Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files. Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.
The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life. Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks), and I have accepted the mantle.
The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent. Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.
I usually run with a theme. Goodness I lead an exciting life (not). This week I am taking you back to my general practioner's waiting room (and I wish that the other medicos I see had such interesting spots to wait, wait and wait some more, and to the shopping centre around it.
Starting with some more close-ups from that fascinating wallpaper. Every time I go I see more things in it.
And then to the shopping centre itself. As well as the sheep outside the centre which I have showed you before, there are more sculptures in it.
I am not sure whether this is a dingo or a sheep dog, but goodness it looks fierce.
And for no apparent reason there is a beetle watching them from the steps.
I hope you all have a wonderful week.
Like the one of the zebra. Very unique.
ReplyDeleteHaddock: All of the creatures and plants depicted in the wallpaper are unique. And fascinating.
DeleteHi EC - that wallpaper is beautiful isn't it ... while the dingo (I think) does look menacing; the sheep is a little odd - but I enjoy the beetle - as you say ... life is in our heads and so is always interesting ... cheers and I do hope things are being solved a little for you - Hilary
ReplyDeleteHilary Melton-Butcher: I really, really like the wallpaper. I suspect you are right and it is a dingo, and definitely threatening. I sometimes think I live in my head too often - but it certainly isn't dull there.
DeleteI love that wallpaper! I would wish for others to wait for the doctor in such a room. Loving all the sculptures you are sharing. Loving all these photos! You have a wonderful week too and thank you so much for all the smiles you bring.
ReplyDeleteDeniseinVA: I am glad that I am not alone in delighting in that wallpaper. Thank you - and I am very happy to spread smiles.
DeleteQuite the mix of animals!
ReplyDeleteAlex J. Cavanaugh: Definitely - some fanciful and some less so.
DeleteI would love to have a wall covered in that wall paper! The dingo with the glowing green eyes is not an animal I want to meet. Let's hope its a lookalike sheep dog and not abou to attack the sheep from behind while the beetle watches like its a TV thriller.
ReplyDeleteStrayer: I wondered whether the beetle was there to clean up after the dingo attacked? Yes, I know, I have a sick mind.
DeleteThe wallpaper is great. The animals wearing fur coats are interesting. I'd like to have a wall with that wallpaper--perhaps in my bedroom or even better, my family room. A rug with that pattern might be nice, too.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Janie Junebug: I have found myself thinking that the wallpaper would make an excellent blanket to snuggle into. And hooray for another vote in its favour.
DeleteI love that wallpaper too. And that is one fierce looking animal, no matter the species. Thank you for the wonderful pictures to admire and enjoy.
ReplyDeleteDJan: We were left in no doubt about top dog (or dingo) in that scenario were we?
DeleteThat is incredible wallpaper! Attending kiddies would love investigating it, too.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're doing well, EC...take very good care. May the coming week treat you most kindly. My best thoughts and wishes go your way. :)
Lee: I really, really like that wallpaper - and yes I have seen children enjoying it too. I am still struggling but Batty at least is mostly doing better - though he really doesn't like his inhaler.
DeleteHang in there, EC...stay strong. You're in my thoughts...cuddles to dear Batty and Odie. :)
DeleteLee: Thank you.
DeleteI really like the beetle.
ReplyDeleteroentare: There were two of them (that I saw) and I thought they were well done.
DeleteI saw this on the zebra - MOOOI. "Moooi is a Dutch furniture, interior, and lighting modern design company."
ReplyDeleteThe beetle looks like it's straight from Jurassic Park.
Mike: I wonder whether that is the company that makes the wall paper. I will investigate. I read it as moo - and smiled at the zebra in his plaid jacket mooing. Beetles haven't changed much have they?
DeleteMike: THANK YOU. That is indeed the company that makes the wallpaper - and some other interesting ones too.
DeleteSome folks are so talented. I have found recently that the more you look for artistic beauty, the more you will find it. Everywhere!
