Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files. Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.
The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life. Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks), and I have accepted the mantle.
The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent. Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.
I usually run with a theme. Autumn is here. We are having cool nights and mostly sunny days. Bliss. And I am delighting in the autumnal colour (which I call arboreal fireworks). I live in a leafy street. Most of our native trees are evergreens (Australia has just one true temperate deciduous native tree – the deciduous beech or Fagus found in Tasmania).
Just the same, there are plenty of imports to enjoy. Again, come wander with me.
Just because the seasons are messing with my mind, the photo above is of ranunculas - emerging months too early.
Blogger continues to exhibit some irritating quirks. It sends comments (including my own) to spam, while letting some spam though. I cannot at the moment subscribe to follow up comments. And it chose the order for the photographs in this post.
Just the same, there is beauty in the world. I hope you find it, and colour and joy in your week.
Lots of beauty there and here!!! Let's enjoy as much as we can.
ReplyDelete: )
Caterina: I am a beauty addict. And do enjoy it, wherever I find it.
DeleteI love the autumn shots. Yes, same with me and blogger. My own as well. it is annoying me for sure.
ReplyDeleteThe Happy Whisk: I suppose where blogger is concerned we get what we pay for. Autumn is one of my favourite times of year.
Delete❤️
DeleteBeautiful trees EC. And me, blogger does it to me, I would like them to less wisdom?
ReplyDeleteBob Bushell: Trees are a joy and a delight aren't they? Blogger less so.
DeleteI enjoy the beautiful trees! How I love these leaves when the time comes for them to turn red! Same problems as Blogger and I!Thanks for the pictures🍁🌳🍂!
ReplyDeleteKaterinas Blog: Thank you. I am enjoying our trees too. A lot.
DeleteYou bring back for me memories of wonderful Australian trees, Sue. My most vivid recollection is of the gum trees that shed their bark and the piles that build up at the base. Not good when wildfires strike, I am sure, but a wonder for a visiting naturalist to see.
ReplyDeleteDavid M. Gascoigne: I, and our native birds and critters do like our gum trees. Fortunately we all have adapted to the imports as well. And yes, the gum trees go too well with fire.
DeleteDear EC
ReplyDeleteBeautiful autumn colours for us to enjoy. Fireworks indeed!
Have a colourful (but gentle) week
Best wishes
Ellie
Ellie Foster: They are a joy aren't they? A busy week ahead with far too many appointments. The trees will bring me comfort. You have a good week too.
DeleteThose pictures are just beautiful. I love all the trees and the shade it must bring for people walking around. I hope you are doing good and feeling well.
ReplyDeleteMary Kirkland: I live in a leafy suburb in a leafy city - and I am very grateful. Thank you.
Deletethecontemplativecat here. Fall foliage is just beautiful! We had a fall back in Illinois. Here in CA, our weather gets confused. If I want to see the colors, I have to go up to our nearby Mtn. town. Oh, where are my corellas and galahs??
ReplyDeleteSusan Kane: Our weather is confused too. As I am. Your corellas and galahs are outside as I type. I will photograph them (again) later.
DeleteAn arboreal firework, indeed. ;-) Enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteSean Jeating: I am glad.
DeleteI love the deep purple colour the best. Is it a maple?
ReplyDeleteOf course, a good bit of the beauty of it comes from the contrast with other colours.
It's fabulous natural art work.
All the best with the appointments, you might be needing some roo time after all that
kylie: I love that colour too - and they are (mostly) claret ashes in these photos. I was thinking that Friday my first free day of the week would be good for a roo fix.
DeleteJust this last week I have noticed some autumnal reddening of leaves but we are well behind you with autumn colours. Thank you for the street wander and wonder.
ReplyDeleteAndrew: I am surprised that you are behind us - though we have more to come.
DeleteNo wandering here today because the rain is tumbling down. So it's good to keep dry and wander through your beautiful photos, EC. :)
ReplyDeleteTake good care...I hope the week ahead treats you kindly. My cuddles to Batty and Odie.
Lee: Batty, Odie and I thank you. Enjoy your rain - we could do with some.
DeleteI love the changing colours and keep meaning to take a bus trip to the hills area here every year but never seem to get there. I love the photos with multiple tree colours best.
ReplyDeleteRiver: I love it all.
DeleteRiver Fairchild - An explosion of beautiful colors! Spring and autumn are both the best seasons as far as I’m concerned. Colorful, temperate, and in recent years much too short. Summer and winter are taking more than their fair share lately.
ReplyDeleteI hope the coming week brings you joy and restfulness. Hugs to you and homage to Batty and Odie.
River Fairchild: Thank you. I am fond of spring and autumn too - but unlike many have a love of winter too. No restfulness this coming week. Joy when I have ticked off this lot of appointments. Hugs and homage are most welcome.
DeleteGreat color today. I hope it lasts for you.
ReplyDeleteMike: I expect it will last (and deepen) for another couple of weeks.
