Sunday Selections #668

Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files. Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.

The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life.  Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks), and I have accepted the mantle.

The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent.  Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.

I usually run with a theme. This week we are going back to Enlighten.  Many of the buildings in the Parliamentary Triangle were illuminated.  As I so often say, come wander with me. Slowly.

Starting at our National Library.

Then to the Portrait Gallery.

Old Parliament House (which the powers that be would prefer we call the Museum of Australian Democracy). This year the illuminations were a tribute to some of the workers at that building...

Then to Questacon - celebrating science and technology.

Finishing up at our National Library.

There is a lot to see and a lot to experience.  There are plenty of places willing to take your money or you can take as we did the free option and just wander.  And enjoy.

I hope you find light in your week.

I usually run with a theme.  This week I am taking you to Enlighten, an annual festival that was held while I was on my blog break.  The focus of the festival is on the illuminated buildings in our Parliamentary Triangle, but there are also decorations in the city itself.  Which is where we are going this week.  The decorations inside the mall were very different to those outside.

Starting inside:

As you will see the time span in the decorations represented inside and outside the mall was very different - and indeed malls would not have existed when the second features roamed the earth.  I am pretty certain that the critters were illuminated at night, but sadly I didn't see them then.  And equally sadly, they were fenced off during the day and I couldn't take any close up photos.

I hope that you find brightness in your week - and for those that celebrate it, Happy Easter.