ReplyDeleteColoring Outside the Lines: I agree. Beauty is everywhere - for which I am so very, very grateful.
DeleteHaha! That beetle is funny, in a “what am I doing here?”sort of way. The dingo/dog reminds me of a Doberman.
ReplyDeleteI love that wallpaper! I studied it the last time you posted it and I don’t remember seeing any of these before. They are wonderful and have the fantasy element making them just off the edge of the realism cliff. Thank you for always finding things to share with us, even in the midst of your boredom. Definitely the right place to wait, at least.
Hugs to you and I hope your week is rather problem free and tranquil.
River Fairchild
River Fairchild: I am so grateful for that wallpaper. It improves the inevitable wait by a quantum leap. And, as I said, I see new things in it every time I look. I might take photos of the plants on my next visit.
DeleteA problem free and tranquil week sounds like bliss. I hope you have one too.
That wallpaper is fantastic, and it was a brilliant choice for a doctor's waiting room. Very cool all around. (And I love the chainlink sheep - it made me chuckle!)
ReplyDeleteDiane Henders: It is great isn't it? I have complimented the doctor and the reception staff. I like the sheep too, but the dingo/dog is a tad unnerving.
DeleteThe plaid zebra is quite unique.
ReplyDeleteJoanne Noragon: All of the animals depicted on the wallpaper have an interesting spin.
DeleteThat wallpaper seems endlessly fascinating. Have you ever spotted an artist's name on it? And I have a very soft spot for that beetle!
ReplyDeleteKim: I haven't seen/found the artists name. However the company that makes the wallpaper (thanks Mike) is Mooie. The beetle is great isn't it? I do enjoy my arty city.
DeleteI do love that wallpaper, it would be wonderful in a kids play area. I remember the crocheted sheep and that dog does look a liitle fierce. Hope you didn't have to wait too long in that waiting room.
ReplyDeleteRiver: The wallpaper is great, I waited a while, but not nearly as long as in the specialist's rooms where there is nothing to look at other than a television that is set to a news station.
DeleteThese photos are all lovely, enjoyed seeing them. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteMargaret D: Thank you. I am glad.
DeleteThat dingo does look fierce and eerie. You have a wonderful week too, dear friend.
ReplyDeleteSandra sandracox.blogspot.com
Sandra Cox: Definitely fierce. I think the sheep should be nervous. Hugs.
DeleteI love it when you show that quirky wallpaper at your doctor's office. It is something any mixed media artist would appreciate.
ReplyDeleteNot fond of that evil looking dog, but I loved the sheep. Hope all is well in your world and Batty's too.
Bleubeard and Elizabeth: The wallpaper is a delight isn't it? I think the dog is a dingo, one of Australia's few native predators. It does look mean doesn't it? Batty is improving, which is lovely. He really only wheezes on high wind and pollen days now.
DeleteThank you. Lovely photos, as always.
ReplyDeleteJ Cosmo Newbery: Thank you. I hope you are well, and travelling ok.
DeleteDear EC
ReplyDeleteI have to visit the osteopath on Monday and I am not expecting any interesting wallpaper there! There is so much to look at in the wallpaper at your Doctor's. I agree that the dingo/sheepdog looks a bit fierce - hopefully it is just because he is protecting the sheep. The beetle reminds me of the scarab beetle sculptures, beads and paintings we saw everywhere in Egypt, thirty years ago.
Thank you for sharing - I wish our city had more art.
Best wishes
Ellie
Ellie Foster: I thought of a scarab beetle too. My specialist has nothing to look at in his rooms. I hope your visit to the osteopath goes well. Really well.
DeleteOne doesn't need a magazine to read with that wallpaper! And I love the way sculptures, statues, and other delights seem to show so often the land of Oz.
ReplyDeleteBill: My city has a heap of public art and I love it. Really love it.
DeleteTo tell you the truth, I have never been able to concentrate on something in a doctor's waiting room, no matter how interesting or attractive. Wishing you to never need doctors and their rooms!