DeleteHi EC - lovely to see the differing colours ... that path stretching into the distance after the branching of the two trees must be a delightful walk. But just wandering through your streets must bring much relief ... when you can easily manage it. We are full of green, greens, verdant ... and muddy! Sunny today ... despite the cold north wind - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteHilary Melton-Butcher: It is a pleasant street, and I love that it is tree lined. I was a tired puppy when I got home, but glad that I managed it. We could, as usual, do with some of your rain. It was sunny here today - and plenty warm enough for me, though others in the household didn't agree.
DeleteI love the trees--- and it seems a very pleasant neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteBill: I love the trees too - and they really add to the neighbourhood.
DeleteSome beautiful colors. Here we are in full spring, so it's a different set of beautiful colors.
ReplyDeleteAlex J. Cavanaugh: And the beautiful colours are very welcome.
DeleteThanks for sharing your autumn colours, I really enjoyed looking at them. Yes, that's correct regarding the Fagus, I omitted it's the only deciduous tree in Australia.
ReplyDeleteMargaret D: It was your post that had me hunting. The Fagus is indeed our only deciduous tree. I wonder why?
Deletebeautiful colors, and one native deciduous tree, I find that unusual
ReplyDeleteLinda Starr: It is unusual isn't it? Many of our evergreens are a grey green.
DeleteYour Sunday Selections didn't show up on my blog feed, for some reason. So I went to Andrews blog and clicked your comment to come to yours and found you had posted. With great relief to me, since I'm the worrier. I love autumn colors too. We have not yet really gotten spring here. A couple below freezing nights, still raining, I think we've switched to being two seasons here.
ReplyDeleteStrayer: Another blogger glitch? Some posts don't show up in my reader either - including one blogger whose posts NEVER show. I am fine. Autumn colours are a joy. I do hope you get some spring soon though.
DeleteHappy to hear the autumn is providing some cool nights and pleasant days.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing SO MUCH color! We don't get that sort of display here during our autumn. Just brown and green.
Gini and I hope the new week is kind to all of us.
Wally Jones: I am very glad to live somewhere that has four distinct seasons - and autumn is one of my favourites. Much as I like green. I really, really like Gini and your wish. Thank you.
DeleteWow Sue every image of every tree was more beautiful than the last. The colors! WOW. Thank you for sharing. And THANK you for you continued kind comments on my blog,
ReplyDeleteJo: It is a beautiful season isn't it? With luck in the coming week I will see the colours from our lake.
DeleteI love seeing all that magnificent beauty in your part of the world. Thank you for letting me tag along with you! :-)
ReplyDeleteDJan: Your company is more than welcome - as I hope you know.
DeleteIt sounds like you're embracing the beauty of autumn and the colorful transformations it brings to your surroundings. Here's to capturing those moments through your Sunday Selections! Whether it's the vibrant hues of the changing leaves or the quiet beauty of the natural world around you, each photo is a snapshot of the season's essence. Thank you for sharing your corner of the world with us.
ReplyDeleteMELODY JACOB: Thank you. Nature provides me with solace and heart balm. All year.
DeleteI well and truly enjoyed the colour in these photos, EC. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMarie Smith: Thank you. It is a lovely time of year isn't it?
DeleteThere is much beauty here my dear friend! Your signature is all over it despite the difficulties. Thank you. Miss you a nice week. Aloha
ReplyDeleteCloudia: Not my signature but Mother Nature's. She is the BEST artist.
DeleteWhat lovely fall colours! I'm heaving a sigh of relief on your behalf, because you made it through the heat of summer and are now getting to enjoy some cooler weather. :-)
ReplyDeleteDiane Henders: The change of seasons brings some issues with it (I don't cope well with big temperature swings) but pushing summer out the door is VERY welcome. As it the autumnal colour.
DeleteArboreal fireworks is a fabulous term. Thank you for sharing the glorious photos.
ReplyDeleteMine are over here.
messymimi: Thank you. I really enjoyed your selections - as I do every week.
DeleteNot sure this will publish or when, but I will try until it does. Glad I'm not the only one blogger is taking revenge on. Seems you are having your own issues with blogger.
ReplyDeleteYou live on a very colorful street. I was very impressed by the different colors and shapes of some of the trees. I love that there are both reds and yellows together in several of the photos. And those purples are out of this world. Simply stunning color and photos, dear friend.
Bleubeard and Elizabeth: Happy Bearthday. Blogger is messing with my mind - though I am glad it relented and allowed your comment through. There is a LOT of colour in my street - for which I am very grateful. There is a row of those purple trees a little way from me (Claret Ash). I will try and get a photo of them this week too.
Deleteautumn season always beautiful...I like the color of that trees...It's remind me bout a romantic movie
ReplyDeleteMbul Kecil: It is beautiful isn't it? It doesn't make me think of romance though.
DeleteWe're just starting to experience Spring up north. I love Autumn though.
ReplyDelete:o)
Cheers
PM
Plastic Mancunian: I have been enjoying looking at your Spring and like you, love Autumn.
DeleteI love your colorful trees! Beautiful photos! I am getting blogging friends in my spam folder also. It has been an ongoing thing for me for a very, very long time. Sometimes it's been a week or so.
