukas have a healthy happy week.
DeleteYour garden is beautiful! I understand the frustration of having to simply watch the weeds grow, but that's the wonderful thing about lilies - they're tough and unconcerned by weeds. Here's hoping you'll soon feel well enough to get around a bit more.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear the kitties are doing better, and thank you for the photo. They're adorable!
Diane Henders: Some of the lilies have been swamped by the weeds - which says something about how prolific they are. I do hope I can get back into the garden soon, not least because I often find the ripping and tearing of weeding remarkably therapeutic.
DeleteThe kittens look super cute snuggled up together don't they?
You have a wonderful garden, good luck catching the cactus blooms.
ReplyDeleteSometimes kittens, like children, simply need to outgrow some of their tendency toward childhood ailments. I hope that's the case with these two precious cuties.
My selections are over here.
messymimi: Thank you. I do hope the kittens grow out of these ailments. And soon. I looked at the cactus bud(s) again this morning. I am determined not to let these get away. I have seen (and enjoyed) your Sunday Selections.
DeleteYou never fail to bring us beauty even when you can't walk very well. Thank you. I love the kittens together. I hope all will feel better real soon.
ReplyDeleteGlenda Beall: Thank you. My search for beauty is an addiction - one I am glad to feed.
DeleteEvery year Hubs gives me a Swarovski crystal snowflake for Christmas. To date there are over 20 hanging in the windows across the sunroom. The rainbow display is spectacular on a sunny day. Always makes me smile. :)
ReplyDeleteJuli: That sounds truly magical - and would make me smile too.
DeleteYour garden is a work of beauty and wonderful colors. The weeds just have to be dealt with at a later date - don't worry about the delay, they will still be there :). I hope your kitties continue to be on the mend and you don't have to worry so much about them.
ReplyDeleteCarola Bartz: You are right the weeds will still be there. It is there seeds I worry about (and it may be too late).
DeleteHi, Sue! Your flowers are lovely. Who cares if the garden has a few weeds. I'm glad to hear that your kitties are improving. They sure look cute together. I don't know why walking is a challenge for you right now, but I hope you improve very soon! Have a great week, and hugs to you!
ReplyDeleteFundy Blue: Thank you. MS is the reason for my current challenges, which will (I hope) diminish as summer finishes.
DeleteThank you, thank you a thousand times over, seeing all your lovely flowers and not a single sight of that white stuff that keeps piling up at my place and now they say, a blast of a true frozen tundra is coming soon. Oh well, my Peacock is still with us too, which is truly a joyful critter and of course he doesn't venture outside too often, but we do have sun shining in for him, just not often enough. He's one tough bird that's for sure! Take care and enjoy your wonderful world around you!
ReplyDelete21 Wits: I am thrilled that your peacock is still with you, and hope that the blast from the frozen tundra is milder than expected - and short lived.
DeleteI went bowling yesterday and then to a friend's house, so I missed coming here. I am so happy to hear the kitties are doing better, and thank you so much for all the wonderful flowers! :-)
ReplyDeleteDJan: I hope you had a wonderful day away from screens - and thank you.
DeleteThere certainly is beauty in your post with such an array of colorful plants. There were several days of super cold weather in Nashville in late December, much colder than usual. Driving around I see many evergreen shrubs that are brown, dead maybe, it is sad. I won’t know until spring if any of my trees were hit. Good news about the health of your kittens, I hope they keep getting better.
ReplyDeleteI just realized that it my comment above came under anonymous for some reason. The comment was mine, Vagabonde.
ReplyDeleteVagabonde: Thank you for identifying yourself. Blogger often seems to try hard to make us anonymous. I hope your trees survived the cold snap. I really hope it.
DeleteI hope the kitty's continue t do better. The flowers are lovely.
ReplyDeleteMary Kirkland: Thank you.
DeleteSo much pretty! and in so many shades of pink :)
ReplyDeleteI especially like the hoya. We had one that grew through the fence from the neighbours and flowered profusely on our side. It was wonderful but then there were new owners and they ripped the fence down and the hoya with it.
kylie: I rescued this comment from the spam jail. I would have mourned to see that hoya go.
DeleteOh, I thought I must have forgotten to click publish 🙂
Deletekylie: You clicked and blogger hid it. Sigh.
DeleteBuon martedi
ReplyDeleteGiancarlo: Thank you - and to you.
Deleteso much pretty and so many shades of pink!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a good week
kylie: Thank you. There is indeed a lot of pink in the garden at the moment.
DeleteYour garden is filled with such beauty and wonder. Here's hoping today is a good day for you and the kits. Hugs
ReplyDeleteSandra Cox: Thank you. And many thanks for the beautiful card that landed in my inbox this morning.
DeleteGreat to see you on my blog! Loved the comment about the old fire engines x
ReplyDeletelostinimaginaryworlds: Of course I visited - it is lovely to see that you are writing again. I do miss our old 'fire engine red' firetrucks.
DeleteThose blooms are beyond beautiful. I hope you can catch the cactus when it blooms. LOVE the picture of Odie and Batty! They are getting big. And I have a rainbow like that on my front hall wall on sunny days - our front door has bevelled glass and it is always a little thrilling to see the colours spread out on the wall :) Wishing you a week of beautiful things, dear friend. I know that if they are there you will find them.
ReplyDeletejenny_o: Those internal rainbows are a delight aren't they? The cactus bud is swelling but I am keeping a close eye on it. I would be most upset if I missed this one too. A busy and stressful day ahead but yes, I will be looking out for beauty.
DeleteLovely flowers and so many colors. I am so happy to hear about Batty and hope he continues doing well. I hope you are having a good new week,
ReplyDeleteRasmaSandra: Thank you. We are still worried about Batty. His shoulder seems to be involved now. Back to the vet tomorrow.
DeleteYour flowers are lovely and how nice to see that rainbow on your carpet :)
ReplyDeleteI do hope the kitty's continue to do better, it is very worrying.
Hoping your next visit to the vet will be more encouraging.
All the best Jan.
Lowcarb team member ~Jan: Thank you. The next vet visit is tomorrow and I do hope she has some answers. The issues are spreading.
DeleteI'm so glad that kitties are doing better, I hope by now a whole heap better. Your flowers are spectacular as usual. Loved the lilies especially. Rainbows in unexpected places are even better than the ones in the sky - just lovely.
ReplyDeleteNilanjana Bose: Rainbows are ALWAYS welcome. Sadly Batty is stuck in the one step forward, two steps back dance. I hope tomorrow's vet visit gives us some answers (and hope).
DeleteGorgeous photos! Am glad that kittens are improving; they are CUTE.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous: They are cute. Sadly we are still in the one step forward/one step back dance.
Deleteyour flower pictures are fantastic. Hope your kitties become well. Doctoring sick pets is no fun. They hurt and you hurt.
ReplyDeleteThe Blog Fodder: Thank you. You are so right about doctoring the four legged family members. My heart strings have been yanked. Hard.