ReplyDeleteDUTA: Thank you. That is a wonderful wish. Unfortunately I have quite a range of doctors - and fortunately too I suppose.
Manuel: I am a beauty addict and do enjoy that wallpaper, but yes, I would rather not spend time waiting. I am not a patient woman. Hugs.
DeleteThank goodness we don’t use wallpaper any more. I have wallpapered in the past and sometimes lining up the pattern was a bit of a nightmare, so the one you are showing us must have been a challenge. It certainly is interesting, though. You may be the only person Sue, who sits in the doctor’s waiting room and takes pictures of the walls!
ReplyDeleteDavid M. Gascoigne: I have never tried to install wallpaper. Stripping it from a room in the house was bad enough. As I said in response to another comment I am a beauty addict and will happily photograph it where I find it. I did get some peculiar looks (both visits) when I was taking photographs of the wallpaper though.
DeleteMuy buena reproducción de animales. Hay que tener arte, para hacerlas.
ReplyDeleteFeliz domingo
VENTANA DE FOTO: I am so very grateful to the artists of this world. First and foremost to Mother Nature who I believe is the very best of them all.
DeleteOh my goodness, quite the menagerie. I love the tartan zebra. I wish I had a whole field of them! And the dingo.... nice sculpture.
ReplyDeleteShammickite: The zebra is a charmer isn't it?
DeleteI am quite taken with that leopard, I love the colours and if only more medical clinics had such enticements to watch. I will never forget my md who had the most incredible large fish tank in his waiting room. Full of tropicals. Everyone was visibly relaxed just looking at it.
ReplyDeleteXO
WWW
Wisewebwoman: I rather like the leopard too. And lots of the other animals depicted there. You are right about fish tanks being soothing - though they are a bugger to keep clean. My dentist has a poster on her ceiling - which helps.
DeleteI find the animals comforting. Most medical offices are dreary and often have a somewhat dystopian atmosphere. Hardly helpful for the nervous patient (me).
ReplyDeleteI have a digital pop art creation and a poem this week.
https://poetryofthenetherworld.blogspot.com/2023/10/the-joker.html
Ornery Owl of Naughty Netherworld Press and Readers Roost: I find them a more than welcome distraction and like you wish that more medical offices thought about the patient's comfort in this way. I will be off to read your offering soon.
DeleteSo many nice things to see in your area.
ReplyDeletegigi-hawaii: There are. I am very, very lucky.
DeleteSometimes art for no apparent reason is my favourite!!
ReplyDeleteJemi Fraser: I life is endlessly enriched by artists - whatever their field.
DeleteRealmente la decoración, supongo que en zona de entrada, del centro comercial es sumamente curiosa.
ReplyDeleteJ. S. Vila: Sheep have a presence in my city - which has been famously described as a good sheep station ruined.
DeleteIs that an armadillo pig or some species you have in Australia that I am just now hearing of? ...A pangolin, maybe? 😂
ReplyDeleteSandi: Sorry I have just rescued you from spam jail. I certainly took it to be an armadillo but it is a fanciful beast - and not one we have here.
DeleteGreat photos and it certainly makes the imagination dance. I hope you have a wonderful new week,
ReplyDeleteRasmaSandra: Thank you - you too.
DeleteThat wallpaper is mesmerizing.
ReplyDeleteMy selections are over here.
messymimi: I find it mesmerising too. I have already seen and thoroughly enjoyed your selections. Thank you.
DeleteThat wallpaper is brilliant. It makes waiting a fun game instead of boring. I love that cool sheep. I would like to see some lambs and cats done in the same style. Thanks for sharing your interesting eye adventures with us.
ReplyDeleteHugs
Julia
Julia: Eye adventures is a wonderful term that I may pinch/borrow. Thank you. I agree with you about the wallpaper. There are a number of those chainmail sheep about but I have never seen a lamb.
