Sunday Selections #669

Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files. Huge thanks to Cie who gave me this wonderful Sunday Selections image.

The meme was then continued by River at Drifting through life.  Sadly she has now stepped aside (though she will join us some weeks), and I have accepted the mantle.

The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent.  Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to me. Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.

I usually run with a theme. This week it is snippets from home.

I delight in the sky and for a change these are shots of a sunset rather than a dawn.

And a softer sunset (when my hands weren't shaking as much as they were on the earlier ones).

And then to the garden.  While I was on a break I did work in the garden.  More needs to be done.  The tuberous begonias are blooming anyway.

Autumn has arrived here and the days (and particularly the nights) are a lot cooler.

Next week I hope to take a walk and show you the arboreal firework display in my area.  I hope your week is blooming lovely.

I usually run with a theme. I am still struggling (humidity rather than heat) and this post is more snippets from home.

Most of our dawns are galah coloured.

They are soft, gentle, and I think beautiful.

However, every so often we have a much more vivid start to the day.

The early birds were corellas rather than galahs, and they were not looking for worms but hunting for seed.  Which of course I provided.

A little while ago I showed you a shot of our front veranda, which is usually a cool haven.  At the moment it is a cool and colourful haven as the begonias put on their display.

And yes, it is a haven for the spider too.  I admired the web and left it be.

I hope you find a haven this week too.  Our school holidays are about to finish.  If my recalcitrant body allows it we have an excursion in mind.  Watch this space...

Sunday Selections #424

Sunday Selections was originally brought to us by Kim, of Frogpondsrock, as an ongoing meme where participants could post previously unused photos languishing in their files.

The meme is now continued by River at Drifting through life.  The rules are so simple as to be almost non-existent.  Post some photos under the title Sunday Selections and link back to River (I hope her hands have allowed her to participate this week).  Clicking on any of the photos will make them embiggen.

Like River I usually run with a theme.  Today I am staying at home.  Autumn is finally, blissfully here.

I am revelling in the tuberous begonias on our veranda.

I liked this dainty insect too - but my ignorant self is clueless about what it is called.

I am also, as always, loving the birds who visit.  The corellas are regulars and they bring their families which is an incredible privilege.  However, a young corella is very, very far from musical as the short video I attached will show.  A few years ago we saw an adult firmly rap a whinging youngster on the top of its head.  It was silenced and inside we (quietly) cheered.

Like River I usually run with a theme.  This week I am staying close to home.  A soft and gentle dawn (which changed by the minute) to start with.

And then a wander into the garden.  Summer is finally showing signs that she is leaving (hooray) but some plants are having a final fling (also hooray).

One day last week we had fifteen spits of rain (essentially incontinent pigeon rain - splat, splat and it was gone).  I would have liked a lot more, but it was pretty.

I do love begonias.  Their leaves are lovely and the blooms spectacular.

This rose has the most glorious scent.
