Sunday Selections #832
Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files. Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.
The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life.
Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks),
and I have accepted the mantle.
The
rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent. Post some photos
under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Sorry I still
haven't succeeded in working out how to do a blog hop. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.
I
usually run with a theme. Last week was patchy. I am very glad I managed the Out of the Shadows Walk but for much of the week I was weaker and wobblier than I liike. On Thursday my hair started to fall out. They have told me that I won't lose it all but it will thin. And it has thinned signficantly and continues to fall. On that first day I only lost grey hair. When I told my brothers all three of them commented that they only have grey hair left to fall. There are advantages to being the youngest. At the moment I have to clear the shower drain thoroughly after each shower or there would be a flood.
Next week will be busy. Medical appointments for the first three days culminating with the second chemo on Wednesday. A break on Thursday (so far) and then another appointment on Friday. I suspect I will be largely absent from this space.
In the meantime spring is most definitely here and I continue to revel in it. I hope to see anenomes and ranuculas in the coming days.
Same old, same old on the photographic front but they make me smile and I hope they do the same for you.
Here's to colour and joy.
Yes those are beautiful pictures. I hope the treatments go well.
ReplyDeleteMary Kirkland: Thank you.
DeleteHopefully, everything will go well.
ReplyDeleteWe will be waiting for you here, Sue.
I am glad that you are enjoying Spring!
I am sending you a hug and positive energy!!
Katerinas Blog: I always enjoy spring - and thank you.
DeleteLovely flowers and best of luck on your treatments. Go buy yourself a pretty hat!
ReplyDeleteMarty: I am leaning towards a turban at the moment. Or a couple in different colours.
DeleteHopefully this week doesn't completely drain you! Continued prayers.
ReplyDeleteAlex J. Cavanaugh: I hope not too - and thank you.
DeleteLaura Eno - Your photos always make me smile. They are color and joy!
ReplyDeleteIt’s a shame the weeks are so stuffed. I guess no help for it but I hope you get some rest breaks between appointments.
At least your treatments will be finished by the time the full heat of summer takes over.
Sending my love and hugs always.
Laura Eno: Summer? Wash your mouth out. I will snatch rest breaks when I can - and hugs.
DeleteThey may be same old same old, but for those of us Up Top they do indeed make me smile. Sending you big virtual hugs.
ReplyDeleteDJan: I am very happy to be able to spread colour and smiles.
DeleteHi EC - always good to see you ... sorry about that loss of hair ... but you're on the road of progress - with thoughts in that direction. Your brothers ... interesting their thoughts were on their greys men. So lovely to see your Spring flowers ... and thank you for putting a post up - we'll see when we see you ... as DJan says sending you very big virtual hugs ... Hilary
ReplyDeleteHilary Melton-Butcher: I am loving spring - and smiling at my brothers.
DeleteI mustn't forget to return the favour in a few months with daffodils from Seanhenge; they look remarkably similar to yours. ;-)
ReplyDeleteAnd as for next week: Go, Sue, go!
Feel yourself hugged.
Sean Jeating: Daffodils are a delight aren't they?
DeleteI've been absent, due to, we thought, a dead laptop battery. But when I borrowed P's laptop to do some fairly crucial banking stuff...his battery also went down. Turns out, that particular power point is dead. So...a job for a sparkie, whenever.
ReplyDeleteBattery woes pale somewhat in the light of hair loss.
power points can die?
Deletedinahmow: I hope the sparky doesn't uncover anything else. Good luck. I still have some curls - but less of them.
DeleteNice colors! We're losing all our flowers here. Waiting for the leaves to turn.
ReplyDeleteMike: You are going into my other favourite time of year.
DeleteI LOVE the glorious daffodils. My star flowers are out too, only three flowers so far. I planted grape hyacinth once, hoping they wouldn't affect me like the regular hyacinths do, but they did, so I pulled them out and gave the bulbs to a neighbour.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about your hair and I hope it grows back to its usual thickness once the treatments are over. In the meantime a plethora of hats, scarves, turbans are all out there waiting for you.
River: It will be interesting to see how much more hair I lose. Turbans have been ordered. I am surprised that the grape hyacinths also give you grief. You have a very sensitive system.
