Sunday Selections #510

Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files.

Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.

The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life.  Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks), and I have accepted the mantle.

The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent.  Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.

I usually run with a theme.  This week I am reverting to type.  Skyscapes, and then a wander through our garden in the (very) early morning.

These photos were taken just after first light over a number of days.  The very early morning is one of my favourite times of day.

And of course if I am outside with my camera the garden will trigger my shutter finger as well.

Yes, I know.  Yet another photo heavy post.  We also squeezed in a kangaroo fix last week.  Photos to follow.

I hope you all have a bright and beautiful week.

    2. Early morning is my time of the day too! Especially if I've had a good night's sleep.

These photos are refreshment for the spirit.

Is that a mushroom? It is pretty!

  4. I love the morning as well. The world seems so clean no matter what the jumble is around you. But the nighttime sky is also a joy when there are clouds. I love the redness of clouds just before the sun sets below the horizon. Life is good.

Flowers are nice as well as the Fun guy. I love mushrooms. We don't have a comparable species or if we do, I haven't seen it. Cheers.

    1. Ann Bennett: I watch the sky with delight at any (and very time of day). That mushroom (known among other things as a Japanese umbrella) is delicate and fragile. I see it early but it is usually gone by lunchtime.

    2. Aha. I see, it is a mushroom. How pretty. I've never seen one like that.

In Guyana, we call mushroom "jumbie umbrella" because they grow in the graveyard. And "jumbie" is our word for ghosts.

      Delete
    3. neena maiya (guyana gyal): I love the name jumbie umbrella. This particular mushroom lasts such a short time (and is gone when the sun is fully up) that the name is entirely appropriate.

  7. Another group of lovely photos, EC.

For me the heat we've been having has been too draining. I've not been overly-energetic or excited about much. I think I might hop aboard the next ship to Antarctica!

My two furry besties wake me each morning around 4.40 to 4.45 am demanding their breakfast...and then they promptly go back to sleep!

May the week ahead be filled with goodness, EC...cuddles to Jazz. :)

    1. Lee: I have been watching the temperatures your way and shuddering. Ours have been very, very variable. A change of more than 20 degrees (C) is not uncommon. Jazz often wakes me before your overlords do and doesn't think that I should go back to sleep.
I hope you have a cooler and more comfortable week - all of you.

    1. Andrew: You are right, the first four shots were taken on the same morning. The garden is a work in progress always and I have found that I need to wander round with my camera to notice the beauty rather than the work which is always needed.

I can't wait until next year for my own lilies to bloom. I lost several giant lilies to the flood last year. I was very disappointed. Some survived but others didn't.
