Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files. Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.
The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life. Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks), and I have accepted the mantle.
The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent. Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.
I usually run with a theme. Last week was a very difficult week. I am so glad that I went to my happy place the week before.
Now for an explanation about the difficult part. On Wednesday morning Batty was obviously far from well. He was wheezing, off his food (which is unheard of) and unhappy. We were lucky and got a vet appointment. Yes, he had a chest infection. However when she attempted to take his temperature she observed a piece of wrapping ribbon emerging from his nether regions. It seems that somehow he had found a piece and eaten it. An x-ray confirmed that he had a blockage and urgent surgery was required. Surgery that was likely to be complicated by his chest infection and his asthma. Surgery done, he needed to be monitored. Our vet does not have staff there for twenty four hours. So he had to be transferred to another vet. The next morning we picked him up and took him back to our own vet (and I had a Lifeline shift). That evening was a repeat of the first. On Friday afternoon the vet said that we could take him home on a trial run. A failure. We had to go back to the vet yesterday. Poor little Batty has pneumonia (as well as multiple stitches from his surgery). The twenty four hour vet we had been using was full. So we took him to a different one on the far side of town where he will spend this weekend receiving oxygen and regular painkillers. We will need to pick him up on Monday morning (early) and take him back to the regular vet who will make an assessment.
Aaargh. Cross your fingers for him please.

ReplyDeleteHave kangaroos become invasive in Australia? Canadian geese here are in Canada. Horrible things. They live on school grounds, parks, and cemeteries and leave their poo everywhere. You can't even walk 15 centimeters without stepping in it. THey are also aggressive and mean. People here hate Canadian geese and want them culled.
Birdie: Thank you. It is hard. Kangaroos can be a problem (particularly on the road at dawn and dusk). Our city does some culling which I hate.

River Fairchild: Email woes continue. I don't always receive email and where you are concerned I cannot at the moment send either. Batty is doing a little better today but 'he is not out of the woods yet'. At the vet's request we are going in to visit him this afternoon.

Here I've been stressed about Lola and your poor Batty is so much worse. I'll cross my fingers after I finish commenting on blogs and maybe think healing thoughts strong enough to reach him. Is he otherwise a strong boy or has he been sickly all his life?

River: He has asthma which doesn't help and his hip dislocated repeatedly early in his life. He is still needing oxygen which is a big worry.