DeleteYou have so many beautiful flowers in your garden that locals must linger on their walks to see what is blossoming. I know I would!
ReplyDeleteKim: One regular walker has told me that she really enjoys our garden - which is lovely.
DeleteThank you for all the beautiful photos. It is fall here and flowers are dwindling too quickly, and I love seeing these colours and textures. Wishing you times of rest between appointments, dear friend. And as River said, there are many ways to keep your head warm and pretty once you get to that point, although I sympathize greatly with the hair fall. Courage, heart sister. Keep swimming.
ReplyDeletejenny_o: Bold and bald has occurred to me, but our mornings are still cool....
DeleteThank you dear friend.
Oh I'd like to find you a wild colored hat or head scarf, for fun. Those flowers are so pretty. Your spring, our fall. I hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteStrayer: Thank you.
DeleteYour spring blossoms always make me smile. Beautiful colors and photos.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry your hair is thinning due to chemo. At least it seems to be working. Bless you, dear and keep smiling.
Bleubeard and Elizabeth: Hair fall is relatively minor, though I am getting tired of cleaning the shower drain. Thank you.
DeleteThe hyacinth impresses me, and you can't go wrong with daffodils. It's interesting that hyacinth appeal to bees. There must be a lot of work for little reward.
ReplyDeleteAndrew: I wonder whether the grape hyacinth has a particularly sweet nectar. The bees certainly seem to love them.
DeleteThe spring bulbs are blooming well, they do look good.
ReplyDeleteSorry about your hair and good luck, EC.
Margaret D: Every time we look something new is blooming.
DeleteLovely flowers--- We get lots and lots of daffys in the spring. I like them.
ReplyDeleteBill: I love them too.
DeleteI am glad that the spring flowers bring joy, Sue. It’s tough what you are going through, and you are facing it with your normal stoicism and fortitude, or so it seems to us. You are in the thoughts of all of us. Good luck with the next series of treatments. With love, David
ReplyDeleteUnes fotos precioses.
ReplyDeleteLa primavera és vitalitat, joventut, bellesa, amor i colors, realment força i vida. I això també et fa reviure a tu.
Et desitjo que tot vagi bé, Sue.
Aferradetes i petonets.
As David said, you are in the thoughts of all of us.
ReplyDeleteSending you a friendly hug this very moment. : )
the colors of your photos are so vibrant, thinking of you
ReplyDeleteGorgeous spring in your neck of the woods while we sail into autumn. Love all the flowers and all our thoughts are with you on this challenging journey and your far too busy week.

ReplyDeleteSending big hugs across the miles as you continue your treatment.
Know that you are in my thoughts.
All the best Jan
Much love and many hugs and healing vibes being sent your way Sue. You will be in my thoughts and heart. Thank you for the awesome flowers.
ReplyDeleteLovely flowers
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing the blooms are, so cheering.
ReplyDeleteYou are in my heart and prayers.
I love spring too, and lkove to hear that you have anmone too - although I doubt they are the same as mine.
ReplyDeleteI wish yo all the best, and hope you find more beauty - and some brilliant turbans - along your bumpy road to health.
Flower pictures always lift my mood.
ReplyDeleteMy mum had chemo in her forties and her hair thinned but grew back thicker and darker once the treatment was over. She got herself a shorter, more fashionable hairstyle and maintained that length for the rest of her life. She passed in her eighties.
Continuing to send you fierce healing energies.
Love all the flowers, Hoping you are feeling better and sending you many blessings,
ReplyDeleteThat's a week heavy on medical appointments and I hope you go through it well. It must be very exhausting. But I'm glad that spring is able to give you some joy and comfort. The daffodils especially can light up a day.
ReplyDeleteI'm sending you a big hug across the Pacific.
You have done a great job of creating and encouraging beauty on your little patch! It's all so lovely.
ReplyDeleteI'm wishing you well for good days
Thank you for sharing this. It takes a lot of strength to talk about what you're going through, and I'm so sorry to hear about your tough week and the challenges you're facing. I love that you're still finding joy in the little things like spring arriving and that your photos continue to make you smile. They definitely made me smile, too. I'll be thinking of you during your appointments next week. Please take all the time you need.