ReplyDeleteDeniseinVA: The spam thing is an irritation isn't it? Being unable to receive follow up comments is more recent. The trees are a joy aren't they as you go into another joyous season.
DeleteLovely photos! I always love to see the trees change with the seasons. I've had numerous issues with blogger but I still prefer it over Wordpress. Your blog was recommended in Ann Bennet's post today so here I am, a new follower.
ReplyDeleteKaren Jones Gowen: Welcome and thank you - and thanks to Ann as well. The change of seasons is often very, very beautiful isn't it?
DeleteYou are having some beautiful color right now. Here everything is now just a dense green.
ReplyDeleteAnne in the kitchen: There is nothing wrong with dense green. Our native trees are mostly a grey green. Which also has beauty.
DeleteAs always, your pictures 📸 are amazing, and a great celebration of nature. You ❤️ are very much missed and thought of often. Sending lots and lots of hugs and we'll wishes 🤗. RO
ReplyDeleteRO: How lovely to see you here. You and your blog are much missed. Hugs and well wishes to you too. And hooray for nature.
DeleteLove the photos, All the autumn colors are so beautiful, My favorites are the deep red and the golden, I hope you have a good start to the new week,
ReplyDeleteRasmaSandra: I don't think I have a favourite colour - I love them all. You have a great week too.
DeleteThank you for sharing these wonderful Autumnal photographs. My two favourite seasons are Autumn and Spring :)
ReplyDeleteBlogger and comments are still causing many of us problems!
I do hope you are enjoying your week, hard to believe it will soon be May, time passes so quickly.
My good wishes.
All the best Jan
Lowcarb team member ~Jan: I have just released you from spam jail. Sigh. I am a big fan of autumn and Spring too. Have a wonderful week.
DeleteSuch fall beauties in your neighbourhood... Here our early spring bulbs are starting to bloom and the lawns are greening up. Soon the mosquitos will follow. The deers are already eating the emerging Hostas to my chagrin.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the cooler temperatures. Hugs.
Julia
Julia: Thank you. A possum is wreaking havoc in our garden, but I suspect it does less damage than your deer. Enjoy your Spring.
DeleteBeautiful photos, I hope you are doing okay.
ReplyDeletee: Thank you. I am ok(ish). How about you?
Manuel: Thank you. I am so sorry that climate change is impacting on your vegetation. I hope, so much, that politicians the world over wake up and take action. Not only is nature beautiful we need it.
DeleteThere is beauty in the world and it looks like a large portion of it is in your corner of the world. Have a wondrous week, my good friend. Hugs Sandra sandracox.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteSandra Cox: There is beauty the world over - for which I am grateful. You have a beauty packed and blissful week too.
DeleteAutumn is such a wonderful season, isn't it? Cool nights and sunny days sound like true bliss, that's the way I like it. We are very lucky that in our area even in summer the nights are cool except when we have heat spells which fortunately don't happen too often (let's hope it stays like that). All the photos - no matter the order - are beautiful. The path in one of them looks very inviting, I'd love to walk down that one. I hope you can enjoy many more days of these beautiful colors. Hugs - Carola
ReplyDeleteCarola Bartz: Bliss indeed. In summer our nights are also hot so the current cool temperatures are more than welcome (though himself and the cats would argue the point). It is another bright and beautiful day here - and I hope for you too. There are lots of enticing paths to walk round here...
DeleteI love the beauty in your world. Lovely trees!
ReplyDeletegigi-hawaii: This beauty addict is very grateful. And I love our trees.
DeleteWOW, your fall colors rival ours! I wonder if latitudinally we are at the smae points, just on oppisite sides of the globe? (We are around 40 degrees above the equator for reference)
ReplyDeleteJuli: We are at 35.2802° S, 149.1310° E, so not far off equivalent. More of our trees are donning their winter garb every day. On Saturday I hope to make an outing to see them from our lake.
DeleteAutumn is bitter sweet for me. The colours are glorious but Mrs N is not here to see the brilliance of her favourite dogwood. That is a reality i still struggle with.
ReplyDeleteJ Cosmo Newbery: You must be enduring a lot of bitter sweet moments at the moment. Hugs.
DeleteGoogle or Blogger is making my life miserable because most of my comments will not publish no matter what I do. Your photos of fall are so pretty as we are in our Spring season here in Georgia and North Carolina. I have not posted on my blogs very often due to health issues and fighting depression but hope to read all of the ones I subscribe to this weekend. Glenda Beall
ReplyDeleteGlenda C. Beall: Thank you. Blogger is messing with a lot of our minds. I am sorry that you are wrestling with depression. It seems so unfair when you have also to battle physical health issues.
DeleteI love your arboreal fireworks, Sue! I'm sorry that blogger is frustrating you. Technology can be so maddening! Right now I'm having trouble replying to comments. I have discovered that if I press return in the comment box and then hit publish it will
ReplyDeletework. Crazy! 🍀❤️
Fundy Blue: Technology can indeed be maddening. I really resent not being able to get follow up comments at the moment.
DeleteThe yellow colors are spectacular!
ReplyDeleteRain: They are great aren't they?