DeleteUff. Obviously, once again I thought my intention was the deed. But now:
ReplyDeleteTo watch this wallpaper is certainly most interesting, as long as the walls are not one's own. ;-)
Sean Jeating: I agree with you. I don't want that wallpaper in our home - but I would happily snuggle into a rug in that pattern. I expect the cats would like it too.
DeleteThat is a really cool wallpaper.
ReplyDeleteHena Tayeb: I like it too. A lot.
DeleteThat sheep looks as if it has been knit. I like that.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte (MotherOwl): It does doesn't it? How appropriate.
DeleteThat wallpaper draws one in for sure. Keeping people entertained during the long wait.
ReplyDeleteMarie Smith: Before Covid most waiting rooms had tatty and outdated magazines to keep us quiet. I much prefer the wallpaper.
DeleteOh, I really like the beetle too. :)
ReplyDeleteBelinda: Welcome and thank you. The beetle was a great addition wasn't it?
DeleteInteresting wallpaper. No doctor I visit has such creativity. Dull, drab, and uncomfortable is the norm. Great pictures!
ReplyDeleteYolanda Renee: Dull and drab is pretty much the rule here too. I am glad that my GP's practice has made an exception.
DeleteThat wallpaper is something else! I love the sculptures too.
ReplyDeleteRain: Isn't it wonderful? As I said, every time I visit I see new things in it to admire.
DeleteThe wallpaper is really something. I like that beetle, what a fun little thing to see.
ReplyDeleteMary Kirkland: Thank you. It was really nice to have lovely things to see on a visit to the doctor.
DeleteThat is amazing wallpaper, it certainly gives you something to look at and study while you wait.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed seeing the sculptures too.
Sending my good wishes.
All the best Jan
Lowcarb team member ~Jan: Thank you.
DeleteThe wallpaper is lovely
ReplyDeleteYou can check out my latest post at this link:
https://www.melodyjacob.com/2023/10/the-blessing-in-emergency.html
MELODY JACOB: That wall paper is intriguing isn't it?
DeleteThe wall paper is a good distraction. : )
ReplyDeleteCaternina: It is, and I at least need distractions while at the doctor's surgery.
DeleteI love all the artwork that is displayed around your city. Every time you show us something new. That wallpaper in the waiting room is fascinating. Here, waiting rooms are awfully boring, but at least some of them have at least delightful photography. Thankfully so far the waiting has never been long (and I always have my Kindle with me).
ReplyDeleteCarola Bartz: I am so grateful for the art in my city. Most of our waiting rooms are duller than ditchwater too, but this one is an exception. Just as well because I am going to have to go back there soon.
DeleteI love the wall paper and looking for new things would be a constant game. I'd forget what delighted me last time and be excited again next time!
ReplyDeleteThe canine is scary! Something about the eyes, I think.
kylie: I agree about the wallpaper and the dog/dingo. The eyes are freaky - and so is the looming posture.
DeleteBeautiful post love the fabulous colours here
ReplyDeleteaussie aNNie: Thank you. I am a fan of colour myself.
DeleteI'm joining the considerable crowd here enjoying that wallpaper! Next time you are there, picture all of us sitting with you and smiling as we find the parts you photographed :) I love the fanciful takes on regular animals. On the other hand, that canine statue's gleaming eyes make the hair on my neck stand up ... wouldn't want to meet him in the dark, real or not. We have nearly zero public art here. I wonder why.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good week, dear friend. I'm glad to read (above) that Batty is improving with the inhaler.
jenny_o: I will happily picture you and lots of other people sitting with me and enjoying the wallpaper. Sadly most people seem to ignore it in favour of their phones or tablets.
DeleteI agree with you about the dog/dingo and am pleased that so many other people saw it. Himself said I was being fanciful.
Batty is doing much better at the moment which is lovely. Our next challenge is to get his weight down.
I hope that your week is much, much better and that you find beauty to sustain you.
