Sunday Selections #775

Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files. Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.

The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life.  Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks), and I have accepted the mantle.

The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent.  Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.

I usually run with a theme. I am reverting to type again this week and am mostly in our garden (or looking up and down the street).  It is still autumn here (which I am revelling in) but parts of the garden are confused.

Starting with autumn glory.

Other parts of the garden say that winter is here.

There are pockets where it is still summer.

And in other places Spring is well on the way.

This volunteer plant blooms in numerous spots in the garden all year round - much to Batty and Odie's displeasure.

Whatever your season I hope you find colour and beauty in it.

Sunday Selections #624

I usually run with a theme. Autumn is here and our trees are starting to blaze with the annual aboreal fireworks display.

I had hoped to go for a walk to show you the trees in our street/suburb.  Sadly I am not up to that yet.  My blood oxygen levels are better and no longer sit firmly in the dangerous range but they are still low and I tire easily.  Next week I hope...

So instead I am going to show shots from our sadly neglected garden.  Our sadly neglected and confused garden.  The begonias that line our front veranda are an annual autumn treat.

However, the hoya which bloomed as it usually does at Christmas has decided it is time to bloom again.

The colour on this last photo is a reflection from the sunrise. Astute eyes will notice Odie checking it out from inside the house. Tomorrow week we take Batty back to the vet and are expecting/hoping that he can be released from solitary confinement and join Odie in checking out the world again.

In the garden there are also clear signs of spring. These bulbs are already emerging from the ground, months too early.

I am going to finish this post with photos of a delicate little mushroom.
Commonly referred to as the Pleated Inkcap, and sometimes as the Little Japanese Umbrella, Parasola (formerly Coprinus) plicatilis is a very delicate member of the inkcap group of fungi. It occurs in short grass.

The colour in the first is again a reflection of a soft sunrise.

I hope you find colour and beauty in your week.

I usually run with a theme.  It is Autumn here.  Typically our days are sunny and the nights cool.  I have been revelling in the autumnal colour on the trees and watching leaves drop to reveal a filigree of bare branches.

The tree dahlias are budding prolifically and the first flowers emerging.  Hopefully more will come out before the first heavy frost cuts them down.

We have had our first (light) frost and an area less than sixty miles away has had a dusting of snow.  Winter is on the way.  However it is also summer in our garden.

There are roses and daisies in bloom.  The begonias on the front veranda continue to put on a brave display and the hoya is blooming again.

And it is spring too.

This azalea is in bud.

Double poppy seedlings have emerged.

And in other parts of the garden there are dutch iris, grape hyacinth, freesias and anemones already well above ground.

Colour me confused.

Have a great week, whatever season (or seasons) you are in.
